6951 Peggy Barkley Dugger, age 89 died March 26, 2018 at Regency Retirement Village after an 18 year journey with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born Peggy Mae Barkley on an unusual snowy April 28, 1928 in Johnson City, Tennessee. She moved to Elizabethton as an infant when her parents opened Barkley's Men's Clothing Store in 1930. As a teenager, she worked in the store and learn the craft of sewing by altering men's suits. Peggy loved to sew and had continuous sewing projects for the next 60 years. As a child, she studied ballet and tap dance for 10 years until a basketball injury sidelined her dreams. She loved to jitterbug, swing dance and taught dance at Morristown College in the early 1960s.

Peggy was a graduate of the Elizabethton High School Class of 1946, where she loved her classmates and enjoyed reunions. She attended Virginia Intermont College for two years then married John Dugger in 1949. They resided in West Knoxville from 1952 to 1960 while John was Assistant US attorney. In 1961, they moved to Morristown where she resided until her death.

Peggy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she spent countless hours needlepointing prayer benches and cross stitching Christmas ornaments. She was a 50+ year member of the GFWC Ladies Reading Circle and past president. Peggy was active in the Hamblen County Republican Women in the 1960s and 1970s and served on the state Republican Executive Committee.

Peggy was a loving person, who cared for her mother, who died of cancer and her grandmother, who also died at the age of 89 of Alzheimer's.

Peggy loved swimming and waterskiing until age 68, along with golfing, working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She would tackle any project from cementing patios, rock walls, wall paper, putting up crown molding and refinishing furniture, to name a few. Peggy was an avid reader and visited almost all national parks. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, Greece, Turkey, Canada, Mexico, throughout South America, including the Galapagos Islands where she liked telling about swimming with the penguins.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, State Sen. John F Dugger, parents Roy and Mae Richards Barkley, daughter Brenda Dugger, infant son, Barkley Dugger, cousins raised as sisters, Helen Richards Bailey and Lola Richards Kent.

Peggy is survived by her son and caregiver for the past 18 years, Hon. John F Dugger, Jr. who got her ready for bed almost every night and got her up every weekend morning, and wife, Jean Anne of Mohawk, TN. Daughter, Rebecca Griffin and husband Jim, of Charlotte, NC, sister-in-law Jane Dugger, of Elizabethton, TN and nephews, Garner Bailey of Johnson City, TN, Ret. Lt. Col Michael Kent and wife, Lee, of Warm Springs, GA, Mark Dugger and wife, Vickie, and Thomas Fouts of Elizabethton, TN and nieces Kathy Dugger Edwards and husband, Keith, of Elizabethton, TN and Patti Kent Leonard and husband Ret. Sgt Major, Ken, of Georgetown, TX along with several great nephews and nieces.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the special care Peggy received from caregivers, Lois Stroud (after 9 years they bonded), Pat Bain, Margie Guinn, Regina Owens, Alice Smalling, Chris Kyle, Anne Davis, Ellie Gamber, Hallie Riggs, Heather Holmes, Jamie Wilson, Carrie Bailey, Vinnie Else, Lisa Brewer, Regency Retirement Village Staff, especially memory care staff and nurse Becky Tuttle, Dr. Gupta and nurse, Corey, Smokey Mountain Hospice and nurse, Greta.

Pallbearers are: Garner Bailey, Mark Dugger, Tommy Rogers, Andy Jones, Mike Lynch and Ron Renner.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and 7:00PM to 8:00PM at Mayes Mortuary, Morristown, TN.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 10:30AM, officiated by Pastor Fred Lehrer, at Jarnigan Cemetery, Morristown, TN. Anyone wishing to attend will meet at the cemetery.

6952 Peggy Bernice Irick, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016, at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James Ray and Polly Harmon Irick. Peggy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Survivors include several cousins. Funeral services for Peggy Bernice Irick will be conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Eddy Craft and Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, ministers, officiating. Music will be by the congregation. Interment will follow at a later date in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. 6953 Peggy Charlyeene Whitehead passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019. She was born on September 22, 1939 in Roan Mountain, Tenn., and was the daughter of Dayton and Mollie Whitehead of Whitehead Hill, Roan Mountain. She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from North American Rayon in Elizabethton.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with her daughter, granddaughter, son-in-law, and her grandpups, Josie and Candy. Most of her days were spent with special friends at Blue Ridge Housing in Elk Park, N.C. Her life-long love was watching NASCAR and cheering for Jeff Gordon. She also enjoyed her early morning visits to the RAMS Rack in Newland, N.C.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mike Davis of Roan Mountain; granddaughter and husband, Kaylea and Derek Shelton of Elizabethton; sister, Geraldine Arney of Hampton; and a special niece and husband, LaGina and David Vaught of Jonesborough, Tenn. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dayton; her mother, Mollie; brothers, Byrl, Brady "BL", Lawrence, Gene, Vernon and Darrell Whitehead; and sisters, Lola Butler, Voretta and Ruth Hill and infant Joyce Elizabeth Whitehead.

6954 Peggy Garland, age 79, formerly of Roan Mountain, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2015, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness.

Peggy was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Bernie and Ella Roark McCoury.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby McCoury; and a sister, Margaret Taylor.

Ms. Garland retired from Cannon Memorial Hospital in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where she worked in food service.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain and was a former member of Order of Eastern Star of Roan Mountain.

She enjoyed both spending time with and taking care of her family and home cooking.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Holliday and husband Ron, of Aurora, Colorado, and Marla Riley, of Winder, Georgia; one son, Scott Garland, of Shenandoah, Iowa; four grandchildren, Lyra and Katie Holliday, both of Aurora, Colorado, and Jon and Josh Riley, both of Winder, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Cali and Kendal Riley, both of Winder, Georgia; one sister, Bonnie Odom, Elizabethton; one sister-in-law, Barbara McCoury, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A gathering of remembrance for Ms. Peggy Garland will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2015, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Rev. Jerry McCoury, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Charlotte Smith.

There will be a private inurnment service held in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery.

6955 Peggy Ilene White Chambers, 69, of Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 21, 2018, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Stanley F. and Mary R. Stout White.
Peggy was a graduate of Hampton High School. She was a homemaker, loving mother, and granny to so many others outside her family.
Peggy was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Chambers; two sisters, Betty Smith and Lorene Hudson; and three brothers, David, Spencer and Lonnie White.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Williams-Gabel, and son-in-law, John, Elizabethton; a grandson, Jonah Gabel; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Jim Barnett, Jonesborough; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jean White, Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend, Jeanette Williams.
A service to celebrate the life of Peggy Chambers will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Duncan officiating. Music will be provided by her daughter, Julie Williams. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men at Union Baptist Church. 6956 Peggy J. Ornduff, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in the Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Lee and Gladys Gentry Ornduff. Peggy was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, and East Tennessee State College, where she received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She was employed by the Johnson City School System for over 40 years as an Elementary School Teacher. Peggy was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for several years. She was a member of the ADKA Teachers Sorority, Friend of the Library, member of the Book Club and loved to travel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Harry L. Ornduff; a sister: Frances E. Ornduff; and a nephew: Eric Lee Collins. Survivors include a sister: Millie Jane Collins and her husband, Gerald "Pete" Collins, Elizabethton; Two Brothers: Richard D. 6957 Peggy Jean Snyder Hodges went to be at home with the Lord on the morning of Sunday, June 13, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born October 18, 1934, in Butler, TN, the firstborn of Elbert H. and Alice Reece Snyder. She attended Mary Hughes School. At the age of 16, she married her lifelong sweetheart, Graham Hodges, of Piney Flats. Their marriage endured for over 68 years, until Graham’s passing just 16 months ago.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Dean Snyder, and her sister Betty Snyder Bennett, and sister-in-law Judy Snyder.

She is survived by her three children: Rondy Lynn Hodges and wife Diana, Linda Kay Hodges Smith and husband, Larry, and Mark Edward Hodges and wife Vickie. Peggy adored her 11 grandchildren: Alan Hodges (April), Spencer Hodges, Tyler Hodges (Samantha), Mackenzie Hodges Moore (Philip), Amy Lynn Coppedge, Daniel Smith (Vanessa), Sarah Smith King (Jonathan), Geoffrey Smith (fiancé Lindsey), Jaime Hodges Johnson (Steven), Riley Hodges Sturgill (Jeremiah), step-grandson Joseph Hurley (Lauren). Her 11 great grandchildren are Allison Hodges, Kaylyn and Ryne Smith, Allison and Josiah Johnson, Pelegren and Theodore Sturgill, Elizabeth Hodges and baby brother to be born in August, Izabella and Olivia Hurley. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Snyder, sister-in-law Laura Snyder, brother-in-law Richard Bennett; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was a member of New Bethel Presbyterian Church for 70 years, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women, served in many Vacation Bible Schools, and was adored for the hundreds of Jello eggs she would make for the children at Easter. She and Graham served for many years delivering Meals On Wheels. She was a past member of the Piney Flats Ruritan Club.

She worked for many years as a bank teller, beginning with First Peoples Bank, and retiring from First American Bank. So many people knew her for her outgoing and kind care for her customers.

Even though she lived frugally, Peggy was a very generous giver. She was well known for the joy she received from sharing hospitality and her good cooking. No one ever left her house hungry, and often with extras to go. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed her rapt attention and affection. To this day, her no-bake cookies have not been matched; she was always prepared to have a batch ready at a moment’s notice. She and Graham shared many happy days at Roan Mountain campground, where they introduced their grandchildren to the joys of camping, creek wading, s’mores, hot chocolate, and popcorn. She was a woman with a green thumb; she loved flowers and gardening and emphasized that one must be out there at the crack of dawn in order to have the best garden. She was especially fond of thick-sliced tomato sandwiches with a lot of mayonnaise.

The family would like to thank Deanna White, Barbara Good, and Sheila Frazier for taking such loving care of Peggy in the last year. Additional thanks go to Providence Home Health and Caris Hospice.

The family of Peggy Hodges will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Angus Shaw and Pastor Scott Wise officiating. A committal service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday at New Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Piney Flats. Pallbearers will be Peggy’s grandsons.

6958 Peggy Jean Ward Martin, age 71, Elizabethton passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010 at James H. and Cecile C. Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital following a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Frances Bowling Ward. Mrs. Martin attended Oak Street Baptist Church. She was a Program Clerk at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul H. Campbell, in 1982, her second husband, Harry L. “Buddy” Martin in 1998.
Survivors include three brothers. Several nieces and nephews, a special great nephew and a great great niece also survive.
Funeral service for Mrs. Peggy Jean Ward Martin, will be conducted at 7 P.M. Monday, July 5, 2010 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Steve Waycaster and Mr. Jack Ward, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday from 6 P.M. until 7 P.M.
Inurnment service will be conducted on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

6959 Peggy Main, age 81, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on September 9, 1940 to the late Delbert and Mary Ann Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Main, and brothers, Deck Lewis, Raymond Lewis, and Lark Lewis.

Peggy loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her bible. She worked at the glove plant, Merita Bread Store and Harris Teeter for many years. Peggy also enjoyed crocheting.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Dale Long; daughter, Debora McNew; sisters, Carnie Duffield and Mary Ann Price; grandchildren, Amanda, Mary, Daniel, and Thomas; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and burial for Peggy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday February 21, 2022 from the Phillippi Cemetery with Steven Spencer officiating.

6960 Peggy R. Henson, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 67, 311 Centennial Dr., Elizabethton, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. She was a native of Carter County, born to Rana Dugger Trivette, Poga and the late Elmer Trivette. Mrs. Henson was a member of Poga Church of Christ but had attended First Christian Church of Elizabethton. She retired from Levi-Strauss. Mrs. Henson loved the children of Princeton Prep Preschool.


Mrs. Henson is survived by her husband Charles Henson of the home, one daughter and son-in-law: Shelia and Mike Loudermilk, one special grandson: Justin Loudermilk, all of Johnson City, one brother and sister-in-law: Boyd and Donnis Trivette, Poga, one sister and brother-in-law: Glenda Kay and Richard Brush, Morristown, three sisters-in-law: Marquitta Greene and husband J.M., Elk Park, NC, Geraldine Stewart and husband David, Bernita Grindstaff and husband Luther, all of Johnson City three half brothers, Dale Trivette, MIke Trivette and Bobby Trivette and and special people in her life: The Hilman family, J. L. Collins and family, Floyd and Oma Lambert, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Range and the staff and families of Princeton Prep Preschool. Several very special nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.


The funeral service for Mrs. Henson will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30th in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Mr. J. C. Anderson, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel prior to the service or at the residence at any time.


The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 31st in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 9:50 a.m. Thursday at the cemetery for the service. Active pallbearers will be Bill Ward, Mike Greene, Richard Brush, John Hawkins and others selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be J. L. Collins and Floyd Lambert.

She was born on July 24, 1936, in Mitchell County, NC, a daughter of the late Steve Sparks and Ethel Pittman Sparks.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; husband, Bobbie Dennie; and four Brothers: Steve Sparks Jr., Rex Sparks, Phil Sparks and Hugh Sparks.


Peggy was a member of Pisgah Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, spending time with her family, and listening to Gospel music.

Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory her: Daughter: Kim Hoyes of Linville Falls, NC; Grandson: Cory Hoyes of Linville Falls, NC; Granddaughter: Megan (Ryan) Dean of Blanchester, OH; Sister: Brenda Price of Shelby, NC; Brother: Rick (Susan) Sparks of Myrtle Beach, SC; two Great-grandchildren: Christepher and Jade Dean of Blanchester, OH.

Jan. 13: Noah A. Pennington, 64,died at his home at Laurel Bloomery this morning, after a lingering illness. He had been a magistrate for 18 years, and was also a farmer and merchant.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.Sunday from State Line Baptist Church, with Rev. Hill Trivett, pastor, and Rev.E. W. Ely officiating. Burial was in State Line Cemetery, near the church.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs.Minerva Pennington, and these children: Mrs. Chester Greer and Robert Pennington of Damascus, Va., and Odell Pennington, Mrs. Elbert Gentry, Miss Lilly Pennington and Clem, Staley, Fred, Alice, Ina, Firman, Ivan, Wallace, and Elaine, all of Laurel Bloomery, a sister, Miss Lillie Pennington of Laurel Bloomery, and five grandchildren.

6963 PENSACOLA, FL - Charles Elmer Whitehead, 82, Pensacola, Florida passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1939 in Hampton, Tenn. To the late Elmer & Effie Holtzsclaw Whitehead. He was a graduate of Hampton High School and East Tennessee State University. Charles retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service. He was retired as Environmental Services Director of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He had lived in Florida since 2003. He was a member of the Fil-Am. He was a member of the Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Janet McCorkle.
Survivors include his wife: Gracita Awa-Ao Whitehead. One Daughter: Gracita (Sharli) Williams and husband Fred, Pensacola, Florida. Two Grandchildren: Chelsea Melber and Charles “Chase” Melber and wife Gaby. One Great Grandson: Martin Melber. Two Sisters: Phyllis Vines and Joyce Matherly. One Brother: Harold Leslie Whitehead.

6964 PENSACOLA, Fla. — Floyd Aroline “Meatball” Cornett, 83, of Pensacola, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born on December 12, 1938 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Fredrick Charles and Annie Amelia Hinkle Cornett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Junior, Albert, Charles, Howard and Billy Cornett; one sister, Emma Jean Cornett Harmon; and by several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Floyd worked at Chemstrand/Monsanto until he retired in 1994. He was then employed at Quest Diagnostics for 23 years until he retired in May of 2021.
Floyd was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gloria Fay Cornett; his children, Tammy (Craig) Ketterman, Donna Lombardi and Gary Durden; three grandchildren, Chuckie Ketterman, Tiffany Durden and Alex (Rebecca) Durden; two great-grandchildren, Alaska and Ellis; two sisters, Earlene Phillips and Joyce (Jeff) Henson. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home.

6968 Perry Hopson, 59, of the Roaring Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his home.

He was a son of Delpha Hughes Hopson of Roaring Creek and the late Rothrock Hopson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Paulette Hughes. He loved restoring old cars, carp fishing, but mostly he loved his family.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his loving wife of 35 years, Teresa Webb Hopson; daughter, Angel Dugger and husband, Andrew, of Licklog; sons, Chad Hopson and wife, Kristen, of Roaring Creek, and John Hopson and wife, Julie, of Roaring Creek; three grandchildren, Austin and Aaron Dugger and Savannah Hopson; sisters, Brickie Pittman and husband, Joe, of Spruce Pine and Nadine Helton and husband, Jerry, of Roaring Creek. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in The People's Church on Roaring Creek. The Rev. Daniel Nance, the Rev. Chris Nance and the Rev. Jody Almond officiated. Burial followed in the Hopson Family Cemetery. The family received friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers were Derick Hughes, Gabriel Wise, Joel Buchanan, Hansel Allen, Johnathan Hughes, Ray Howell and Shelton Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers were Aaron and Austin Dugger.

6971 Phebe (Masters) Bailey was married to Thomas J. Bailey. He was in the 10th Tennessee Infantry during the Civil War. She filed for widows pension 10 Sep 1888 (roll number:T288_17). They were in the census for 1860 but not in the 1870 so he died between that time.
Thomas was born about 1834 in Yancey Co.,NC, son of "Yellow Jacket" John Bailey and Lovada Ray.

6974 Phillip Lloyd Barrier, age 80, of Ingalls, North Carolina passed away on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 3, 1938 in Avery County, North Carolina, a son of the late Bob Barrier and the late Ruth Buchanan Barrier.

He graduated from the Cranberry High School and served his country in the United States Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Corporal. He returned home and worked for Glen Raven Mills in Newland before joining the North Carolina Department of Transportation, retiring as Assistant Superintendent for Avery County. After Phil retired from the DOT, he helped his youngest son run Belview Flowers Inc. He was a member of the Minneapolis Christian Church, where he had served as a Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School Superintendent for over 50 years. Phil loved to be outdoors, especially mowing his family's yards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Bobby "Grady" Barrier; twin sisters: Rose and Ruth Barrier; step mother: Addie B. Barrier; brother-in-law: Frank Thornton.

6975 Phillip Nelson Henline, Jr., age 93, of Biggerstaff Road in Spruce Pine, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the St. Joseph's Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.

Born on August 31, 1924 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Phillip Nelson Henline, Sr. and the late Belle Sparks Henline. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Buchanan Henline who passed away in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his brother; Howard Henline and his sister; Barbara Gouge.

Phillip was a member and deacon of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Henline Motor Company of Spruce Pine for over forty years. Phillip was a member of the Spruce Pine Lions Club for over sixty years and was a member of Vesper Masonic Lodge #554 A.F. and A.M for over sixty years also.

Left to cherish his memories are his son; Mark Henline and wife, Frances of Crossnore and his granddaughter; Noelle Gates and husband, Samuel of Crossnore, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

6976 Phillip Paul Gentry, age 67, of Mountain City passed away on Sunday May 13, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on December 23, 1950 to the late Mark P. Gentry and Lena B. Shores Gentry.

Phillip was a 1968 graduate of JCHS. Following high school, Phillip joined the United States Army and served during Vietnam. He retired from C.M. of Damascus, Virginia following 42 years of service. Phillip was a member of the Laurel Bloomery Volunteer Fire Department for several years and was a proud farmer, which he enjoyed very much.

Phillip was a member of Highlands Fellowship of Abingdon, VA, where he volunteered and ministered in their food pantry.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Betty Fenner Gentry; step children: Barbara Robinette and husband Jon, Johnna Robbins and husband Tom, Michael Cook and wife Sandy and Matthew Cook and wife April; eleven step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren; aunt, Hassie Mitchell; special friend, Paul Morrison and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Mr. Daniel Thomas officiating. Special music will be provided by Mr. Brett Smith. Military honors will follow and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip's step grandchildren.

6977 Phillip Wayne Whitehead, 76, of Elizabethton, passed away on March 17, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center after a long battle with diabetes and dementia.
Phillip was a native of Carter County and a graduate of Elizabethton High School, Class of 1964. He was the son of the late Everett and Betty Jo Lyons Whitehead.
Phillip was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Rod.
Survivors include his brothers, James “Jimmy” and wife Reba, and Dillard and wife Kathy; his sister, Diane Bishop and husband Jim; and a sister-in-law, Trena.
Phillip served with the United States Army successfully completing a Wheel and Track Vehicle Course at Fort Knox, Ky. He served in Germany at the rank of E5 and was honorably discharged in 1968. After his military service, he attended ETSU and Steed College majoring in Business, Business Law as well as Finance and Principles of Management.
There will be a private family service with interment to follow in the Whitehead Family Cemetery.

6983 Phyllis Ann McQueen Price, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
A native of Butler, she was a daughter of the late Rhonda and Laura Hodge McQueen.
Phyllis was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and was retired from ITT North Electric. She attended True Gospel Baptist Church. She had a very special relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Phyllis enjoyed going on vacations to Myrtle Beach with the family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Price, December 17, 2011.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Hyder and Rick (Sondra) Price, all of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Chris (Megan) Price, Matt Price, Kirk (Haylee) Price, Andera and Amy Hyder; and her great-grandchildren, Reagan Price, Sydney Price, Axel Price and Preston Price.

6984 Phyllis Audrey Elliott Edens, age 88, formerly of State Line Road, Elizabethton died at the Sycamore Springs Assisted Living Center, Elizabethton last Saturday evening, June 19, 2021. Born in Bristol, VA on April 15, 1933, Mrs. Edens was the daughter of the late James Ray Elliott, Sr. and widow of the late

J. Frank Edens, Jr. of Elizabethton. She was the niece of the late Maude Elliott-Osborne of Hampton’s Tiger Valley Community and granddaughter of Charles and Maude Blevins originally of Carden’s Bluff and later of Lynn Valley.

Mrs. Edens was a well-respected teacher in the Carter County School System for 36 years beginning at Tiger Valley Elementary School for her first two years, followed by her tenure at Hampton High School for the remainder. She held a B.S. degree from East Tennessee State University and also attended King College in the 1950’s. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church.

In addition to the aforementioned relatives, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Rondah (Kathlyn) Riddle and Mrs. Lawrence (Frances) Williams; two brothers, Retired Sgt. Major, James Ray Elliott, Jr., and Dr. Glen D. Elliott, and also a half brother, Howard Elliott.

She is survived by her two sons, Barton Edens of Race Street, Elizabethton and Joseph Kent Edens, State Line Road. Two half brothers, Kenneth Elliott, St. Petersburg, FL and Len Crutcher, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and a half sister, Karen Karchem, Chatsworth, CA. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home this Friday evening, June 25th from 6:00 until 9. The funeral service for Mrs. Edens will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in the funeral home chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister officiating. Special music will be presented by her brother, Len Crutcher. A graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

6985 Phyllis Dean Arnold, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Signature Health Care of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Phyllis was born in Elizabethton to the late Anders Odell "A.O." Buckles and Daisy Smith Buckles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Arnold, and her brothers, Troy and Norman Buckles.
Phyllis was a homemaker and a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, gardener, storyteller and sports enthusiast. She was also quite a fact finder and searcher of how things worked. Phyllis and her husband were living examples of the Bible verse, 1 John 3-18, "Little children, let us not love with word or tongue but in deed and truth." Though they did not have children by birth, they were blessed with a parent's heart and love. They became parents to all the children in the family, any they met and any person who needed love, regardless of age. Her life was God's given love of family, friends and children.
Phyllis is survived by a large extended family.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Phyllis Dean Arnold will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Todd Hallman officiating.

6986 Phyllis Simerly Ellis, 79, of High Point, N.C., passed away peacefully due to complications of Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point.
Mrs. Ellis was born on September 10, 1935 in Banner Elk, N.C., to the late William "Bill" Simerly and Alice (Graybeal) Simerly.
Mrs. Ellis graduated from Cloudland High School in 1953. She received her bachelor's degree in education from East Tennessee State University in 1957 and later earned her master's degree in education. She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Ellis, on December 26, 1956 in Roan Mountain, Tenn., and lived with him in High Point for over 40 years. She dedicated 40 years to teaching elementary school children before retiring in 1997.
Throughout her life she enjoyed teaching, traveling, collecting antiques, attending auctions and spending time at the family cabin in the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mark Ellis, who passed away on June 12, 2014.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and David Mikkelson of High Point, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Keith Huff of Kernersville, N.C.; four grandsons (who knew her affectionately as "Mimi"); one great-grandson; and one sister, Clarene Kerley of Elizabethton, Tenn.
The funeral service for Phyllis Simerly Ellis will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 12, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, Tenn., with Rev. John Vernon and Rev. David P. Mikkelson officiating. The receiving of family and friends will be from 1 until 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keith Huff, Benjamin Mikkelson, Jonathan Mikkelson, Daniel Mikkelson, Steve Kerley and Scott Davis. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Roger and Eliza White Estep.
Sue was a 1959 graduate of Unaka High School. She had worked at American Air Filter, Elizabethton, and the Mazer Corporation, Johnson City, before her retirement. She was a member of Unaka Baptist Church.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Bobby Joe Fletcher; one son, Eric; one sister, Charlotte and Richard Donnley; one brother, Larry and Judy Estep; several nieces and nephews; her special friends, Edna Yates, Jerry and Shirley Grindstaff, the Red Hat Ladies Sunday School Class, deacons and special friends of Unaka Baptist Church, Walker and Diane Roberson, close friends of Eric, and special friends and co-workers at Snap-on Tools of Elizabethton.
The funeral service for Phyllis Sue Fletcher will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. The Rev. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was retired after several years as a Maintenance Supervisor at Alcan Aluminum. Bert loved to hunt and was an avid reader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Three Sisters: Lois Provin, Christine Stout and Selma Marlow and five Brothers: Berl, Alvin, Ray, Riley and Lee Walsh.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Ruth Pilkton Walsh. Two Children: Kimberly Walsh, Punta Gorda, Florida and Gary (Michelle) Walsh, Port Charlotte, Florida. Two Grandchildren: Linnsee Taylor, and Aaron Rodino. Three Great Grandchildren: Evangeline Rodino, Juliana Rodino and Isaiah Taylor. 6989 PINEY FLATS - Carrie Belle Cole Mellons, 96, of Piney Flats, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at The Waters of Bristol.

She was born in Piney Flats in 1926 and resided there most of her life.

She was an excellent gardener and crocheter, making Christmas tree ornaments and prayer shawls. Carrie was a faithful member of Edgefield United Methodist Church and a member of the Ladies Bible Class and the Women’s Society. She was retired from North Side Elementary School where she was the cafeteria manager.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents Pansy (Goforth) and Elbert Cole as well as her husband, George H. Mellons; brothers, George Cole, Earl Cole; granddaughter, Lori Elliott; sons-in-law, Sam Elliott and David Wilkinson.

She is survived by daughters; Janet Elliott, Pansy Wilkinson and Dolores Chapman and her husband Rome Chapman; grandchildren, Christy PeterPaul, Brian Chapman and his wife Heather and Adam Chapman and his wife Emily ; great-granddaughters, Emily Hall, Ambria Turner and Krisalyn Elliott; great grandson, Joseph PeterPaul.

6990 PINEY FLATS - Cleo Chelsie Perkins Osborne, age 94, of 615 North Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 1st, 2015, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee after many years of being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She was born May 24th, 1921 near Butler, Tennessee, in Johnson County. She lived most of her life in Piney Flats, Tennessee. Mrs. Osborne was the daughter of the late Robert and Ester Wagner Perkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace James Osborne after almost 65 years of marriage and their 18 month old son, Paul James Osborne, one sister; Nell Forrester, four brothers; Elbert, Ernest, Odis and Leroy Perkins. Mrs. Osborne was an active member of Piney Flats Baptist Church until her illness. She loved working in Vacation Bible School for almost fifty years. Survivors include one daughter Betty Johnson and husband Marvin "Buck" of Piney Flats; one son Bobby Osborne and wife Shirley of Princeton West Virginia ; two grandsons Marvin Johnson Jr. of Piney Flats and Bobby Osborne II of Johnson City ; one brother, Robert Perkins Jr. of Elizabethton ; one sister, Nova Lee Hatch of Yucca Valley California, and several nieces and nephews. 6991 PINEY FLATS - Curtis E. Estep, age 94, of Piney Flats, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from his residence.

Curtis was born in Carter County to the late Charles Bruce Estep and Eliza A. Carden Estep. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister; his brother, Conley; his sisters, Velma Fortner and Iva Lee Grindstaff.

Curtis retired from Paty Lumber Company after serving 50 years and later he worked at Builders First Source. He was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran, having served in World War II. Curtis attended Piney Flats First Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Patricia "Patsy" Estep, of the home; his children, Portia Sams, of Gray, Michael Estep, of Monroe, NC, Vickie Emery, of Unicoi, Teresa Reed, of Knoxville, Debbie Jessen, of Lebanon, TN, Gayle McNutt, of Blountville, David Jones, of Carlton, Michigan, and Theresa Marcus, of Piney Flats; and 40 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Curtis E. Estep will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Piney Flats First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Allen Davis and Pastor Greg Lovelace, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Tuesday.

Graveside services will be private at Old Horseshoe Cemetery Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

6992 PINEY FLATS - Dennis Edward Ledford, Jr., age 51, of Piney Flats, went home to meet his heavenly father on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Dennis was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to Dennis Edward Ledford, Sr. and Jana Ruth Sadler Simpson. He was preceded in death by his step-father, James Simpson; and his father-in-law, Jimmie Dale Mann.

Dennis was a knight in shining armor, a devoted husband and a loving father, who had a big heart. He graduated from Daniel Boone High School in 1985, he earned a Bachelor degree in Business and Applied Science and was a recent graduate of King University, where he earned his Master's degree in Business Administration. Dennis was employed at Bell Helicopter as a lead overhaul mechanic and was also a teacher at Northeast State Community College, where he taught General Mechanics, he previously worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at J & B Fast Freight and was owner and operator of Ledford and Sons Collision. Dennis was a member of Celebration Church of Blountville, where he served as a greeter, Life Group leader and member of Oil Change Ministries. Dennis also loved working on classic cars and doing home projects.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty eight years, Carolyn Janette Mann Ledford, of the home; three children, Neil Ledford and wife Carrie, of Jonesborough, Allison Ledford, of Johnson City, and Jared Ledford, of the home; his father, Dennis Ledford, Sr. and wife Donna, of Boones Creek; his mother, Jana Simpson, of Gray; one sister, Jennifer France and husband Dean, of Jonesborough; a half-brother, Dale Ledford and wife Shannon, of Johnson City; his mother-in-law, Janette Mann, of Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Treadway, of Elizabethton and Lisa Germaine and husband Dan, of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Dennis Edward Ledford, Jr. will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Robert Russell, officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Chuck Odum, soloist and Elisa Comer, pianist. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Josh Banks, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Dan Potter, Eric Henley, Todd Tipton, Jerry Meiers, Tim Sharrett, Keith Glover, Dan Germaine and Dean France. Honorary pallbearers will be Bell Overhaul Shop, Life Group members, neighbors, and Douglas Boyd. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Saturday, to go in procession.

6993 PINEY FLATS - Edith Chambers Tolley, 94, Piney Flats, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jake & Mary Birchfield Chambers. She had lived a number of years in Piney Flats. She was a homemaker. She was of the Free Will Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Orville Earl Tolley, a son: Roy Glenn Tolley, Sr., a daughter: Peggy Willis and several brothers & sisters.

Survivors include a daughter: Margaret Royston, Piney Flats. A son: James Dean Tolley, Piney Flats. 11 Grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Shelby Blevins, 17 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Her special friends: Bill & Lenis Baker and Kenny & Kathy Lethcoe. Several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Bradley and Rev. Steve Hilman officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in the Edgefield United Methodist Church Cemetery. Music will be provided by Kenny & Kathy Lethcoe. 6994 PINEY FLATS - Fannie D. Curtis, age 91, of Piney Flats, was received into the loving arms of Jesus Friday, January 10, 2020.

Fannie was born in Sullivan County to the late William Oliver and Lillie Bowers Oliver. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Curtis; a son, James Edward Holt, Jr.; four brothers and one sister.

Fannie was a godly woman who showed love for everyone around her. She loved Tennessee football, having her family together, visiting with her church and fellowship meals. She also loved watching westerns, Elvis and caring for all animals. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always took care of the home. She was a member of Piney Flats United Methodist Church. Even as she got older she still served in her church. She would make sure that the shut ins received their bulletins, birthday cards and other church information. She always maintained her servant heart.

Those left to cherish her memory include three loving daughters, Elsie Carrier (Chuck), Daisy Ford (Chris) and Linda Taylor (Robert); four grandchildren, Sammy Holt, Frankie Holt (Lori), Angie Carrier (Reggie Tiller) and Chip Carrier (Nichole); four great grandchildren, Ethan Wine, Chaz Carrier, Harlan Carrier and Spencer Holt. Numerous other family members also survive.

The Family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bluff City Medical Staff, Piney Flats Drug, Christian Care Center of Bristol and a special nurse at the Bristol Regional Medical Center E.R.

A service to honor the life of Fannie will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home Bluff City. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM prior to the service. Officiating the services will be Rev. Jack Stevens and Rev. Estel Williams.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the New Bethel Cemetery in Piney Flats. Family and Friends are asked to gather at the Funeral Home at 10:00 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. 6995 PINEY FLATS - Hazel Amanda Dugger Pierce 89 of Piney Flats passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Sycamore Springs Senior Living Community in Elizabethton. She was a native of Johnson County and was the daughter of the late Hiram Hunter Dugger and Barbara Elizabeth Keller Dugger. Mrs. Pierce attended Edgefield United Methodist Church in Piney Flats. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mrs. Pierce enjoyed doing volunteer work and was very active in Ruritan National Inc, Eastern Star and other civic organizations.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Ray Pierce; three sisters, Geneva Belle Pilkin, Mary Kate Fritts and Rose Hodge; two brothers, Truman Dugger and James Edward Dugger.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Pat Taylor and Debi Hopkins who lived with Hazel and Ed for a time and Joe Tolliver who was a great help to Hazel in her later years.

Graveside services for Mrs. Pierce will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, September 27, 2021 in the Monte Vista Memorial Gardens with Minister Estel Williams officiating. Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.

6996 PINEY FLATS - Judy Erwin Barnes, 75, Piney Flats, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Howard Valentine & Myrtle Beatrice Buck Hinkle. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. Judy worked at UNIVAC, Bristol and also at Martin-Marietta in Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father Richard Erwin, Two brothers: William & Kenneth Hinkle and a grandson: Keith Goodman and a sister: Janie Lindamood. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her children: Julie Robinson & husband Marshall Robinson, Piney Flats and James Barnes & wife Connie Barnes, Bristol, Virginia. Five Grandchildren: Dylan, Justin, Brandy, Ben & Kaylee. Five Great Grandchildren. Her sisters: Janet Leonard Foster & husband William Foster and Jill Erwin, her brother-in-law: Ed Lindamood. Several well-loved nieces, nephews & cousins.

6997 PINEY FLATS - Loretta Curd Smith, 87, of Piney Flats, TN passed away on November 19, 2019.

Born in Watauga, TN, she was the daughter of the late Spencer Rodney Curd and the late Cora Lee Fair Curd. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Patsy Curd, three brothers, Charles, Tony Wren and Clinton Dewayne Curd and one sister-in-law Sandra Curd.

She was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church. Loretta was a Tupperware manager for 32 years. She LOVED TO TALK and to meet new people. She loved to cook and loved making bread and cakes for other people. She had many friends and she believed in telling she loved them while they were living.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Herman S. Smith; three sons, Chip Smith of Piney Flats, TN, Jeffrey Smith of Spring Hill, TN and Tony Smith of Jessup, MD; five grandchildren, Timmy, Emily, Grace Smith, Joshua and Anastasia Smith; two great grandchildren Rachael and Madison Smith, one sister-in-law, Kim Curd and several nieces and nephews. She also loved the children she babysat. They called her "Mimi" and she called them her adopted grandchildren; Gavin Grizzle, Rachel Hamilton, Kimberlyn and Jonathan King, Josh and Jonathan Gregory.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Poplar Ridge Cemetery.

6998 PINEY FLATS - Marvin Ray "Buck" Johnson, Sr., 74, of 571 North Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Mr. Johnson was born on November 9, 1942, in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Cursey and Lillie Chambers Johnson.

He was an active member of the Piney Flats First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Before his illness he was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir, worked with the youth, was on the youth committee, helped with the children's choir and drove the van for the senior citizens.

He graduated from Hampton High School in 1960 and received his B. S. Degree in Mathematics and Education from Milligan College in 1964. He received his Master's Degree and forty-five hours plus from East Tennessee State University. In June of 1993 he retired from the Sullivan County School System with thirty years of service of which twenty years were served as Assistant Principal at Sullivan Central High School. Until his illness he was Recycling Coordinator for Sullivan County and served on many state committees.

Mr. Johnson was a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #4 of Piney Flats. He was also a past President of the Piney Flats Ruritan Club.

He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially fishing. He also liked watching baseball and boxing.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of over fifty-three years, whom he married on June 27, 1964; Betty Osborne Johnson; one son, Marvin Ray Johnson, Jr.; one sister, Janice Sue Rash and husband, Carl "Buddy" Rash, of Bristol, TN and two nephews, Chris Rash and Greg Rash of Bristol, TN.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Johnson will be conducted on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 8:00 PM at the Piney Flats First Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the church prior to the service on Monday and any time at the residence.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in the Edgefield Cemetery in Piney Flats, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Johnson, Chris Rash, Greg Rash, Bobby Osborne I, Bobby Osborne II, Eddie Sams, Dean Torbett, Dr. Harold Alison, J.C. Swonger and Bill Burry. 6999 PINEY FLATS - Nila Ruth Fletcher Tinker, 89, Piney Flats, died Monday, November 18, 2019, at her residence, following an extended illness.

Ruth was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene S. Tinker, in 2006, and a sister, Phyllis White.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Fletcher; brother, William C. Fletcher and wife Jane, Johnson City; sister, Shelby Medearis, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Peggy Grubb, the Avalon Hospice team, especially Kelsey and Lisa, for the excellent care.

7000 PINEY FLATS - Patricia Ann Warren, age 72, of Piney Flats, TN, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Leon Clyde and Emma Lee Campbell Pruitt.

Patricia worked as a manager at K-Mart and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved to travel and loved to watch her granddaughter run track at Carson Newman University.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Don Warren; one son, Jim Warren and wife Holly, of Piney Flats, TN; one granddaughter, Jennifer Warren, of Piney Flats, TN; one brother, Jerry Pruitt and wife Nancy, of Elizabethton, TN; one sister, Nadine Forbes and husband Randy, of Elizabethton, TN; one brother-in-law, Jerry Warren and wife Retha, of Athens, WV; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Hamilton, of Tallahassee, FL; one niece, Amanda Taylor and husband Patrick, of Elizabethton, TN; and one nephew, Wes Buckner and wife Megan, of Elizabethton, TN.
