6451 Mrs. Mabel Ellis Birchfield, 77, 403 South Roan Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, Mrs. Birchfield was a daughter of the late Dave Powell and Minnie Bullock Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Howard Birchfield, Nov. 9, 1986, by a daughter, Sandra Kay Birchfield, and by a sister, Florence Ellis.
Mrs. Birchfield was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. and most recently had been employed as a hostess at Pizza Inn of Elizabethton. She was a member of the Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bill Kuhn and Peggy and Dr. Jack Holly, all of Elizabethton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Powell and Gloria Ellis, Randall and Jennifer Birchfield and Kim and Tammy Birchfield, all of Elizabethton; four sisters, Juanita White, Atchison, Kan. Selda Wilson and Ida Andes, both of Elizabethton, and Gladys Nance, Bluff City; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Bare, Melissa Hodge, David Ellis, Jason Holly, Arden Kuhn, Travis Holly, Ashley Birchfield, Allie Gillenwater, Jordan Birchfield and Lucas Birchfield; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

BIRCHFIELD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Ellis Birchfield, 77, 403 South Roan Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, July 26, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Mark Street and Talmadge Brown officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, with Mr. Jesse Birchfield, Jr. assisting. The Revs. Mark Street and Clarence Sheffield will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, will be Jason Holly, Arden Kuhn, David Bare, Michael Hodge, Jim Jenkins, Herbert Duvall, Al Welsh, Mike Hubbard, Chris Gillenwater and Ron Stanley. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family, friends and neighbors, employees of Pizza Inn, Elizabethton, the staff of Dr. Jack Holly, DDS, the staff of Randall Birchfield Real Estate & Auction, employees of the water treatment plant, City of Elizabethton, members of the Johnson City Police Department, the staff of the Women's Pavilion, Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Dr. John Green and Dr. Scott Caudle.

6452 Mrs. Mae Keller, 94, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Bessie Treadway Bowling and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Keller in 1986, a daughter, Ann Price; four brothers, Paul Bowling, Crawford Bowling, Clifford Bowling, Jack Bowling; two sisters, Claudia Oliver and Hildred Hensley.

Mrs. Keller was the former owner/operator of Keller's Grocery. She was also a former employee of Susie's Shoes. She loved her friends and family and she loved to garden and cook. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Shook and her husband, Paul, Elizabethton; Carol Nave and her husband, Gary; Elizabethton; two sons, Jim Keller and his wife, Debbie, Elizabethton; Jack Keller and his wife, Barbara, Bluff City; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; a special son-in-law, Manuel Price. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Keller will be conducted on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Sam Haynes officiating. Music will be under the direction of Gail Campbell, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Brooks Price, Brett Price, Michael Price, Dexter Price, Dakota Price, and Herman Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Tester, Mike Tester, Jimmy Tester, L. C. Tester and very special friends, Pauline Tester, Sherry Sheets, Brenda Reece, and Connie Tester. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

6453 Mrs. Margaret E. Salyer, 82, late of Kingsport, died at the home of her son, Frank Salyer, in the Cedar Grove community. Milligan road, Johnson City, Tenn., at 4:40 a. m. today following a decline in health and serious illness for the past several weeks.

She was a native of the Nickelsville community of Scott county, Va., and made her home there before moving to Kingsport about 18 years ago. For many year, she was a community leader in church and civic affairs, and was a member of the Baptist church. Her father was the late Daniel K. Shipley, and her mother before marriage was Lindy Cox. Both were members of pioneer families in this section.

Among those surviving are two sons, S.F. Salyer, Johnson City, Tenn., and Daniel K. Salyer, Nickelsville. Va.; one daughter, Mrs. R.D. Hyder, Elizabethton, Tenn,; one sister, Mrs. Liddie Robinson, Indian Springs, Tenn., and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Flanders Salyer, died in 1931. Funeral services will be held from the home of S. Frank Salyer, Milligan road, Johnson City, Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H.C. Bolton of Kingsport in charge. Burial will follow in Oak Hill, Norton, Va.

6454 Mrs. Margaret Gaines Bishop, daughter of the late John Merrell and Nellie Seaton Gaines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Bishop, in 1979; three brothers, John Gaines, Bill Gaines, and Ralph Gaines; a granddaughter, Dorinda Bishop Carroll; a great-granddaughter, Shana Carroll; and a great-grandson, Jacob Bishop. 6455 Mrs. Margaret Stephens Manning, age 91, of Elizabethton, TN, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late William Warren (W.W.) and Celia Belle Teague Stephens. Mrs. Manning had built airplanes for the U.S. Navy and also worked at Yates Remnant Shop for twenty years. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Mrs. Manning was a member of First Christian Church, Elizabethton, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class at First Christian Church. She worked in the Church nursery for several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Cartha Chesser, Oscar Stephens, Ida Pate, William Stephens, Clara Kyte, Laura Kyte, Harold Stephens, Hazel Vanhuss, John Stephens, and an infant sister, Mary Ruth Stephens. Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Paul T. Manning, of the home; a daughter, Paula Manning, Elizabethton; a grandson, Marc Gibson and wife, Rachel, Charlotte, NC; a great-grandson, Ethan Gibson, Charlotte, NC; and special friends, Teresa Norris, Lanny Norris, Whitney Norris, Sara, Laban and Rilyn Propst and Randy and Patsy Tadlock. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Margaret Stephens Manning will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 21, 2013, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Dr. Don Marshall, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Gene Estep. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service or at the residence at other times. 6456 Mrs. Margaret Stout Reynolds, 82, of Mint Hill, NC and formerly of Elizabethton, TN, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Cumberland, KY, to the late Madison and Cynthia Oaks Stout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Reynolds; 2 infant brothers; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Reynolds was a lifetime member of the PTA, Carter County Home Demonstration Club, and very involved at East River Park Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Minott and husband Bob Mint Hill, NC; son, Terry Reynolds and wife Becky of Ft. Mill, SC; grandchildren, Benjamin Reynolds and wife Elizabeth, Scott Reynolds and wife Gina, Hollye Sammons and husband Brian, Ashleigh Cupp and husband Brandon, Michelle Gregory, Joseph Minott and wife Katie, and Jeffrey Minott and wife Lauren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Mary Whittenbarger of Lynch, KY, and Shirley Johnson of Johnson City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Reynolds will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 9:00 AM Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Reynolds Cemetery. 6457 Mrs. Marjorie May Stephens Brown, age 78, Jonesborough, beloved Wife, Mother, and Nanny, was taken to be with her Lord after a lengthy illness on Monday, September 14, 2015, at her residence.

Mrs. Brown was born in Washington County and daughter of the late Ambrose Frank and Margaret Keys May. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John F. May and Robert Joseph "Joe" May; sisters, M. Carolyn "Cardi" Clark and Margaret Wynn.

Mrs. Brown retired as an International Communication Supervisor from Wabco Inc. in Peoria, Ill. After retirement she moved to Morristown, Tennessee, and went to work for Cemco Inc.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Morristown, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Brown, of the home; children, Donna Stephens, Church Hill, Judy Stephens-Runion, Jonesborough, Michael Stephens Ill; brothers, William May and Jack May; grandchildren, Matthew Slaughter, Church Hill, Daniel Stephens, Jonesborough, Jeremy Stephens Ill, and Patrick Stephens Ill; great-grandchildren, Levi Stephens, Scarlett Slaughter and Alexander Slaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Anglin officiating.

The family will receive family and friends Wednesday September 22, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Graveside for Mrs. Brown will be Thursday following the Funeral service at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Slaughter, Michael Stephens, Daniel Stephens, Tim Runion, John Mottern and Terry Winters.

6458 Mrs. Marjorie Ruth Cretsinger Norman died peacefully at home Wednesday afternoon at age 89.

Mrs. Norman dedicated her life to homemaking following a brief career at the Johnson City Power Board in the early 1950s. She was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of East Unaka Church of Christ and Austin Springs Methodist Church. The red-headed and blue-eyed hometown girl was a 1949 graduate of Science Hill High School and a member of the Burley Bowl court.

She is survived by three children: Charles Jr., John, and Taleen all of Johnson City; three grandchildren: Charles III of Johnson City, Joshua Norman of Kingsport, and Monica Norman of Ashville, NC; eight great-grandchildren: Bronson, Maddie, Max, Mason, Titus, Evie, Tiberius, and Jaxon as well as foster and step great-grandchildren Thomas Humphrey and Jake Bailey. One brother, Gary Cretsinger of Johnson City and one sister, Melba Moore of Gary and several cousins are also survivors.

Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Charles Brown Norman; her parents Horace and Daisy Dimple Walker Cretsinger; her brothers Bufford (Spunk) Cretsinger, Donald Cretsinger, and Wayne Cretsinger and her sisters Adrienne Hampton and Linda Cretsinger.

A graveside service to celebrate Marjorie Ruth Cretsinger Norman’s life was conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2021 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with Mr. David Clark, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers were her grandsons and nephews.

6459 Mrs. Martha A. Colbaugh Heatherly, 85, 3136 West Cactus Road, Phoenix, Ariz., died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Glendale Care Center, Glendale, Ariz.
Mrs. Heatherly was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Willie C. and Nancy Peters Colbaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Heatherly, December 22, 1992, three sisters, Eula Faye Colbaugh, Emma May Dean Colbaugh and Magdalene Garland, and two brothers, Dewey E. Colbaugh and Clyde Colbaugh.
Mrs. Heatherly had lived in Arizona since 1945. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Lloyd Heatherly, Pasadena, Calif., and Luther S. Heatherly, Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Gloria Jean Edmondson, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces, Sandra Street and Sue Alderson, both of Elizabethton; two nephews, Dewey Colbaugh, Atlanta, Ga., and Roger Colbaugh, San Diego, Calif.; and four sisters-in-law, Verna Peters, Laura Holder and Eva Louise Heatherly, all of Elizabethton, and Eva Heatherly, Roan Mountain.

6460 Mrs. Martha Louise Day McQueen, age 90, passed away, Monday, June 18, 2012, at NHC Health Care Center of Johnson City after an extended illness.

Mrs. McQueen was born in Johnson County and lived in Butler before moving to Limestone in 1947. She was a daughter of the late William David & Mae Dugger Day. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McQueen was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Kyle McQueen; three brothers, Tead Day, John Day and Ray Day; and one sister, Beulah Deloach.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. McQueen graduated from Johnson County High School, where she was a member of the Girls Basketball Team.

Mrs. McQueen was a homemaker, farmer and co-owner of Queendale Farm. She enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and raising chickens.

Survivors include her children, David Cyrus "D.C." McQueen and wife, Joan, and Patsy McQueen Greene, all of Limestone; grandchildren, Debbie Abbott and Lance, of Johnson City, Becky Zinnianti and Chet, Jonesborough, and Daniel Greene, Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Beth Zinnianti, Lisa Greene, Adrianne and Brandon Abbott; sister, Kate Wilson, Mountain City; brother, Clyde Day, Marion, NC; special niece, Jean Bates, Knoxville; niece and special caregiver, Georgia Freeman; and several nephews and nieces.

The family would like to send special thanks to NHC Health Care of Johnson City and Caris Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Ponder and Rev. Charles Morgan officiating.

6461 Mrs. Mary Alice Nave, 82, H Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005,
at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Nave was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Sutton
and Lillie Garrison Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, C.A. Nave, a brother, Fred Williams, and two sisters,
Hazel Jones and Annie McInturff.

Mrs. Nave was a mother and homemaker. She had volunteered for 20 years as a
Pink Lady at Carter County Memorial Hospital and Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Faye Ella and Roy Freeman,
Oak Ridge, and Clara Mae Stanley, Elizabethton; a grandson, Justin Stanley,
Elizabethton; a step-granddaughter, Dianna Lynn Doughton, and a step-great-
granddaughter, Ashleigh Pratt, both of Portland, Ore. Several nieces and
nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nave will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28,
in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. C. Mack Turner
officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 9 a.m.
Friday, July 29, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the
cemetery at 8:55 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral
home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday or at the residence, 313 West H Street,
Elizabethton, at anytime. Special thanks to the staffs of Adventa Hospice,

6462 Mrs. Mary Ann Perry Smith, 77, of Rominger Road, Banner Elk, NC died Thursday afternoon, August 9, 2018 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk, NC.

Mrs. Smith, born in Avery County, NC; was the daughter of the late Thomas Hampton Perry and Belle Stewart Perry, and the widow of Lowell V. Smith. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lee Perry and Thomas H. Perry.

She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of Matney-Liberty Church. She cared for and helped the neighbors in her community with their medical needs.

She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Grace Smith of Banner Elk; a son, Gregory Smith of Banner Elk; a brother, Joe H. Perry and wife, Evanell of Banner Elk; a sister-in-law, Odleen Perry of Banner Elk and several nieces and nephews.

6463 Mrs. Mary Bunton Peters, 80, 169 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Peters was a native of Avery County, N.C., and a daughter of the late Lewis J. and Emmer Jones Bunton. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer Warren and Clate Peters, and six brothers, Clyde, Andy, Carl, Paul, Dallas and Luther Bunton. Mrs. Peters had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church but attended New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Doris Bunton, Mountain City, Mrs. Rose Bunton and Mrs. Maude Bunton, both of Elk Park, N.C. 6464 Mrs. Mary Christine Harrison Critcher, age 90, of Boone, wife of the late Willie Mack "Will" Critcher, died Monday morning, June 6, 2005, at the Watauga Medical Center.

She was born April 15, 1915, in the Bamboo community of Watauga County to the late Newton Leonard and Mary Eliza Harrison Harrison.

Mrs. Critcher was a homemaker and a longtime member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, and two daughters, one stepson, and one stepdaughter.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a number of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Leonard Harrison and Roland Harrison; two sisters, Clara Pauline Harrison and Ruth Harrison; and a stepdaughter, Lavon Critcher Caudill.

Burial followed in Mount Vernon Church Cemetery.

6465 Mrs. Mary Docia Davis, 98 of Rt #2 Hampton died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Peters, at 5 PM Friday. Mrs. Davis was a native of Carter County, and was the daughter of Alexander and Mary Bowers Lacey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Davis January 1940 and by a son Horace Davis, November 1930. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Peters, Rt #2 Hampton, and Mrs. Gladys Hodges, Lakewood, California; two sons, Ira P. Davis, South Gate, Calif., and Carl S. Davis, Davidsonville, Maryland; three brothers A.S. Lacey and Ellis Lacey, both of Johnson City, and Dave Lacey, Rt 1, Hampton; two sisters Mrs. Sanna Woodby, Rt. 9. Jonesboro, and Mrs. Esther Byers, Rt. 1, Hampton; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

6466 Mrs. Mary Elliott Daniels, 82, 509 Blevins Avenue, Elizabethton, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following a brief illness.
Mrs. Daniels was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Peter H. and Bessie Shoun Elliott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam G. Daniels, a son, Gary Daniels, a brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Daniels was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Becky Daniels, Johnson City; a brother, Haynes Elliott, Elizabethton; and a grandson, Jonathan David Daniels, U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif. Three nieces also survive.
Graveside services and interment were held Sunday, July 4, at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Dave Shorter officiating.
Memorial Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

6467 Mrs. Mary Jane Blevins, 84, Rt 6, died at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. A D Burleson, 1203 Barton St., at about 7 a.m. today. A native of Butler, she had lived most of her life in the Cedar Grove community in Carter County. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Clemons Goodwin and the widow of J W Blevins. She was a charter member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she was until her death. the oldest member.

Surviving In addition to Mrs. Burleson is another daughter, Mrs. Clarence Snodgrass Rt 8; two sons, Coy Blevins Tampa Fla. and Ray Blevins Rt. 6. 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children Appalachian Funeral Home is in charge.

6468 Mrs. Mary Ruth Cress Stout, 90, of Chapin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at her residence with family by her side after months of steadily declining health.
Mary was born in Mountain City, TN and later in life moved to Irmo, SC and then to Chapin, SC. She was the daughter of the late Claude J. Cress and Grace Hazel Johnson Cress of Mountain City, TN.
She retired from Allied Chemical in the early 80’s, and loved to play the piano and sing. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her devoted husband, Bert, along with her family at their beach retreat on St Helena’s Island in Beaufort, SC. The whole family spent many happy days and years catching bait and fishing off the Fripp Island bridge and surrounding areas. Such wonderful memories.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, David Bert Stout, Sr., her parents, two brothers, Charles Cress, and J. R. Cress of Mountain City, TN; and two sisters, Helen Hartt of Cleveland, OH and Margarite Cassidy of Irmo, SC.
Mary is survived by two sons, Dr. David B. Stout, Jr, (Duffy), of Chapin, SC and James R, “Jim” Stout (Virginia) of Blythewood, SC, and a daughter Elaine S. Belch, (William) of Chapin, SC. Mary had five grandchildren, Erin Afanador, (Javier) of Florence SC, Joanna Robbs (John) of Charleston, SC, Erik Stout, (Bridgett) of Blythewood, SC, Patrick Belch, (Nikki) of Seneca, SC, Justin Stout (Shayla) of Asheville, NC and Andy Stout (Barbara) of Newberry, SC.; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was immensely proud of all her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lutheran Hospice, Rachael, Teresa, Karen, Christy and Lisa, for their compassion and care shown to Mrs. Mary and our family the past few months.

6469 Mrs. Maude Ethel Broyles, 84, Rt. 3, Butler, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1991 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.

Mrs. Broyles was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Crumley and Cora Presnell Pierce.

She was a member of the Pierce Town Baptist Church.

Mrs. Broyles was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Victor Broyles, a son, Earl Broyles, and two sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Garland, Mrs. Park (Sue) Arnold and Corine; and one son, Ralph Broyles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday from Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Howard Estep officiating. The Little Doe Baptist Church Choir will be in charge of music.

Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday in Butler Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Appalachian Home Health Care Center and Dr. Donald Walters. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Matilda Fields Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pink Winters; a son, Harold Winters, and a daughter, Rosa Winters Thomas.
Survivors include three sons, David Winters, Elmer Winters and Tom Winters, all of Roan Mountain; two daughters, Frankie Crawford, of Elk Park, N.C., and Ruby Smith, of Strongville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.

6471 Mrs. Maxine McKinney Matherly, 76, 119 Beryl Fletcher Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, June 19, 2000, at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Larry Williams, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Matherly was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late William M. and Stella Shell McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Matherly, February 10, 1997, and by two brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Matherly operated the Tastee-Freez and Maxine's Sycamore Drive-In for a number of years until her retirement. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include one other daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Maynard Campbell, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Sally Matherly, Elizabethton; five sisters, Lilly Lyons, Hampton, Missouri Brown, Creola Stanley, Agnes Walker and Willie Jean Baughman, all of Elizabethton; and six grandchildren, April Matherly, Raymond Williams and his wife, Rebecca, Brian Williams, Carter Campbell, Tina Reece and her husband, Tim, and Josh Campbell. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Ellen Arnett Lyons. Mrs. McKeehan was a homemaker and she was a member of Lynn Avenue Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Taylor McKeehan; a son, Roy McKeehan; a grandson, Howard Lee McKeehan Jr.; three sons-in-law, Nick Bartalone, William R. Kite and Thomas Herman; five brothers, Harrison Lyons, Alvin Lyons, Jack Lyons, Joe Lyons and Anderson Lyons and a sister, Geneva Hubbard. Survivors include three sons, Norman "Buddy" McKeehan and Howard McKeehan, both of Spruce Pine, NC and Ralph E. Mrs. Moreland was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton and a former member of Moore's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Carden was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the

in death by her first husband, Roby D. Bowers, November 19, 1986, and
by four brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Carden was a former Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Church
of God.

6477 Mrs. Myrtle L. Tester, 87, of Erwin, TN died Monday, May 17, 1993 at Erwin Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a daughter of the late Richard and Lina Hammitt Ford.

Mrs. Tester was a homemaker and a member of Skyline Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cliner A. Tester, in 1970 and three sons.

6478 Mrs. Myrtle Virginia Muse Mitchell, 92, went to be with her Lord with her family by her side.

She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church.

She retired as the Director of Nursing and Assistant Administrator of Hillcrest South Nursing Home in 1998.

Since her retirement she was extremely active with her family and friends. She loved traveling and was a hospital volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Barry Mitchell, parents William Thomas Walker Muse and Mary Alverda Greear Muse, her brothers, James Greear Muse, William Joseph Muse and John Henry Muse, sisters, Mary Sue Muse Mount and Marjorie Ellen Muse Brockman.

Mrs. N. J. Peeks of Elizabethton died Saturday night, April 5th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Brown, 114 East Watauga avenue. Mrs. Peeks was one of the oldest citizens of Carter county. She was born March 8th, 1843, being 87 years old. She leaves the following to mourn their loss, one daughter, Mrs. Ben Brown of Johnson City, one son, David Peeks, of Elizabethton, twenty-five grandchildren, two brothers, Bud Scalf, of South Watauga, Bill Scalf of Elizabethton, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Scalf of Elizabethton. Funeral services were conducted from the home of Mrs. J. E. Peeks this afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. J. J. Musick and E. A. Cox officiating. The music was in charge of Luther Hampton

6480 Mrs. Nancy Benfield, 87, died Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ed Sneed of Marion, after a long illness.

She was a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Elias Stamey and was the oldest living member of Big Meadows Baptist Church. She was married to Jim Benfield in 1892. He died in 1919.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Sneed are another daughter, Mrs. Ulysses S. Goforth of Newland, a son Waits Benfield of Newland, a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Wheelon of Marion, and a half-brother, Clayton Stamey of Jonas Ridge, 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

6482 Mrs. Nell H. Bradley, age 95, of Gray, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the Life Care Center of Gray.
Mrs. Bradley was a native of Johnson County. She was the daughter of the late Wheeler C. Howard and Loretta Howard. In addition to her parent's two husbands, Charles H. Conley, Sr. and Albert Bradley also preceded her in death. She worked for Leon Ferenback of Johnson City and was a nursing assistant in Sacramento, California for eleven years. Mrs. Bradley was a sixty-six year member of Central Baptist Church. She was a member of the Margaret McNeese Sunday school class. She was a member of the Nolachucky, Grand View Chapter 194 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include: one son, Charles Harvey Conley, Jr. and his wife Janette; two grandsons; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Rose Cooper. A graveside service for Mrs. Nell H. Bradley will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Dr. Janice Shelton will officiate. 6483 Mrs. Nell V. Calhoun Cuthbertson (Mamma Nell), age 84, peacefully went to her heavenly home February 14, 2019.

She was born the eighth child on June 7, 1934 to Starlin Isaac Calhoun and Jodie Jane Benfield Calhoun in Mitchell County, N.C.

She was married to Floyd (Skeeze) Cuthbertson in July 1954.

Preceding her in death were her Parents: Starlin and Jodie; her husband: Floyd (Skeeze) Cuthbertson; Brother: Coye A Calhoun (Elsie) and six Sisters: Commeylee Sluder (Claude), Amey Sparks (Carl), Agnes Cooper (Dallas), Iris Cooper (Norman), Lucille Sparks (Newton) and Clara Wise (Alvin).

Although Nell had many siblings, she was the last child born and had many nephews and nieces her own age that she grew up with and stayed close.

Nell has two daughters: Debbie and Kelly, and two Sons-in-law: Bobby Blalock and Gene Annas (deceased). Also surviving are three Granddaughters: Shea Blalock Anderson (Eddie), Jodie Blalock Walker (Seth), McKinnley Elizabeth Annas (Abbey); and one Great-Granddaughter: Lucy M. Walker.

Nell was a beautiful gentle soul who loved everyone. She worked at various jobs during her life, the longest being a server at The Broyhill Center at App State where she retired. She faced several illnesses head on and endured them with grace and willpower. Nell was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossnore. She loved to sing and listen to old time gospel hymns.

Services for Nell V. Cuthbertson will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Crossnore First Baptist Church, with Lander Hefner officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Cuthbertson Cemetery

She was the daughter of the late William and Laura Shaw Ward. Dugger was a homemaker and a member of Zion Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen "Jett" Dugger in 1962; one son, Clarence Dugger; one daughter, Virginia Wilson; one sister, Clide Ward; one brother, Honard Ward; three grandsons, Ralph and Jimmy Whitehead and Louie Pate; and one great-great granddaughter, Sierra Dawn Waycaster.

6485 Mrs. Nellie J. Lewis, age 93, of Peters Hollow Road in Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Nellie was born May 5, 1928 in Elizabethton to the late Charles and Mary Blanche Ritchie White. In addition to her parents, Nellie was also preceded in death by her husband, Campbell H. (Herman) Lewis; and four brothers, Arlie White, Stewart White, Hubert White and Jerry White.
Nellie was a homemaker and loved taking care of her home and her family. She was a graduate of Unaka High School and was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Nellie will be missed by all that knew her.
Those left to cherish Nellie’s memory include her three daughters, Linda Lewis, Sherry (Buford) Peters and Judy (Don) Williams all of Elizabethton; her brother, Gary White of Elizabethton; her sister-in-law, Ms. Hubert White of Maryville, TN; two grandchildren, Melanie (Chris) Schuettler and Katie Williams all of Elizabethton; two great grandchildren, Corie Schuettler and Colton (Lakeisha) Schuettler both of Elizabethton; her extended family and special friends, Gene and Mary Evelyn Buck; and her special church friend, Ms Beulah Peters. 6486 Mrs. Nellie R. Broyles, 74, Rt. 3, Elizabethton, died at her residence at 12:30 p.m. Monday of an apparent heart attack.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Edna Holloway McGhee and was a member of the Fish Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Comer Broyles; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Norma) Sheffield of Elizabethton, and Mrs. Larry (Edith) Scalf of Watauga; eight sons, Fred, Robert, Floyd, Dewey, Raymond, Haskel, Conley and Preston Broyles, all of Elizabethton; and Beryl Broyles, Abingdon, Va.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Crabtree of Hampton, and Mrs. Robert (Rose) Oliver of Elizabethton. Sixteen grandchildren, Terry, David, Tim, Diane, Regina, Teresa, Sheila, Haskel Wayne, Kelly and Kristi Broyles, Sara Sheffield, Donna Merritt, Allen, Keith, Chris and Cindy Scalf, also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Earl Campbell and Rev. Hubert Greene officiating. Interment will be in the Crumley Cemetery, Rt. 3, Bluff City.

Mrs. Gertrude Hammond, soloist, will be in charge of the music. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E. T. Pearson, Bob Reynolds, Jerome Daugherty and the Men's Class of Harmony Baptist Church.

6487 Mrs. Nina Gail Campbell Stout, 79, of Catawba NC passed away Thursday January 21, 2021 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

She was born October 9, 1941 in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Baxter Campbell and Pauline White Campbell.

She was a member of Startown Baptist Church and retired from E.R. Carpenter after 22 years of service as a supervisor.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dearl “Gene” Stout and her brother, Walter Campbell.

She leaves to cherish her memory

6488 Mrs. Nina Ruth Edwards of Johnson City went home to be with her Lord following an extended and courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at her residence.

A native of Johnson County, TN she was the daughter of the late James Stout Jr. and Viola Myra Greene Stout.

Mrs. Edwards had worked at Empire Furniture, Artcraft Glove Company, Harris Flooring, as a caregiver at Appalachian Christian Village and at the U.S. Forestry Service. She had attended Higgins Chapel Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at Green Pine Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards loved flowers and to garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Stout as well as two infant brothers and a sister, Rosa.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Cecil B., of the home; two daughters; five granddaughters and their husbands.

Pallbearers will be employees of the U.S. Forestry Service.

6489 Mrs. Nora Elizabeth Ellis Waggoner Plant, age 83, of New Johnsonville, TN, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Plant was born September 10, 1930, in Lenoir City, TN, to James Henry and Viva Lou Olive Ridge Ellis. She was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in New Johnsonville, TN and the Pisgah United Methodist Women. She was retired and had worked as a Sales Clerk at The Quality Store in Waverly, TN, and a Cafeteria Worker for Lakeview School in New Johnsonville, TN.
Interment in the J. Warren Cemetery in New Johnsonville, TN.

6490 Mrs. Ola Mae Greene, 82, of 1684 Draft Road, Butler, Tenn., passed away July 7, 2010 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone following a brief illness.

Born June 12, 1928, Mrs. Greene was a lifelong resident of Butler, Tenn., and the daughter of the late Don and Flossie S. Anderson.

She was a faithful member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for many years. Mrs. Greene was a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Darrell J. Greene; and brother, Hollis Anderson.

Survivors include one daughter, Lois M. Greene and husband, Kenneth, of Vilas; and one son, Arthur Greene and wife, Daphne, and one grandson Timothy Greene and wife, Laura, all of Butler, Tenn.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Sorrells, the Rev. Ray Greene and the Rev. Doug Ranshaw officiating. Music was by the Sugar Grove Quartet and choirs of Sugar Grove and Willow Valley.

6491 Mrs. Oma Lee Holder Richardson, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Dora Estep Holder and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Robert Richardson, three brothers, Deward Holder, Conley Holder, Dan Holder, and an infant sister, Blanche Holder.
Mrs. Richardson volunteered her time as a Pink Lady at Sycamore Shoals Hospital and also for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She was retired from North American Rayon Corporation where she worked for over fifty years.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Kay Larkin and her husband, Jim, Knoxville; two grandchildren, John Larkin and his wife, Jill; Susan Brown and her husband, Mike, all of Knoxville; five great-grandchildren, Lindsey Brown, Laura Brown, Savannah Larkin and Corey Larkin, all of Knoxville; Caleb Pleasant, Rhode Island; two brothers, Hoover Holder and his wife, Maureen, Elizabethton; Lloyd Holder, Rolling Hills Estates, CA; four sisters, Sylvia Bradley, Jonesborough; Eva Estep, Elizabethton; Lois Edmison and her husband, Manuel, Kernersville, NC and Shirley Richardson and her husband, Ronda , Winston-Salem, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to express a special and heartfelt thank you to Linda Tester, Tracey Steffey, Rose Branch and Karen Ludlow for their friendship and care over the past three years. Also a thank you to Harold and Martha Smith, Brad and Amber Smith and Mrs. Richardson’s wonderful neighbors, and Jack and Lynn Hamilton for all their visits.
The funeral service for Mrs. Richardson will be conducted on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2:30 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Ron Owens officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1:30 – 2:30 PM on Tuesday prior to the service.

Mrs. Sadler was born in Johnson City and the daughter of the late Blaine & Vestal Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her brother Robert “Bud” Hughes and his wife Marie.

She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson City.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Sadler, Johnson City.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2020 at First Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson City with Pastor Tony Trott officiating. The family will receive friends at the chuch from 6:00-7:00 pm Monday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Unicoi, Tennessee and the daughter of the late Samuel Eugene & Rachel Linville McLaughlin.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Bennett; son, James Alan Bennett, Sr. (Heather) daughters, Tammy Bennett Steffey and Teresa Bennett; two sisters, Esther "Charline" Church and Jewel Stewart; grandchildren, James Alan Bennett, Jr., Daniel Lee Bennett, Whitney Cheyenne Douglas, Samantha Lee Campbell, Michael Eugene Williford and Tia Skye Thompson; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

6494 Mrs. Ora Glenna Oliver, 79, 982 Old Gray Station Road, Gray, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Oliver was a native of Sullivan County but had lived most of her life in Washington County. She was a daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha Oliver Bowers and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Oliver, in 1994, four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Janette Foxx Conley and Carolyn Gouge, both of Gray; a son, Robert Wayne Oliver, Johnson City; a brother, Howell Bowers, Chuckey; three granddaughters, Cindy Oliver Walker, Jana Gouge Wilson and Tammy Oliver Wilson; and a grandson, Jay P. Gouge. Four great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.

6495 Mrs. Ora Osborne Brown, 94, a resident of Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Sullivan County, Tenn., and daughter of the late Charles and Lilly Hicks Osborne. She was a charter member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. She was an active member of the March for Christ Organization of Vance Bible Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E. R. Brown and sons, John E. Bowery Jr. and Charles Bowery.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Haynes Watson of Bristol, Tenn., Elinor and Wimpy Gray of Bluff City; daughter-in-law, Peggy Mitchell Bowery of Bristol, Tenn.; special son-in-law, Mack Mottern of Bristol, Tenn.; stepchildren, Edith and Page McClellan of Bluff City, and Mildred and Pat Moore of Atlanta; sister, Rosene Salyer of Kingsport; and brothers, C.J. Osborne Jr., of Bluff City, Wallace Osborne of Piney Flats and I.G. Osborne of Blountville. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Ossie Deloach Davenport, 88, 122 Old Charity Hill Road, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Davenport was a Carter County native and a daughter of the late Bob and Minnie Helton Deloach.

She was a member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davenport was formerly employed by Hermitage Health Care Center as a certified nursing assistant. She also was a part-time antique dealer.

Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by one son, Harold Davenport; two daughters, Margie Davenport Coleman and Alice Yvonne Davenport; two brothers, Emmett Deloach and Robert Deloach; one half brother, Frank Deloach; two half sisters, Eva Helton and Ethel Troxell; and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband, W.E. “Frank” Davenport; two sons, Glen Davenport, Erwin, and Bobby Davenport, Elizabethton; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

6497 Mrs. Ossie Mae Carrier, 88, 2256 Siam Road, Elizabethton, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 1, 2007 following a brief illness.

Mrs. Carrier was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Chassie White Rowe and was a native of Sullivan County. She was a member of the Valley Forge Christian Church and a former co-owner of C. & O. Auction House. Mrs. Carrier was a member of #470 Order of the Eastern Star in Hampton where she was a past Worthy Matron and past Grand Representative. She was the Past President of the TOPS Club in Elizabethton and served as the past president of the Ladies Council of the Valley Forge Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carrier was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Cecil Carrier; two brothers, Holly Rowe, Paul Rowe; three sisters, Stella Carrier, Tressie Bolton and Ruby Jennings.

Mrs. Carrier is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Larry Amstutz of Orrville, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. C. Randall Carrier, Minister, and Sandy, of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Nathan and his wife Tiffany Amstutz of Smithville, OH; Renata Amstutz of Boulder, CO; Micah Paul Amstutz of Orrville, OH; Analyse Amstutz of Orrville, OH; two great grandchildren, Elijah and Cadence Amstutz of Smithville, OH and one on the way very soon; special friend Frieda Winters of Elizabethton whom was like a daughter to Ossie and her many special friends at Pinecrest Christian Church where her son is the minister. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Carrier will be conducted on Monday, September 3, 2007 at 8:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, in Elizabethton with Mr. H. Clay Bailey, Minister and Mr. Ken Caswell, Minister officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Morningview Cemetery, Bluff City. Mrs. Milhorn was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Norman "Nom" H. Fair and Etta Mae Roe Fair. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Johnson City. Survivors include her husband, Wylie F. Milhorn, of the home; a special niece, Jean Slemp, Elizabethton; several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mrs. Pansy Fair Milhorn will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. 6499 Mrs. Patsy Raye Eggers, 71, passed away on November 1, 2018, to be with her Lord and Savior; family was by her side as she passed.

Patsy fought her battle with pancreatic cancer courageously. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.O. and Mary Ruth Haworth, grandparents, Lilly and Charlie Lowery, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Edna Eggers, and several cousins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, Bobby, her loving son Brian Eggers and his wife Kim, her sister Dona Bryant, of New Market, niece Kimberly Burkhalter and husband Don, her nephews and several cousins, including a special cousin, Billy Haworth, sister-in-law Anna Reeves, a very special granddaughter Savannah Eggers and her fiancé Robbie Jackson, and her two precious dogs, Mason and Otis.

All who knew her will miss her sweet smile and happy personality. Her proudest achievements in life include being a loving wife, mother, and meemaw. She cared deeply for all of her family and friends, and she had a strong passion for animals. She was awarded a lifetime membership in the Asbury PTA for her work as a substitute teachers and library assistant at Asbury Elementary.

She will dearly miss her pastor, Perry Cleek, and all her friends and church family at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church. Per her request, there will be no services.

6500 Mrs. Pauline Kelly, 88, 903 Oak Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Kelly was a native of Avery County, N.C., and a daughter of the late David and Ruby Cook Trivett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Coy Kelly, January 19, 1957, a daughter, Wanda Bass, a son, Paul Kelly, a brother, James Trivett, and two sisters, Louise Oliver and Loy Trivett.

Mrs. Kelly had lived in Elizabethton since 1928. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years and was active in the W.M.U. of the church.

Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Cole, Elizabethton; a son, David Kelly, Jefferson City; two sisters, Margie Trivett, Elk Park, N.C., and Agnes Walsh, Dearborn, Mich.; two brothers, Omer Trivett and Bert Trivett, both of Elk Park N.C.; a son-in-law, James Bass; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Kelly; and a sister-in-law, Betsy Bare. Eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
