7801 Ruby Ann Tolley Merritt, 81, of Marietta, passed away, March 7, 2019.
Born in Unicoi County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late David and Rhoda Berry Tolley. She was the manager of Chad's Restaurant and was manager of the bar and grille at the Green Valley Country Club. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW as former president.
Surviving are her husband of 28 years: David Merritt; a daughter: Debbie Tolley Babson a son: Darrell Owens (Becci); two brothers: William Tolley (Kathy), JC Tolley; four grandchildren and five loving great-granchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: a daughter: Shirley Ann Ward; four sisters: Linnie Cleveland, Bea Cawley, Leora Ward, June McKelroy; three brothers: Harrison Tolley, Howard Tolley, Chet Tolley; and a grandson: Travis Ward.
Burial in Mountain View Memorial Park.

7802 Ruby Bennett Hyder, 99, Hampton, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at the Hermitage Health Center. A native of Clinchfield, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Nathan & Edith Hill Bennett, she had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a housewife. Ruby loved gardening & quilting. She was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Hyder, her brothers: Harry, Gene, Clifford and Cecil Bennett and her sisters: Otolene Tolley, Georgia Laws and Nadine Gouge and her son-in-law: Tony White.

Survivors include a daughter: Dianna White, three sons: Curtis (Helen) Hyder, Hampton, Lowell (Nell) Hyder, Elizabethton and Keith (Sheila) Hyder, Gray. Her Granddaughters: Amy (Chad) Livingston, Angie Beam and Lisa (Greg) Boehm, her grandsons: Chad Hyder, and Marty Lowell Hyder, five great-grandchildren. Two Sisters: Ruth McKinney, Barberton, Ohio and Wileda Johns, Inverness, Florida.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Ruby Hyder will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Trivett and Rev. B.F. McKinney, Jr. officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2019, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Chad Hyder, Marty Hyder, Chad Livingston, Greg Boehm, Zach Beam, Joshua Henegar, Jaydon Livingston and Hurshell Scalf. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Danny McKinney, Fred Simerly, friends and neighbors. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Hermitage Health Center and the staff of Caris Health, who took very good care of our Mom.

7803 Ruby Caroline Graybeal Calhoun, 92, passed away May 28, 2009 in Pacolet, South Carolina.

She was born March 28, 1917 in Newland, NC to the late Conley Clinton and Dora Tolley Graybeal.

She married Henry Goodson Calhoun and they relocated to Louisville, Ohio, where they were Charter Members of the Louisville Baptist Temple and Henry worked and then retired as a machinist. After Henry's retirement they moved to St. Augustine, Florida where they lived until Henry passed away in 2005 after 71 years of marriage.

Ruby was a strong and determined woman, who loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to garden and listening to gospel music.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Calhoun; a daughter, and a great granddaughter.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Marylin Dover, and her husband, John, of Pacolet, SC; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Calhoun will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 from the Grandfather Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. John Moody officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fork Mountain Cemetery.

7804 Ruby D. Bice, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John and Connie Wilson Markland.
Ruby was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bice Sr.; two sisters, Hattie Wilson and Mary Ruth Markland; and three brothers, Ray, Carl and Johnny Jack Markland.
Survivors include her children, Bobby Bice and Sirena Bryer and husband Dennis; five grandchildren, Deltyn Bryer, William Bryer, Hope Bryer, Denise Bryer and Audrey Bryer; one half brother, Ken Markland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, and the Rev. Charles Cable officiating. Music will be provided by Ray Don Markland and the Sounds of Victory. Interment will follow in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Deltyn Bryer, William Bryer, Dennis Bryer, Larry McKinney, Howell Wiseman and Chris Flannery. 7805 Ruby Davis Hughes, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2019, in Watauga She was the daughter of the late R.B. and Cora Alice Davis. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Hughes, and by eight sisters and four brothers.
Ruby was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She loved to cook and to clean the house.
Those left to cherish the memory of Ruby are her husband of nearly 71 years, Walter Eugene Hughes Jr., of the home; a son, David Eugene Hughes, Watauga; two grandchildren, Debbie Jones and husband James of Williston, S.C., and Angela Pederson of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Jase Jones and Ella Pederson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life for Ruby Davis Hughes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Gary Roe, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Visitation with the family will be from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Scalf Cemetery in Watauga, Tenn.

7806 Ruby Deloach Morton, 95, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Signature Health Care.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Mae Lipford Deloach.
Ruby was retired as a cook from Happy Valley High School. She also worked as a CNA at Hillview Health Center for 23 years. Ruby loved to cook, loved music and loved being around kids. She was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Ruby was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. All who knew Ruby loved Ruby. She was inducted into the Happy Valley High School Hall of Fame in 1994.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, David Cliff Morton, Roy Huskins and Luther Morton; three brothers, Buddy Deloach, Herbert Deloach and Cliff Deloach; and two sisters, Julie Deloach Carr and Lula Bell Deloach Frazier.
Survivors include three step-sons, Michael (Connie) Morton, Jeff (Sherry) Morton and Teddy Morton; two step-daughters, Jane Michalski and Iva Lee (Earnest) Garland; two step-grandsons, Chris Morton and Teddy Joe Morton Jr.; three step-granddaughters, Libby Sims, Baleb Kunath and Autumn Sims; four step-great-grandchildren; her special nieces, Brylee “Dolly” Stevens, Honery Dugger, Vivian Dugger, Samantha Stevens, Karen Tester and Karen Applegate; her special nephews, Bubba Dugger and Caden Bryant; her sister, JoAnn Jarrett; and her special sister, Betty Stevens.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Earnest Garland officiating. Interment will follow the service. Ruby Garland Roark Stevens, age 98, passed away peacefully in her Morristown home on April 11, 2017, with family by her bedside. Ruby was born in Erwin, Tenn., but lived most of her life in Bristol, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gray K. Stevens; father, Elisha Garland; mother, Cara McIntosh Garland; several siblings; her daughter, Debra Stevens Matthews of Charlotte, N.C.; son-in-law, Tom Lowe of Morristown, Tenn.; and her great-grandsons, Joshua Sherman of Mt. Holly, N.C. and Zed Whitaker of Greensboro, N.C.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Roark Taylor (Dennis Taylor) of Mt. Holly, N.C., and Audrey Roark Lowe of Morristown, Tenn.; sister, Madge Keplinger; eight grandchildren, Robin and Tommy, Scott and Dewayne, Rusty, Scotty and Sunny; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Deborah Hill of Morristown, Tenn.

Ruby was a very strong and independent woman with great tenacity and a delightful sense of humor. She enjoyed creating art, many travels which took her all over the world, and had an adventurous spirit. Ruby often spoke with great pride of her part in World War II effort working at Glenn L. Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, Md. building warplanes. She believed in the hope of eternal life through her Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family was blessed by the tremendous care and compassion given by Smokey Mountain Hospice. Ruby died with the same dignity with which she lived her life.

7809 Ruby Grindstaff , age 92, of 919 Medical Park Drive, formerly from Butler, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012, after an extended illness. She was born December 4, 1919, to the late James and Myrtle Potter Brewer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Grindstaff and by two brothers, Claude and Bill Brewer. Ruby was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and gardening.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Claude Brewer Jr., Geraldine Gentry, and James Brewer all of Butler, TN, Leola Watson of Carryville, TN; and one sister-in-law, Hartensia Brewer of Butler, also special friend, Richard Hagler of Mountain City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Grindstaff were conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 8, 2012, from the Eastside Memory Chapel of the Hux Lipford Funeral Home, with Reverend Leonard Fletcher officiating. Graveside service and burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Park. Family received friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Pallbearers were Benny Stout, Dean Campbell, Tommy Poore, Richard Hagler, Blaine Branch, Charlie Mann, and Coty Brewer. At other times the family will receive friends at 725 Little Dry Run Rd. in Butler.

7810 Ruby H. Slemp, age 92, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at her residence with her family and friends by her side.
She was born January 30, 1921, in Johnson County, Tennessee, to the late Roscoe and Alice Potter Perkins.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, McDonald Slemp; sisters: Blanche Stout, Cleo Colson and Doris Hughes; brothers: Hartley Potter, Earl Perkins and Shelton Perkins; and a son-in-law, Jim Rupard.
She was employed at Burlington Industries for many years.
Ruby enjoyed reading her Bible. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and when she was able, Ruby loved to be outside working in her flower gardens.
Ruby is survived by her daughters: Linda Rupard, of Winston-Salem, NC, Karen Icenhour and husband, Tom, of Mountain City, TN, and Donna West and husband, Dr. Mike West, of Knoxville, TN; sons: Buddy Slemp and wife, Betty, and Jack Slemp and wife, Olive, all of Lexington, NC; brother, Eddie Perkins and wife, Cledith, of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Chris, Alisa, Billie, Frankie, Michael, Debbie and Addison: great grandchildren: Thomas, Carson, Matthew, Kelsey, Brandie, TC, Billie Jr., 'Bubba,' Katelyn, Rhea, Brian, Megan and Courtney; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gentry; several great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Mike Boyd to officiate.
Graveside Service and Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tom Icenhour, Chris Icenhour, Mike West, Curtis Gentry, Jody Hawkins and Shane Hodge. Honorary Pallbearers are Ruby's Nephews.

7811 Ruby Juanita Crigger, age 92, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012, at her daughter's residence in Gray.

Mrs. Crigger was a native of Washington County. She was the daughter of the late John Onks and Carrie Wilson Onks.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert "RB" Crigger; four brothers, Buford Onks, Dee Onks, Charles Onks and Donald Onks; one sister, Hazel Onks; one grandson Barry Crigger.

Mrs. Crigger was a homemaker and attended Heritage Baptist Church and was a member of McKinley Memorial Bible Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sherry Toothman and her husband, Nick, of Lerna, Illinois, and Karen Kimes and her husband, James, of Gray; four sons, Robert Lee Crigger, of Johnson City, Ralph Dean Crigger, of Madison, Tn., Ronald Gene Crigger, of Johnson City, and Carlos Rex Crigger, of Flag Pond; one sister, AnnaPearl Ellis, of Jonesborough; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Juanita Crigger will be conducted at 8 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012, in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Lenny Smith and Rev. Mike Richards will officiate.

The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Monday in the Fairview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM Monday to go in procession.

7812 Ruby Kate Wilson Moody, age 93, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on April 15, 1923 to the late Dr. William Clyde Wilson and Dottie Arnold Wilson. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by a one sister, six brothers and a grandson, Michael Moody.

Ruby enjoyed the outdoors very much, especially feeding and watching the birds and her flowers. Ruby loved her family very much and loved cooking and having family get togethers. She was a gifted quilter and made many treasured quilts for her family. She had a special love for animals, especially cats and dogs, of which she had several throughout the years. Ruby was always willing to help others and volunteered at the Mountain City Care Center and Welcome Center. She always loved a good yard sale and the contents in her out building were proof of that.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist church.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters: Carolyn Diugus and Nancy Mahala and husband Buster; sons: Billy Moody, Jimmy Moody and wife Barbara and Danny Moody; half- sisters: Lois Wilson Price and Mary Alice Wilson Roper; grandchildren: Jason Moody, Randy 'Bo' Pleasant, Andrew Roark and Erin Taylor; great grandchildren: MacKenzie Moody and Michael Wayne Moody; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m .on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Shannon Courtner officiating. 7813 Ruby L. Price, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday evening, September 7, 2018 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on October 2, 1934 in Shouns, TN, Johnson County to the late Mack Hall and Emma Mae Hammons Hall. In addition to her parents Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Price, sisters, Susan Hall, India Hall, Phyllis Woods, Ella Mae Church, Wauntia Jennings, Lenitha Bumgardner and Wanda Martin, brothers, Charles Hall, Ervil Hall, Harley Hall and Estel Hall.

Ruby was a loving Mother and grandmother. She was a friend to many and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Ruby had a deep faith in Jesus and lived her life for him. She enjoyed her flowers and being with her animals, raising chickens, rabbits and various other animals.

Ruby was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Ruby is survived by two sons, Jerold Price and wife Kathy and Ricky Price, one brother, Boyd Hall, grandchildren, Dustin Price and wife Andrea, Amanda Potter and husband Dwayne, Carrie Reece and husband Billy, great grandchildren; Waylon Price, Madison, Mason and McKeena Potter, several nieces, nephews and cousins, special great nieces, Natasha and Tamara, special friends, Ginger Greer, Jean Potter, Faye Hall, Nacho and Pome.

The family will receive friends, Monday September 10, 2018 from 6- 8:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Tony Potter to officiate, music by Tony and Cheri Potter and Jim Patrick and Hannah Russell. Graveside service and burial will be Tuesday September 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. 7814 Ruby Lee Elliott, 90, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from her residence, following a brief illness. She was born in Carter County to the late Clayton and Mary Elizabeth Rainbolt Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Elliott on November 8, 1996; a son, John Donovan Elliott; three grandchildren, Cassie Elliott, John Elliott, Jr., and Gary Lynn Elliott; sisters, Beatrice Whaley and Louise Raines; an infant sister and an infant brother; four brothers, Frank, Tom, Ira, and Edward Ward.

Mrs. Elliott was retired from the Johnson City Medical Center as and LPN, where she had served for nineteen years. She was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church and loved gardening, flowers, and being with her grandchildren and her dogs.

Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Brenda Elliott, Elizabethton; three sons, Richard Elliott and wife Linda, Johnson City; Gerald Elliott and wife Becky, High Springs, FL; and Keith Elliott and wife Robin, Elizabethton; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Elliott, Elizabethton; one brother, Fredrick Ward and wife Denise, Elizabethton; two sisters, Marjorie Pearson and Judy Mick and husband Bruce, all of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and four special friends, Jan Williams, Tammy Winters, Patricia Ward, and Tom Ward.

The funeral service for Mrs. Elliott will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Nick Bradshaw, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday; or at the residence at anytime.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Richie Elliott, Jeremy Elliott, Adam Elliott, Phillip Grant, Robert Hagy and Wayne Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Ward and friends and neighbors.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Murray James and Loretta Cassie Grindstaff Oliver.
Ruby was retired from American Air Filter. She loved to read her Bible and was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. During her stay there she was known as the Mayor of Courtyard Apartments.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, several great-great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-great-nieces and nephews, whom she was a second mother to; a special great-great-niece and special helper, Nikki Hyatt; and also her special friends and neighbors at Courtyard Apartments.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Interment followed the service. Pallbearers were selected from family and friends.

7816 Ruby Louise Eller, age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on January 7, 1929 to the late Carl and Ollie Furches Walsh. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband Devon Eller, daughter, Sandra Kay Eller Proffitt, son-in-law, Willis Walker, sisters, Virgie Stout and Lonita Owens, brothers, Frank Walsh and Richard Walsh and grandsons, Richard Proffitt and David Mullis.

Louise was a gifted seamstress and worked for many years at various companies. She enjoyed working word search puzzle books and jig saw puzzles. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Louise was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and charter member of Calvary's Ladies Circle. She loved her church and church family and was always involved in various church activities.

7817 Ruby Louise Johnson Shoupe, 84, of Newland, North Carolina passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at her son's residence in Newland.

Ruby was born on December 5, 1936 in Avery County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Theodore Johnson and the late Iva Young Johnson.

She was a devoted and faithful member of the Johnson Chapel who loved her church and worshiping her Savior Jesus Christ. Ruby was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. Sewing brought her much pleasure as did cooking and preparing meals for her family, friends, and neighbors.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Jim Shoupe and a son, Keith Shoupe.

Ruby leaves behind to cherish her memory four sons, Richard (Joyce) Shoupe of Newland, NC, Bill (Diane) Shoupe of Rogersville, TN, Jim (Amelia) Shoupe of Newland, NC, Joe (Rebecca) Shoupe of Spruce Pine, NC; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Randy) Clark, Kim (Jason) Lolies, John (Samantha) Shoupe, Melinda Shoupe, Josh (Whitney) Shoupe, Elijah (Canaan) Shoupe, Caleb (Mattie) Shoupe, Noah Shoupe; ten great grandchildren, Macayla Benfield, Dalton Benfield, Tyler Smith, Marissa Lolies, Grayson Lolies, Savannah Shoupe, Austin Shoupe, Henry Shoupe, Zeke and Hannah Shoupe.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Carrick & Lucy Helen McCoury Johnson. She was retired from US Textile, Newland, North Carolina. She loved to work crossword puzzles and go to yard sales. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Sam Whitehead who passed away March 9, 2016, by a son Kevin Whitehead who passed away March 17, 2021, and a sister Judy Lacy. She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Rita Tolley, Roan Mountain, Clifford Whitehead and companion Judy King, Hampton and Roger Whitehead and wife Margaret, Elizabethton. Six Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One Sister: Jodie Smith and husband Malcolm, Roan Mountain and a brother: Rudy Johnson & wife Patricia, Elizabethton. Mrs. Loveless attended Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Jack Deloach. Survivors include Two Sons: Robin Mitchell Loveless, of the home, and Mickey Brian Loveless, Piney Flats; Three other Sisters: Charlotte Walker, of Ohio, Carolyn Jenkins, Elizabethton, and Shirley Smith; Three Brothers: Lloyd Grady Deloach, Carl Deloach and Jimmy Deloach, all of Elizabethton; and Several Nieces & Nephews. 7820 Ruby Mae Harper, age 89, went to be with her lord on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on October 23, 1930 to the late Joe Norris and Ila Thelma Reece Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Harper; son, Wayne Harper; son-in-law, Lester Rominger; sisters, Elizabeth Horne, Laura Sue Norris, Josephine Revelle, Catherine Absher; brothers, Junior Clay Norris, Mack Norris, and Jimmy Dean Norris.

Ruby loved to quilt, crochet, work in her flowers, have yard sales, set on her front porch, cook big meals for her family at holidays, and make apple butter the old fashioned way. She raised her children with a firm , but loving, hand. She was called by many names, but the ones she loved most was being called “Mamaw” by her grandchildren and “Granny” by her precious great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son Robert Harper and wife Carol; daughters, Thelma Garner and husband Ken, and Sue Rominger; Grandchildren, Kevin Rominger and wife Luray, Beverly Rominger -Gurley and husband Trey, Jason Garner and wife Laura, Logan Garner and fiancé MyKayla Woods, Katie Harper-Waterman and husband A.J.; great-grandchildren, Kacie Rominger, Jesse Rominger, Olivia Gurley, Harper Gurley, Isaac Garner, Farrah Garner, and Silas Garner; step great-grandchildren, William DeJonge and wife Caroline, and Ryan DeJonge; sisters, Carrie Pennington, Betty Stanley, Kate Stanley and husband J.E., Louise Morefield and husband Harold; one brother, Tommy Jack Norris; many nieces and nephews.

7821 Ruby Mae Long, 84, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at her home. She was born to the late Richard and Glady Fletcher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William James Long; brother, R.E. Fletcher; and sisters, Rita White and Irene Collazo.
Ruby was a member of Southern Baptist Church, Hammond, Ind., and attended Eastside FWB Church in Elizabethton. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She had a passion for reading her Bible and attending Bible classes. She loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Teresa Heaton (Louie) of Elizabethton and Angie Winters of Asheville; son, Dr. Billy Joe Long (Lisa) of Roanoke, Va.; seven grandchildren, Aaron Winters, Tony Heaton, Christopher Heaton, Sabrina Heaton, Conner Long, Logan Mackley and Zachary Mackley; several great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Fletcher of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Pearl Trivette and Dora Long, both of Elizabethton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Bud” Bradshaw; a son, Timmy Blevins; a sister, Pauline Arnold; and a brother, Jack Berry.

7823 Ruby Pauline "Polly" Collins, 80 years young, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center. She went to join her savior, her husband Paul of 55 years, and their daughter Pat of 24 years.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle Pritchard Sneed of Elizabethton.
Polly retired from Siemens Electronics. She was a proud attendee of New Life Tabernacle of Johnson City.
Polly and Paul enjoyed traveling and camping all over the country, meeting and making friends wherever they went. Polly loved time spent with her family and her friends and especially enjoyed time spent with her friends and employees at the Southern Café where she worked with her daughter Ruby.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruby Malone and her husband Ronnie of Watauga, Theresa Hopson and her husband Jimmy of Dandridge and Pauletta Richardson of Elizabethton; one adopted daughter/granddaughter, Crystal Collins of Elizabethton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; and one surviving sister, Marie Baird of Elizabethton.
The family will gather for a final farewell at Memorial Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 4, at 1:20 p.m. with a graveside service to be held at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. 7824 Ruby Roeanna Smith Julian, of 395 Old Mill Road, Elk Park, NC, was to turn 93 on November 3rd.

A lifelong resident of Avery County, she was born on November 3, 1915, and passed away on October 25, 2008, at her daughter's home in Dahlonega, GA.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adrian Frank Julian Sr. She was the last survivor of the seven Smith girls of Charles A. Smith and Rose Turbyfill. She was an active member of the Elk Park Christian Church.

Mrs. Julian was a teacher by profession, an educator by nature, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She retired from the Avery County School System after 40 years of teaching. She started teaching in a small, one room schoolhouse and gave children the one thing only a true teacher and mother can — the belief that they could succeed. It didn't matter where they came from, she believed in them and they, in turn, learned to believe in themselves.

Ruby loved her garden and watching her soaps especially The Young &The Restless and The Bold & Beautiful. She retired from Motorola in Arizona. Ruby loved taking care of her pets.

7826 Ruby Winters Dugger, age 88, formerly of 1815 Southside Road, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 in the Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.

She was a native of Johnson County and a daughter of the late John and Susan Arnold Winters. Mrs. Dugger was a member of Southside Christian Church. She had worked in food service at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and at McDonald's, Elizabethton. For many years, she enjoyed being a volunteer at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dugger was preceded in death by her husband, Tip Dugger, two sons: Terry Lee Dugger and Randy Tip Dugger, one daughter: Helen Ann Grindstaff, and one granddaughter: Jennifer Grindstaff.

Mrs. Dugger is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: David and Evelyn Dugger, Elizabethton, a daughter-in-law: Eva Dugger, Camden, TN, a son-in-law: Dennis Grindstaff, Elizabethton, grandchildren: Melissa Clemons, Kevin Grindstaff, Melanie Barnett, Terra Wampler, Derek Cornett, Sarah Younce, Rikki Dugger and J. L. Thomas, nineteen great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law: Seffie Dugger, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Dugger will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 27th in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Mr. Derek Cornett and Mr. Michael Koruschak, ministers, officiating. 1st I do will and bequeath that my estate both real and personal shall be kept together for the term of three years after my decease unsold and undivided under the superintendence and management of my hereinafter named executor or my administrators; for the purpose of paying my just debts, with the proceeds there of unless the same be sooner paid.

2nd. I do Will and bequeath that at the expiration of said term of three years, all my real estate, attached to the plantation on which I now reside may be sold at the discretion of my executor or admin' and can junction with my wife ABBA DELOACH and the proceeds there of applied to the payment of such of my debts as may remain unpaid. And that the remainder of the proceeds of said sale [if any] be equally divided between my beloved ABBA and my sons JESSE and JOHN M. DELOACH, but should my executor and my wife ABBA not deem it expedient to sell my aforesaid real estate then, I will & bequeath same to my said wife, ABBA and my sons JESSE & JOHN DELOACH.

7829 Russell "Gene" Dugger, age 79, of Laurel Bloomery, TN, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Mountain City Care Center. Gene was the son of the late Russell and Ruth Dugger of Neva, TN. Gene was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Dugger; 3 daughters, Patsy Ellis of Granite Falls, NC; Kimberly Young and husband Ronald of Vale, NC; and Kristy Dugger and fiancé Brian DuPerry of Laurel Bloomery, TN; 3 sons, Tony Dugger of Mountain City, TN; Wayne Dugger and wife Kathy of Newton, NC; Roger Dugger and wife Lois of Mountain City, TN; one sister Gloria "Pete" Anthony and one brother Joey Dugger. Mr. Dugger is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

7830 Russell Berry "R.B." Blevins, age 84, of Shady Valley, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at his residence.

Berry was born March 28, 1924, in Johnson County, TN, to the late Isaac C. and Gertie Mae Long Blevins. Berry was a life long resident of Shady Valley and enjoyed farming, hunting, cars, all sports, especially the UT Vols. He was a member of the Shady Valley baseball team.

He was a member of Shady Valley Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and song leader for several years. He loved his family and will be truly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mona McQueen, Sue Barry and Nina Sams; and two brothers, Blaine Blevins and Ozra Blevins.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Azona Blevins; two daughters, Lisa Watson and husband, Chris, of Shady Valley, and Teresa Ann Owens, of Damascus, VA; four sons, Ronnie Blevins and wife, Jewell, of Nicholasville, KY, Roger Blevins and wife, Lois, of Shady Valley, Tim Blevins and wife, Melanie, of Knoxville, TN, and Cleve Blevins and wife, Kentia, of Lakeland, FL.; grandchildren, Jody Blevins, Angie Manz and husband, Dan, Jeffery Blevins, Drew Phillips, Amy Phillips, Troy Owens, Brandi Owens, Logan Blevins, Grant Blevins, Madison Blevins, Kristen Watson, Kelsey Watson and Hannah Blevins; three great grandchildren, Kelsa Blevins, Jacob and Olivia Manz; and several nieces and nephews.

7832 Russell Virgil Greer, age 77, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, December 06, 2018, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on November 12, 1941 to the late Taff and Essie Price Greer. In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by brothers, Max, Jimmy, Bobby Ray.

Virgil retired from the Town of Mountain City Water Department. He loved his job there and made many friends throughout the years. Virgil was also a farmer, which he loved. He was always friendly and smiling and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 50 years, Marsone Campbell Greer; sister, Pearl Greer Stout; brothers, Earl Greer and Junior Greer and several special great nieces and great nephews.

7833 RUSSELLVILLE - Lou Ellen Clark, age 71, of Russellville, Tennessee formerly of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at her residence. Lou Ellen was born July 4, 1950 in Elizabethton to the late Edward Clarence Strickland and Frances Collins Strickland. In addition to her parents, Lou Ellen was also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Ray Hardin.
Lou Ellen found love and married Earl Ray Hardin and she was a loving caregiver to Earl Ray. When Earl Ray passed away in August of 1990, Lou Ellen found love again with Larry Dale Clark and they were married on February 15, 1992.
Lou Ellen graduated from Hampton High School and was a member of Centenary UMC of Morristown. She served as Vice President of Security Federal Savings Bank until her retirement. Lou Ellen served many positions at the churches she attended including Sunday School Teacher, Finance/ Treasurer and United Methodist Woman.

She was born on May 26, 1927, in Seven Devils, NC, a daughter of the late Clinard Hodges and the late Daisy Yarber Hodges.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband: Floyd Shook; Two Daughters: Norma Jean Shook and Teresa Shook; Five Brothers: Jimmy, Lynn, Bill, Ronald, and Marshall Hodges; Three Sisters: Lola Rupard, Edna Arnett, Pansey Hodges; Two Grandchildren: Larry Wayne Shook and Tina Shook; Great-Grandchild: Cody Lee Arnett; Daughter-In-Law: Martha Shook.

Kat was a member of White Rock Baptist Church. She enjoyed Flowers, Gardening, and Loafering. She enjoyed listening to Country and Gospel Music. She also enjoyed listening to Conway Twitty and Charley Pride.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late David F. and Ethel Clawson Rainbolt. Mrs. Williams was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and sister who showed love to everyone she came in contact with. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and especially spending time with her sisters whom she adored.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Williams; a son, Danny "Ralph" Williams and two brothers, John Rainbolt and Charles "Bud" Rainbolt.

7836 Ruth Alice Norris Elliott, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Guy David and Gladys Greenwell Norris. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Ruth attended Watauga Academy and graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1944. She took her nursing training at the Cadet Nursing School, Baptist Hospital, Nashville. She worked at the former Carter County Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens and Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Silas Wayne Elliott in 1996 and by a sister: Rudene Forrester.
Survivors include Three Children and their spouses: Kathy & Roy Dula, Sandra & Roy Miller and Gary & Karen Elliott all of Elizabethton. Six Grandchildren: Kristi Haws and husband Carter, Eric Miller, Jason Elliott and wife Michele, Suzanne Elliott and Chris Runion , Mark Dula and wife Taylor and Erin Dula. 7837 Ruth Ann Martin Lundy, 79, of Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord on Friday morning, February 15, 2019, at Greystone Healthcare Center following a three-week battle with cancer.
Ruth spent her younger years growing up in Siam until her teens when the family moved to Johnson City. She was a graduate of Science Hill High School and went on to complete her LPN and RN, and BSN at East Tennessee State University. Ruth or "Ruth Ann" started out her career as a Candy Striper and then as an LPN at the old Johnson City Memorial Hospital. Throughout her career she taught nursing and was the Assistant Director of Nursing at The Christian Village. She worked for many years as a Psyche Nurse, starting at Watauga Mental Health and then Woodridge. She would later move to help start the Psyche Unit at Northside Hospital in Johnson City where she retired.
Ruth loved to play cards, travel and shop. In her later years she had two special pets, Cocoa and then Roxie. We have no doubt they were waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge. She was a gifted singer and song writer bringing much comfort and joy to others. She freely sang for friends, family, and church congregations. Her original songs were angelic and provided her some peace as well as others who were fortunate enough to hear them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Sizemore Martin Sr. and Helen Roberta Shell Martin, and a brother, Thomas S. Martin Jr., of Johnson City.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny Ogletree (Paul) of Blountville; brother, Fred Martin (Diane) of Sevierville; niece, Alison Martin-Creed (Robert) of Arlington; and nephew, Alan "Lanny" Martin (Katie) of Knoxville.

Born on July 28, 1922 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Dovie Davis Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Hoilman who passed away in 1988. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Little and Lucy Estep Carter.

Ruth was a member of Hopwood Christian Church and volunteered at the Ladies Auxiliary, Carter County Memorial and Sycamore Shoals Hospital for over 20 years. Ruth was an Election Clerk for six decades.

She enjoyed crocheting and was a wonderful baker and many times the citizens of the Tri-Cities could taste her delicious cakes at her son, Alan Howell's restaurant, Dixie B-B-Q.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dottie Howell; siblings, Dana Clarence "Bounce" Carter, Olaf Parker Carter, Bronson Little Carter, William Dale "Bob" Carter, Louis Ray Carter, Zelma Inez Carter Crawford, Charlotte Sue Carter Jackson, Bruce Estep Carter and Lois Frye Carter.

She leaves behind sons and daughters-in-law, William D. Howell Jr. and Rose Ann Howell, Johnson City, and Alan and Mary Ann Howell, Piney Flats; sister, Margaret Nell Carter Gagaliano, New Orleans, LA; brother, George Carter, Elizabethton; grandchildren, Hannah Ruth Howell, Elizabethton, and Richard "Richie" Alan Howell Jr., Johnson City; and a great-granddaughter, Mariah Ann Howell, Johnson City. A native of Johnson County, TN, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Eliza Eller.

Mrs. Clarke was a member of Berea Free Will Baptist Church and was a school teacher at Stratton School. She received her master’s degree from ETSU in 1950. Mrs. Clarke was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewel Clarke in 1946; one sister, Olive Humphreys; four brothers, Bruce, Fred, Howard, and Ray Eller. Survivors include two sisters; Kate Eller Shupe, Mountain City, TN, and Maurene Eller Robinson, Wilmington, DE; one brother and sister in-law Jack and June Eller, Johnson City, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Pearl Walsh Lipford. Ruth was a graduate of Watauga Academy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Williams, who died April 27, 1987; by a brother and sister-in-law: Buster and Margaret Peters Lipford.

She has one daughter, Sue Carol Ward and son-in-law, Darrell Ward; and one grandchild, Jamie Darrell and wife, Heather Leigh Ward; One great grandchild, Haleigh Jean Ward; Two nieces, Sherry Lynn and husband, Russell Kyte, and their son, David Kyte, his daughter, Taylor; Glenda Pearl and husband, Wayne Treadway, and their son, William Glenn.

She was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church, an active member until this past year, working in the WMU, Choir Members, Sunday School Teacher, working in Bible School and always making chicken and dumplings for our meetings. She also sent many cards to the sick.

She was the Best Mom a person could have, and we are so proud of her. She would always say "Let's pray about it."

7844 Ruth Millsaps Dillard passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Life Care of Elizabethton.

Today our family, friends and community celebrate the life of Ruth Millsaps Dillard. Ruth was born September 2, 1915, in Mountain City, TN, to the late David and Amelia Moore Nave. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ellard "Birdeye" Millsaps; a daughter, Florence Millsaps Isaacs, in 1984; three Sisters, Mary Alice Stout, Artie Lott and Kate Thomas; four Brothers, John Nave, Ralph Nave, Ike Nave and Luther Nave,

Ruth and her family moved from Old Butler in 1948. She and her family relocated to the present day community of Butler, TN. Prior to her death she was one of a handful of original surviving residents from Old Butler.

Ruth, along with her husband, were proprietors of Birdseye's Service Station and Grill for 30 years. Ruth had decades of fond memories and events that occurred over the years. She spoke fondly of the many friends she was blessed to know during her years in Butler. Ruth was active in the community and welcomed all to her home on Main Street.

During the move from Old Butler, Ruth would hear the sound of buildings being moved to the newly established community of Butler and with each home and business that relocated, she knew that another part of the original town was gone. Through her relentless spirit and determination, she along with her husband, built a home and business that would contribute in many ways to the community and be a loving place to raise their family.

As years passed, Ruth was always eager to share her knowledge of the community, the changes she lived through, and shared many of the stories she experienced with her many friends and neighbors. These are precious memories that will live on in our hearts forever.

Ruth married Jess Dillard in 1982 and they continued to reside in Butler. Ruth and Jess spent 29 happy years together. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Butler Baptist Church.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Matherly, of Powell, TN, and Doris Ann Harry and husband, Bill, of Butler; one son, Raymond Millsaps and wife, Imogene, of Elizabethton; Special family friend, George Richmond, of Oak Ridge, TN; 10 Grandchildren: Deborah Woodward, Amelia Jarvis, Bo Matherly, Steve Isaacs, Pat Rhudy, David Millsaps, Doug Millsaps, Candice Sieiro, Rena Tittle and Michael White; 12 Great Grandchildren; 9 Great Great Grandchildren; and 8 Step-Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Daniel Wood officiating. Music will be provided by Sharon and Sara Millsaps and Rev. Daniel Wood.

Burial will follow the service in the Butler Memorial Cemetery with music provided by Jon Shell, Piper.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to be at the funeral home by 1:55 p.m., are: David Millsaps, Doug Millsaps and Steve Isaacs, Bo Matherly, Matthew Millsaps, Ben Isaacs, Tony Rhudy and Walt Tittle III. Honorary Pallbearers are: Bill Shoun, Larry Shoun, George Lowe, Michael White, Jim Ferguson, Lloyd McFadden, Bob Harry, George Richmond, Chester Harmon and Darrell Campbell.

7845 Ruth Murray Estep age 90, of Elk Park, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at the Life Care Center in Banner Elk. Ruth was born on Dec. 29, 1929, in Avery County to the late Charley and Ida Brown Stines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: Harvey Estep; three Brothers: Floyd, Clyde, and Coy Stines; three Sisters: Addy Estep, Ula Ward, and Verdi Vines.

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was employed by Cannon Memorial Hospital for 14 years. She enjoyed watching game shows and the Hallmark Channel. She also enjoyed listening the radio and reading her Bible.

Those left to cherish her memory are two Sons: Dean Estep and wife Evelyn, and Marshall Estep and wife Lois all of Elk Park; one Daughter: Phyllis Mitchel and husband, Mike, of Elk Park; one Sister: Viola Phillips of Vilas; five Grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland, with Rev. Richard Jones officiating.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be private at McGuire Cemetery.

7846 Ruth Opal Garland Campbell, 92, formerly of Shady Valley, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Erwin Health Care Center, Erwin, Tenn. She was born in Shady Valley, Tenn., on February 19, 1925 to the late Robert Garland and Emma Grace Rambo Garland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker and she really enjoyed working on her farm.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews and her sister-in-law, Ardna Campbell.
The family would like to especially thank Erwin Health Care Center in Unicoi, Tenn., for the last eight and one-half years of care they gave to "Aunt Ruth." The family really thanks and appreciates the center for all they did for her. Also, a special thanks to her public guardian, Wanda Martin, and her assistant Karrie, for seeing and caring for Ruth.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Shady Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Music will be provided by Faye Campbell.

7847 Ruth Rhymer, age 88, of 415 McElyea Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at the Mountain City Care Center on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, she was born on November 16, 1916 to the late Andy and Cora Dyson. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Willis Rhymer, who passed away in 1975; one daughter, Violet Rhymer Eller, who passed away in 2002; four sisters, Pauline Guy, Ruby Woods, Kitty Phillips and Shirley Blevins and two infant brothers. She loved quilting and embroidering. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Burl Rhymer and wife Helen of Jessup, Maryland and Earl Rhymer of Mountain City; six grandchildren; Patsy Cullop, Tommy Rhymer, Bridgett Henson all of Mountain City, Michael Rhymer of Texas, Burley Rhymer and William Rhymer, both of Maryland; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Dyson and Andy Dyson, both of Mountain City and two sisters, Mary Woods and Katherine Dyson, both of Moutain City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 from the First Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Wills and Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Donnelly Cenetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Ronda Reece, Bill Moore, Bud McComas, Clifford Woods, Charles Dyson and Harold Woods.
The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Thursday April 7, 2005 at the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home, where the body will remain until taken to the First Baptist Church to lie in state one hour prior to Services Friday.

7848 Ruth Stoots, 95, went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, December 24, 2021, with family at her side.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was born to the late Green Berry Ledford and Mattie Hurt Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Stoots, who passed away in 1986; three brothers, Leon, GB, and Roy Lee Ledford; two sisters, Irene Ledford Harrell and Erma Sue Ledford Hicks; son-in-law, Barry Triplett, and daughter-in-law, Tammie Stoots.
Ruth was a very special lady. She received the Lord as her Savior as a young girl and was known for her loving, kind, sweet spirit. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a homemaker most of her life and was the best Mama anyone could ever have, loved dearly by her whole family.
Those left to cherish her memory include three children, Tyonnia Stoots Triplett, Ricky Stoots, Terry Stoots Beckman and husband, Dave; six grandchildren, Billy Triplett (Rachael), Lesli Triplett Miller, Elizabeth Triplett Presnell (Stephen), Steven Stoots (Mandy), Shannon Beckman (Debbie), and Amber Beckman Street (Brad); fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

7849 Ruth Tester Jones, 94, John-son City, TN, passed away May 6, 2015, at Ap-pa-la-chian Chris-tian Vil-lage.
Born May 30, 1920, in the Sugar Hol-low area of Carter County, TN, she was one of four-teen chil-dren of Eli Fin-ley and Sarah Ca-mo-line Pre-snell Tester.
Ruth grew up in Carter County and at-tended Elk Mills High School. She and her hus-band re-sided in John-son City, TN.
Ruth was a home-maker, an Amer-i-can Red Cross Vol-un-teer for many years, served as a fed-eral data col-lec-tor for sev-eral years, con-ducted sur-veys for the Na-tional Broad-cast-ing Cor-po-ra-tion (NBC), and earned The Sam Wal-ton Award, Wal-Mart Cor-po-ra-tion.
Above all, she was de-voted to her fam-ily. She was of the Bap-tist faith and at-tended Cen-tral Bap-tist Church, John-son City, TN.
Her hus-band, Eugene Broyles Jones Sr., died in 2003. She was pre-de-ceased by twelve broth-ers and sis-ters: David McCoy Tester, Queen Aner Rominger, Har-vey Earl Tester, Sarah Ma-tilda Camp-bell, Fin-ley Pierce Tester, Ben-nie Wal-ter Tester, Ida Ca-mo-line Fin-ney, Luke Lee Tester, Nel-son Rich-ard Tester, Ruby Edith Triv-ette, Louis Mar-shall Tester and Anna Mae Enter. One brother, Wil-liam (Bill) Howard Tester, lives in Mor-ris-town, TN.
Ruth is sur-vived by four sons: Gene and wife, Joy, of Jack-son-ville, NC, Frank and wife, Anne, of Vir-ginia Beach, VA, Ken, of Falls Church, VA, Larry and wife, De-bra, of Myr-tle Beach, SC. She has eight grand-chil-dren, nine great-grand-chil-dren, many nieces and neph-ews and friends.

EAST RIDGE — Mrs. Ruth Trivett, 94, of East Ridge, departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 13, 2006.

She was a long time member of Piney Flats Presbyterian Church in Piney Flats, Tennessee, where she played the piano for over 30 years. She attended McFarland United Methodist Church, Rossville, Georgia, for the last 12 years. She loved music, the outdoors, watching sporting events and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Trivett Sr.; and her parents, Arthur and Vesta Shell; and a brother, Thurman Shell.

Survivors include her children, Joyce (Roy) Brookshire, Chattanooga, Bill (Ann) Trivett, Nashville; grandchildren, Debbie (Kenny) Parsons, Mike (Temple) Brookshire, and Danny (Rhonda) Brookshire, all of Chattanooga, Shelley (Clay) Dye, Wilmington, NC, Paige Trivett, Washington, DC, Chase Trivett, Nashville; sister, Mary Emma Martin, Piney Flats, TN; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; several nieces & nephews.

Services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Piney Flats Presbyterian Church, Piney Flats, TN, with Dr. Robert Rainwater and Rev. Gary Grogg officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in Shell Cemetery, Piney Flats, with grandsons Michael Brookshire, Danny Brookshire, Chase Trivett, and nephews Don King, Carroll Shell, Larry Torbett, John Trivett and Rick Trivett serving as pallbearers.

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to Phyllis Rice for her excellent and loving care for the past 2 years that allowed Ruth to live at her home until her death.
