6302 Mr. William Benjamin "Bill" Isaacs, 82, of Antioch Road, Mountain City, Tenn., died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2004.

He was born Sept. 4, 1922 in Watauga County, N.C., a son of Enoch and Martha Cornett Isaacs.

Mr. Isaacs was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a tradesman.

Survivors include one daughter, Theresa Marie Isaacs of Zionville; three sons, Terry lee Isaacs of Meat Camp, Dennis Martin Isaacs and wife, Paulette, of Elk Park and Robert Dale Isaacs and wife, Cindy, of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Shirley Sanders of Lenoir and Blanch Presnell of Zionville; and two brothers, Joe Isaacs of Lenoir and Johnny Isaacs of Sugar Grove.

Fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Julius Stephen and David Benjamin Isaacs and an infant; three daughters, Martha Sue and Mary Carolyn Isaacs and an infant; one brother, Rom Isaacs; and his parents, Enoch and Martha Cornett Isaacs.

Services were conducted Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Church officiating.

Burial was in the Henson's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

6303 Mr. William Bennett died suddenly near his home on Monroe Draft, Irish Corner district this county, last Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1909, aged 65 years.
He had gone to the woods near his home to chop some wood, and a short time after was heard calling for help. He was found in a paralyzed condition, and died before he could be taken home.
Mr. Bennett was born in Summers county, but had lived at Hightop for the past thirty years. He is survived by his wife and eight children, namely: Mrs. William Honaker, of Caldwell;; John R. Bennett, of Fayette county; Wm. R. Bennett, of Pence Springs; Mrs. Charles Bennett, of Covington, Va.; Mrs. C. V. Holesapple, of Durbin; Mrs John Fury, of Seebert; Amos W. Bennett of Caldwell; and O. T. Bennett, of Alleghany county, Va.
Deceased was Confederate soldier in the civil war and a member of the Baptist church. Funeral service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. A. McGlelland, of Ronceverte, and his body was laid to rest in the Adwell graveyard.

6304 Mr. William Howard "Bill" Tester, born in Butler, Tennessee on June 7, 1925, the youngest of fourteen children, to the late Eli Finlkey Tester and Sarah Camoline Presnell Tester, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

He attended schools in Butler, high school in Moultrie, GA and college in Johnson City, TN and Buffalo, NY. He also attended several sessions at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy in Donelson, TN.

Bill was a flyer during World War II, U.S.A.A.C., with duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations. His preflight started on Aug. 6, 1942, with his first discharge on December 15, 1945 and his second on May 15, 1947. His list of Medals, Ribbons and Awards include: American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, Army of Occupation Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge and Pistol Bar, Marksman Badge and Carbine Bar, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII.

Bill's career experience includes B.F. Goodrich Research Lab in Brecksville, Ohio; State of Tennessee Wildlife Officer and supervisor, 31 years; McGuffin Lumber Company, and Paty Lumber Company.

Bill was married to Irene Cameron Tester for 54 years before her passing in 2011. He has two sons: Doyle and Ricky Tester; grandson: Craig Tester; and granddaughter: Tiffany Tester Spencer. Great grandchildren: Eli Alfred Spencer, Eric Agnus Spencer, Elliott Abraham Spencer, Earl Addicus Spencer, Eva Ellaine Spencer, Alice Eloise Spencer and Ann Spencer. Along with his parents who preceded him in death, so do his siblings: David Tester, Queen Aner Romainger, Harvey Tester, Sara Rilda Campbell, Finley Tester, Ida Finney, Benjamin Tester, Luke Tester, Nelson Tester, Ruby Edith Trivett, Louis Tester, Della Ruth Jones, and Anna Mae Cook long with several nieces and nephews.

Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, UT sports (especially UT football). He served as a high school basketball coach at Watauga Academy in the late 1940's, and coached a semi-pro Team in Hampton, TN. He was a charter member and past president of the West Morristown Lions Club, and has served on the Board of Trustees of Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System, where he also had been a volunteer since January 1999.

Bill was saved in June 1942 at the Elk River Baptist Church in Butler, TN and has been a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for most of his life.

His family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, Morristown, TN with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Larry R. Parrott and C.H. Harvell officiating. Interment and Military graveside services conducted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Colorguard will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church and honorary pallbearers are Darrell Lawson, Jim Wall, Phillip Moore, and Charles Wilder.

6305 Mr. William R. Nunley, affectionately know as "Bill", went to a higher place on Wednesday, March 21, 2007. He was a native of Carter County. He was also an outstanding citizen of the community demonstrated by his kindness, business integrity and leadership over the years. Mr. Nunley served in the military and pursued a career in electronics. Despite a job opportunity with NASA, he chose to remain in the beautiful Northeast Tennessee area he loved to raise his family. He worked at North American Rayon Corporation and Montgomery Ward before venturing into his own business. He began a small television sales and repair shop that evolved into the Nunley's Furniture Stores that have served the Tri-Cities area for over 45 years. Bill had a zest for life not often seen. He was active in sports and had the opportunity to box professionally. Bill was a lover of football games and the Tennessee Vols. His wit and charm always brought smiles and laughter. His kind nature and generous spirit warmed the hearts of everyone around him. Bill was the son of the late Richard and Vertie Nunley. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Nunley, James Nunley, Jack Farmer and one sister, Shirley Baird. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife and business partner, Jewel Nunley, his cherished children, Dr. Diana Nunley-Gorman, Tony Nunley, Delilah Nunley and Deborah Bartley, and his treasured grandchildren, Brooks Gorman, Stuart Gorman, Nicholas Gorman and Myranda Gorman. He is also survived by four sisters, Ann Trivette, Nola Trivette, Gladys Humphrey and Mary Hart. 6306 Mr.Vestal Yelton, 92 of Sykesville, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Transitions Health Care in Sykesville. Born November 9, 1922 in North Carolina, he was the son of the late John and Hattie Green Yelton. He was the husband of the late Carrie Yelton, his wife of 54 years. He had worked for Baltimore City Water Supply for 36 years. He loved the outdoors, especially camping, hunting, gardening and fishing. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren and teaching them about the outdoors. He was a member of Louisville Bible Church. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Emma Yelton of Sykesville, daughters and sons-in-law Patsy and Ron Ash, and Gerri and Duane Darling, all of Finksburg, sister Mary Yelton of Bakersville, NC, grandchildren Georgia Haugh, Pam Taylor, Kevin Ash, and Christopher Darling, and great grandchildren Crystal Baldwin, Kayla Ash, Carrie Darling and Hannah Darling. He was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Bailey, by his siblings James, Joyce, Arnold, Clyde, Floyd, London and Jessie Yelton, Martha Mosley, Cora Adkins, and Dona Buchanan and by his granddaughter Melissa Baldwin. 6307 Mrs Fannie Jane Cable Dugger, 87, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004. A native of Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Nancy Stout Cable. Mrs Dugger was a homemaker. She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dallas D. "Judd" Dugger. and by two sons, Larry J and Melvin W. Dugger. Survivors include two sons Richard and Kenneth Dugger, all of Elizabethton. Two brothers Jim and Howard Cable.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:PM Sunday June 13, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside services at 10 AM June 14, 2004 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery

6308 Mrs Martha Pat Simpson Stover Trivett passed away on January 20, 2018 with her loving family at her side.

She is the daughter of the late Mary Byrne Simpson and Charles Grattan Stover.

She is preceded in death by her husband Barclay Rexford Trivett and sister Mary Bryne Stover Winnsborough.

She is survived by her son Charles Rexford Trivett, Jacksonville Florida, wife Tammie, Granddaughter Ashley and fiancé Eriq Jones, grandson Sgt. Christopher Trivett U.S. Army, wife Moriah, great grandson Tristan James, daughter Mary Bryne Trivett, Knoxville Tennessee.

Born in Greeneville, South Carolina, She was educated at the Georgia State College for Women, worked at K-25 in Kingston TN where she met her husband. After moving to Johnson City in 1967, she joined First Presbyterian Church and served devotedly until the recent years. Mrs Trivett returned to school in 1975 and obtained her Master in Library Science, she served as Johnson City Medical Center Librarian for many years, and was at the forefront of the early internet with "Grateful Med". Mother participated in Monday Club, Librarians Consortium. Mother loved camping, reading, playing the piano, gardening, participating in her church choir/bible studies/circles Wednesday night suppers/Vacation Bible School/ volunteering in the church office/worshiping/serving as a deaconess and validating feminine spiritual leadership, contributing to the Lenten devotional, gardening, swimming, the beach, setting a beautiful Holiday table, traveling, genealogy and history. Mom was always ready to recommend a good book to her kids and encourage the education of her family. She made a beautiful photo album of the family going back four generations for each of her children, sister and herself, it is a special treasure which speaks to her devotion to family history.

Thanks to Cornerstone Assisted Living for their wonderful care making her last hears comfortable, safe, and pleasant, thanks also to Cornerstone North and Caris Hospice for making her last days peaceful and pain free, a special thanks for her First Presbyterian Church for visiting her over the years, to our friends and family for making this our last journey with Mom easier to bear.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

6309 Mrs Texie B. Peters, 80, Rt. 2, Hampton, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1990, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was a Unicoi County native but had lived in Mishawaka, Ind., for 15 years before coming to Hampton. She was a daughter of the late Harrison and Frances Bentley Calhoun. Mrs. Peters was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one grandchild. Survivors include her husband, Mike Peters; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Hazlewood, Plymouth, Ind., Mrs. Carolyn Magnuson, Mishawaka, and Mrs. Gail White, Hampton; four sons, Jack R. 6310 Mrs. "Mama" Lucy Faye Minton Moody, age 91, of 379 Linville Creek Road, Vilas, died Monday, September 28, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Moody was born December 17, 1917 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Isaac Newton Minton and Anor Estella Isaacs Minton.
She was a retired sales clerk for Newton's Department Store and a member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church.
Mrs. Moody is survived by her husband "PaPa" Charlie Moody of the home, one son, Dean Moody and wife Mary of Vilas, two grandsons, Clifton Moody and wife Elaine, Steven Moody and wife Lisa all of Vilas, two granddaughters, Kristy Goforth and husband Mitchell of Deep Gap, Kim Moretz and husband Jon, of Creston, and seven great grandchildren, Tasha, Nathan, Seth, Gabrielle, Tabitha, Moody and Amber and Austin Amon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Clifton Eugene Moody, three sisters, Birdie Ila Harris, Ettie Arvilla Brewer and Effie Hodges, five brothers, Grady, Claude, David, Vilas and Charlie Minton.
Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery.

6311 Mrs. Abbie Stout Deloach, 73, Rt. 4, Elizabethton, died in the Carter County Memorial Hospital Thursday morning following an illness of one year.

A native of Glade Springs(sic), Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Lillie Younce Stout and the widow of John Deloach who died January 9, 1948. Mrs. Deloach was a member of the Valley Forge Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Nita Sams.

Survivors include two sons, Walter Deloach, 818 Cambridge Ave., Elizabethton, and James H. Deloach, Rt. 1, Elizabethton; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Laura) Colbaugh, of the home, and Mrs. R. L. (Lena) Nave, Rt.1, Elizabethton; four brothers, John Stout, Bundy, Virginia; Jadie Stout, Cleveland, Ohio; Ed Stout, Watauga, Tennessee; and James Stout of Florida. Six sisters, Mrs Ida Matherly, Butler; Mrs. Booker, Rt.3, Elizabethton; Mrs. Edith Thomas, Pottstown, Pennsylvania; Mrs. China Bathwood of Ohio; Mrs. Blanche Scott, Rt. 3 Elizabethton; and Mrs. Virginia Cottrell, Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

6312 Mrs. Addie Mae Tolley, 76, 810 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, died
Monday, November 22, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Tolley was a native of Boone, N.C., and a daughter of the late James
Roy and Elizabeth Brinkley Matheson. She was also preceded in death by a son,
Rev. Johnny Combs, two sisters, Blanche Merritt and Mabel Wallace, and a
brother, Lee Matheson.
Mrs. Tolley had lived in Carter County for the past 45 years. She was a
member of the Blue Springs Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ikie M. Tolley; a son and daughter-in-law,
David and Tammy Combs, Elizabethton; a stepson and his wife, Joe and Joan
Tolley, Elizabethton; two brothers, Thomas Matheson, Elizabethton, and Edgar
Matheson, Marion, Va.; two grandsons, Jamie Combs and Jody Combs, both of
Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Krystal Combs, Elizabethton; a great-granddaughter,
Millicent Combs; and a stepgrandson, Jeff Tolley. Several nieces and nephews
also survive.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

TOLLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Addie Mae Tolley, 76, 810 Blue Springs
Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday
at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Mack Bennett and Mr. Richard Thomason,
ministers, officiating. Interment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active
pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 150 p.m.
Wednesday, will be Glenn Hardin, Houston Timbs, Jim Rouse, Gayle Oliver, Mack
Collins, Lawrence Pierce and Ivan Buckles. Honorary pallbearers will be her
church family. Also surviving are her special friends, Molly and Landon
Lingerfelt, Shirley and Judy Bowers and Beulah and Glen Hardin. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon Wednesday until the service
hour at 2 p.m. Friends may also call at the residence of a son and
daughter-in-law, David and Tammy Combs, 2936 Siam Road, Elizabethton. Memorial Funeral
Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

6313 Mrs. Alice Eggers Tester, 66, of Lexington, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

She was born Oct. 11, 1929, in the Dutch Creek community of Watauga County, a daughter of the late Eugene and Tempie Shook Eggers. She was a former nurses aide and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Tester; four sons, Terry Tester, Jeffrey Tester and Kevin Tester, all of Lexington and W.T. Tester of Salisbury; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmy (Ala Jo) Koontz of Lexington; four brothers, Buster Eggers and Jack Eggers, both of Lexington, Claude Eggers of Route 3, Banner Elk and Fred Eggers of Boone; four sisters, Mrs. Etta Davis and Mrs. Mary Eggers, both of Route 4, Banner Elk; Mrs. Snow Caraway of Newland and Mrs. Betty Hughes of Roan Mountain, Tenn. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Cecil Gary Tester and a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Cole.

Services will be Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. Max Shoaf and the Rev. Lynne Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington.

6314 Mrs. Allie Mae Stout Livingston, 83, 810 Dogwood Acres, Hampton, died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton
following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Livingston was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John Abe and Linnie Perdue Stout. She was also preceded in death by
her husband, Luther Livingston, a daughter, Dorthy Williams, and two brothers, Glenn and Floyd Stout.
Mrs. Livingston was a homemaker and a Charter Member of the Valley Forge Church of God, having attended the church for over 60 years. She
had numerous half-sisters and brothers.
Survivors include four sons, Roy Livingston, Carrol Livingston and Jerry Livingston, all of Elizabethton, and Richard Livingston, Hampton;
three brothers, Harry Stout and Gilbert Stout, both of Elizabethton, and Robert Stout, Indianapolis, Ind.; a grandson, Roger Livingston; a granddaughter, Traci Livingston; a great-granddaughter, Whitney Livingston;
several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ray Rash.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Mae Stout Livingston, 83,
810 Dogwood Acres, Hampton, who died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, and is
now in heaven rejoicing with the Angels, will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Saturday, December 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ken
Bewley and the Rev. Mike Kirby officiating. Jurrelle Smith will provide
the music. Interment will be in the Jenkins Cemetery.

6315 Mrs. Alma Lee Edwards, age 80, of the Lamar Community, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at home. She was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church, Jonesborough. Alma was born in Jonesborough, Tennessee on November 4, 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Eugene “Gene” Edwards; parents, George Dawson Miller and Beulah (Lewis) Miller; sister, Wanda Miller Rash; brother, Emery Miller and son-in-law, Kamay Holder.
She leaves behind daughter, Lori Holder; daughter, Tina Purdie and husband, JB; son, David Edwards and wife, Shana; grandchildren, Jillian and Ethan; brother, Fred Miller and wife, Norma and sister, Anna Sue Hicks.
Grave side services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, December 13, 2021 at Cherokee Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough, with Mark Sirois officiating. Pallbearers will be Nathan Coggins, Wayne Morrow, Mark Pfeiffer, Kenny Robinette and Frank Walters.

6316 Mrs. Barbara Ann "Maw" Casey, age 78, Jonesborough, we lost our loving sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother on Saturday May 31, 2014 after a short illness.

Mrs. Casey was a native of Washington County and the daughter of the late Clyde and Monte Hensley Nelson. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Tommy and Howard Nelson.

Mrs. Casey was a homemaker and lifelong farmer.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Casey, Lynn Casey and wife Kara, and Ronnie Casey; one daughter Connie Casey Purcott and husband Bob; three granddaughters, four grandsons, five great granddaughters, and several great great grandchildren; two brothers Benjamin "Wayne" Nelson, and Cecil Nelson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Casey will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014 7:00PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Jenkins officiating, the family will receive family and friends from 5-7:00PM prior to the service.

6317 Mrs. Bertha (Cecil) Fletcher of Oxford, Pa., formerly of Elizabethton, died at Oxford Tuesday morning after a short illness.
She was a native of Carter County and a member of the Doe Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son Kermit Fletcher, Oxford, Pa.; three daughters, Mrs. Romeo Shoun of Oxfonrd[sic], Pa., and Mrs. Blanche Walton, Oxford, and Mrs. J.C. Campbell, also of Oxford; one brother, Landan[sic] Sheffield of Elizabethton; four sisters, Mrs. Andy Estep, Mrs. Rex Williams, and Mrs. Clara White, all of Elizabethton; and Mrs. Kennenth[sic] Thompson of West Grove, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

6319 Mrs. Bertha O. Nichols, 93, 101 Mitchell St., Providence, R.I., died Monday morning in the Elmwood Health Center after a lengthy illness. A native of Carter County, she had lived in Rhode Island for the past 20 years and was a daughter of the late Frank and Joanne Archer Peters. Mrs. Nichols was a Protestant and was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Nichols, Sr., in 1981. Survivors include two sons, Ray Nichols, Rt. 5, Johnson City, and Carl Nichols, Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Mike Peters of Hampton; and two sisters, Mrs. Nell Pierce of Hampton and Mrs. Laura Bowers of Elizabethton. Two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The body is being returned to Elizabethton for funeral and interment. She was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Beech Creek, Avery County, to the late Lewis and Janie Triplett Trivett.

Mrs. Hollars was a retired cafeteria worker from the public schools in Watauga County and Appalachian State University. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Vilas.

6321 Mrs. Bessie Helen Hicks Norris, age 97, of 302 Ridge Road, Boone, wen to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2019, at the home of her daughter, Jane Phillips of Tod. Mrs. Norris was surrounded by her family and loved ones as she made this journey.

Bessie Helen Hicks Norris was born August 20, 1921 in Watauga County, a daughter of Thomas and Lillie Fair Arnette Hicks.

She is survived by four sons, Clark Norris and wife Sharon of Conover, Glen Norris and wife Barbara of Butler, Tennessee, Fred Norris and wife Jewel of Boone, Wade Norris and wife Brazilla of Boone; four daughters, Lisa Flynt and husband Tim of Maiden, Jane Phillips and husband Fred of Todd, Margaret Baird of Thomasville, and Rachel "Becky" Winebarger of Boone; one daughter-in-law, Paulette Norris of Elizabethton, Tennessee, and one son-in-law, Paul Townsend of Banner Elk. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Denver Norris; one daughter, Mary Helen Norris Townsend; one son, Walter Norris; two sisters, Hazel Hicks and Ella Mae Hicks Yates; seven brothers, Jack, Albert, Sam, Dale, Paul, Cecil and Bob Hicks; and one son-in-law, David Winebarger.

Funeral services for Bessie Helen Hicks Norris were conducted Wednesday afternoon, at 1:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.

The body was view at the chapel, from 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Pastor Burl Greer and a grandson, Joel Norris.

Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery.

6322 Mrs. Bessie J. Cole Deloach, 98, 1020 Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Lenoir Health Care Center, Lenoir, N.C., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Deloach was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Cameron and Ada Markland Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Egbert Deloach, in 1960; four brothers, Hugh Cole, Frank Cole, Parrott Cole and Charlie Cole; two sisters, Lou Weaver and Elva Morrell; and two stepdaughters, Nellie McConnell and Ethel Messerschmidt.
Mrs. Deloach was retired from the Tennessee Line and Twine Company. She was a charter member of East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Bradshaw, of the home; a sister, Mary Cole, Elizabethton; a brother, Willie Cole, Elizabethton; a stepdaughter, Ruth Davis, Crystal River, Fla.; and a grandson and his wife, Lee and Linda Bradshaw, Lenoir, N.C. Two great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Hobbs officiating. 6324 Mrs. Betty Jane Crum, 68, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Elizabethton, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Flora Mae Mayse Bowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Russell, and two brothers, Charles Bowers Jr. and Raymond Rosenbaum.
Mrs. Crum was a member of God's House Full Gospel Church and was a Christian lady with a loving heart who loved to read her Bible. She was a loving wife and sister also.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 22 years, Ray Crum, of the home; a sister, Cora Bell Greenwell, Elizabethton; and two nieces, Melissa Miller and Pam Tester, both of Elizabethton. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Crum will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Jerry Davis and Pastor Kim Casey officiating. 6325 Mrs. Betty Sue Clark Fulkerson, age 89, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Fulkerson was born December 28, 1931 at her home in the Knob Creek Community and the daughter of the late John C. Clark, Jr. & Grace Thornburg Clark. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Maynard Clark and Ollen Clark.

She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and past member of Knob Creek Church of the Brethren. She loved serving at her church by cooking and working various missions.
Mrs. Fulkerson was a great cook, loved people, loved baking cakes, water color painting, enjoyed and shared a passion with Ralph of Western Square Dancing for over 60 years, she was always by his side and she was his connection to all the dancers. She was a supportive wife and mother to her family. She always wanted us to know she loved us more. She was a faithful friend and hard worker.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 69 years, Ralph Fulkerson; daughter, Karen Woodby (Mike); son, Ralph Fulkerson, Jr. (Amy); grandchildren, Aubrey Fulkerson (Katie), Erin Evans (Chris) and Kristie Brown (Chris); great-grandchildren, Emma, Theo and Lily; brother, William R. Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Guy and Helen Christine Russell Treadway and was a native of Carter County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Adams. Mrs. Adams was a member of Charity Hill Freewill Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Spurgeon and Naomi McQeen Morley. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. She had worked as a cook in the Carter County school system for several years. Mrs. Greenwell was a member of the Zion Baptist Church and was active in the WMU of the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. "Doug" Greenwell, November 18, 1983; by a grandson, Tony Greenwell; three brothers: Dana Morley, D.C. Morley, Sr and James Morley; four sisters: Carrie Bradley, Eula Tester, Gladys Stout and Dorothy Whitson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemmie Trivette; two grandsons, Calloway Paul Trivette and Timothy Dean Trivette; and 12 sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state from 10 until 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Mrs. Bowers was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Myers Large, prominent pioneer families of this section. 6339 Mrs. Cora Jane Peters Crowe, 82, Rt. 7, Elizabethton, died Sunday, November 28, 1993, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Crowe as a native of Carter County and a daughter of the Wiley C. and Doshie Richardson Peters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana E. Crowe, in 1983, a son, Clifton Crowe, and seven brothers. Mrs. Crowe was a Charter member of the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. 6340 Mrs. Cora Lee Gentry Abel, 92 of 886-C Caldwell Road, Blacksburg, SC on Monday, August 9, 2004 at Cleveland County Hospice At Wendover.

Born February 9, 1912 in Johnson County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Baxter Gentry and Dosha Lee Lefdmond Gentry. She retired from Broyhill Industries at the age of 72 and was a member of State Line Baptist church, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Howard Abel; a son, Norman Vance Abel and a stepson, Norman Paul Abel and three brothers, Earl, Garnet and Raymond Gentry.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and James Parsons of Blacksburg, SC and sister, Mona Greer of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm. Friday, August 13, 2004 at the Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arvie Houck offiiciating. Burial will take place at 4:00 p.m at Blue Ridge Memorial Cemetery, Lenoir.

6341 Mrs. Cozie Ellen Hyder, Elizabethton, peacefully went to her heavenly home on June 6, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Judy Milhorn. She was born on Beech Mountain, N.C., to Joseph and Sarah Parlier on May 13, 1923. She had nine brothers and sisters. She moved to Elizabethton and married Fred Hyder Sr. on July 21,1945.
Mrs. Hyder was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. She loved to play checkers.
She is survived by daughter, Judy Milhorn and husband Byron; sons, Fred Hyder Jr. and wife Sandra and Joe Hyder and wife Judy; sister, Lou Martinelli; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held for Mrs. Hyder at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Greg Largent officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Mrs. Stanley was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Will and Shelia Shell McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gentry E. Stanley, who died January 28 1992, five sisters, Maxine Matherly, Lorene "Pink" Hajicek, Lois Beam, Edith Arnold and Gladys McKinney, and two brothers, Ernest McKinney and Roy McKinney.
Mrs. Stanley was the owner of Stanley Trailer Park. She was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Junior and Brenda Stanley, 1731 West G. Street, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alan McDowell, 228 Heather Lane, Johnson City; four sisters, Zude Brown, Route 4, Elizabethton, Lillie Lyons, Route 1, Hampton, Agnes Walker, 404 South Roan Street, Elizabethton, and Willie Baughman, Clay Little Road, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Timothy Hollifield, Chris Hollifield, Kim Stanley, Sonya Stanley and Heather Stanley; three stepgrandchildren, Jon McDowell, Cheri Todd and Rick Garrison; one adopted granddaughter, Lutfiya Saleh, and one granddaughter-in-law, Monica Hollifield; and a special nephew and family, Sammy, Sally and April Matherly, 1741 West G. 6343 Mrs. D.E. Ritchie dies at age 100

Mrs. Belle Murray Ritchie, 100, 402 East "C" St., Elizabethton, died Wednesday morning in the Carter County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Washington County, she was the daugher of the late Thomas Clayton and Delila Davis Murray. Mrs. Ritchie was preceded in death by her husband, David Elbert Ritchie, in 1950, a former school teacher and Register of Deeds in Carter County for 20 years, by a son, Teddy Glen Ritchie, in 1960, and by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Kate Ritchie Payne in 1974.

Mrs. Ritchie was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she had been an active member in the Hattie Kane Sunday School Class and Circle No. 1 of the United Methodist Women until poor health curtailed her activities in January of 1984.

Survivors include three daughters, Miss Pauline Ritchie of the home, Mrs. Carl M. (Kathleen) Bowers, Rt. 7, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Raymond W. (Emma Jean) Roddy, Division St., Elizabethton; and four sons, Ralph X. Ritchie, Echo Dr., Elizabethton, H. Roscoe Ritchie, 586 Bloomindale Pike, Kingsport, Elbert C. Ritchie, 1248 Grand Highway, Clermont, Fla., and Sam Q. Ritchie, 513 Allen Avenue Extension, Elizabethton. Twenty-one grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

She was born Feb. 2, 1939 in Avery County, a daughter of Finley and Addie Stines Estep. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Beech Mountain Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Curtis Hicks and his wife, Doris, of the home; one granddaughter, Heather Ann Hicks of Elk Park; one grandson, John Younce and wife, Davina, of Mountain City, Tenn.; one great-granddaughter, Deanna Marie Younce of Mountain City; two sisters, Blanche Clark and husband, Joe, of Hudson, N.C., and Beverly Nakash of Lynnwood, Wash.; two brothers, Pat Estep and wife, Betty, and Captain Estep and wife, Carrie, all of Elk Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hicks; one brother, Chester Estep; and her parents, Finley and Addie Stines Estep.

Services were conducted Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Eric Cornett. The family received friends Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m., at the chapel.

At other times, the family will be at the home of her son, Curtis Hicks, 719 Buckeye Road in Elk Park.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday morning at11 oâ?™clock at the Beech Mountain Regular Baptist Church Cemetery in Elk Park.

6345 Mrs. Dimple Lee Lewis Anderson, age 86, Washington College Station Rd., Limestone, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at the Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Anderson was a native of Avery County, North Carolina, and the daughter of the late Lum & Abby Taylor Lewis. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Anderson, in 2005; two sisters, Nettie Susong and Odee Buchanan; and two brothers, R.T. Lewis and A.D. Lewis.

She had been a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Mrs. Anderson had worked for Green's Manufacturing as a seamstress and had retired in her late seventies from Plus Mart. She was an avid quilter.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Swanita Elaine & Don Mynatt, Seymour, TN, and Mildred "Millie" H. Anderson, Greeneville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Joseph "Joey" Anderson and Gary L. & Beth Anderson, all of Limestone; two brothers, Rev. T.F. Lewis, Jonesborough, and J.L. Lewis, Knoxville; one sister, Victoria Harrison, Greeneville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor David Tydings officiating. The body will lie in state 1/2 hour prior to service time. Interment services will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery .

Dorothy was born December 27, 1933 and was the daughter of the late William and Ollie Tucker. She was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her three sisters: Grace Thompson, Margaret Chitwood, and Irene Cloyd; and one infant brother, William Tucker.

6347 Mrs. Dorothy Arnold Rogers, age 95, passed away Saturday October 29, 2016 at Johnson City Medical Center.

Mrs. Rogers was a Washington County native, born in Bowmantown, and the daughter of the late William Franklin and Bertha Mae Ball Arnold. She was also preceded in death by her husband Albert "Ab" Rogers, son Curt Arnold Rogers and brothers, Fred and Ben Arnold.

She was a devoted daughter, faithful wife, a nurturing mother, a proud grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, caring supporting neighbor, dedicated church member and a devout Christian. She had a big heart, a Big smile and a big laugh. She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She had a love of crocheting and made many baby afghans and doilies as gifts; many people she loved will always have those treasures to remind them of her.

Mrs. Rogers was a member of Bowmantown Baptist Church until marrying and moving to Fairview community in 1953 where she attended and was member of Fairview United Methodist Church until her death.

Survivors include her daughter Gail Rogers Archer and husband Kenny, granddaughters, Kristy Loflin and husband Tom, Kelly Daniel, and Jana Archer; great grandchildren Jessica Loflin, Cason Byrd, Haven Daniel, and Marley Daniel; great-great grandchild Rylan Quinn Byrd and her mother Stacey Reed.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be 7:00 pm Thursday November 3, 2016 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Mick Funderburg officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday prior to the service.

Graveside will be conducted 11:00 am Friday November 4, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Sarah Wells officiating.

Mrs. Swanson was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Deloach was a Miami native and had lived in Elizabethton since 1947. She was a daughter of the late Dotson and Elizabeth Barnes Marrs.

She was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Marrs; and one granddaughter.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Bessie Holtsclaw Street. Mrs. Gouge was a long-time member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and the Silver Bells Sunday School Class. She had served as custodian of the church for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gouge; a granddaughter, April Wood; and by three brothers and one sister.
