3401 George Shoun - BUTLER
George C. Shoun, 91, a well known owner-operator of Shoun Lumber Company, Butler, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2008, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

He was a native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late William Arthur Shoun Sr. and Grace Kyte Shoun. He was a 2nd generation operator of the Lumber Company that his father started in 1908.

He was a godly man with an overwhelming love for life and his family and a great respect for his fellow man. He was an avid business man with a great knowledge and wisdom of many aspects until the day he passed. He made a lasting impact on everyone he met adults and children alike.

He was a mentor, a father figure to many individuals and obtained an earned respect from all those who knew him. His life on earth was filled with love and greatness. The impact he made during his life and his memory will endure forever. His best loved hobbies were hunting and fishing.

Mr. Shoun was a member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three Brothers: Thelmer Shoun, Butler, John Shoun, Bunkie, La., and Arthur Shoun Jr., Butler; and three sisters: Mary Nutter, Christiansburg, Va., Edna Grissendanner, Prattville, Ala., and Nancy Langlands, Warren, Mi.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Irene Laws Shoun; A Daughter & Son-in-Law: Linda Shoun Grindstaff and Benny, Mountain City: A Son & Daughter-in-Law: Larry Shoun and Deana, Butler; Three Granddaughters: Jill Shoun Blevins and husband, Max Blevins Jr., Katie Shoun Harrell & Husband, John Harrell, and Kelly Shoun, all of Butler; Two Grandsons: Blake Grindstaff and wife, Jackie Sluder Grindstaff, John Burleson and wife, Amanda Greene Burleson, Butler; Four Great Grandsons: Travis Grindstaff and Dakota Grindstaff, both of Mountain City, Conor Burleson and Carson Burleson, Butler; One Great Granddaughter: Josie Cheyenne Grindstaff, Mountain City; Several Nieces & Nephews; His special Care Giver, Hortencia Beunfil and her family.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alan Koch and Rev. Bruce Simcox officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be his family: Linda Shoun Grindstaff, Larry Shoun, Blake Grindstaff, Travis Grindstaff, Dakota Grindstaff, Benny Grindstaff, John Burleson, Jill Shoun Blevins, Katie Shoun Harrell and Kelly Shoun. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Shoun Lumber Company and His Church Family of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.

3402 George W. Malone, 90, 1975 Bristol Highway, Watauga, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Malone was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Robert and Nora Massengill Malone. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Pate Malone, May 18, 1983, several brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Paul Rexroat.
Mr. Malone was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was a retired concrete finisher with J.E. Greene Construction Company.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dorsie and Corine Malone, Riverside, Calif.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy and Jon Rexroat, Corona, Calif., Charlotte Wilson, Glassboro, N.J., and Jeanette and Jerry Reece, Watauga; eight grandchildren; a brother, Joe Malone, Johnson City; and a special friend, Paulette Malone, Watauga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Malone, 90, 1975 Bristol Highway, Watauga, who died Sunday, May 13, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Haskel Ingram officiating. Music will be under the direction of Patty Hodge, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Malone Family Cemetery. George W. Cress, 94, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. H. Matherly Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. after a short illness. Mr. Cress was a native of Johnson County and one of the oldest citizens of this section. He was a prominent farmer and member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. E. H. Matherly of Butler, Mrs. R. H. Crosswhite of Bakersville, Calif., and Mrs. J. E. Thompson of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; three sons, R. G. Cress of Elizabethton, J. C. Cress of Milton, Oregon and J. B. Cress of McKinley, Oregon; 30 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Bumgardner.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church at Butler, Thursday, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. M. H. carder and the Rev. Clarence Nelson officiating. Burial will be made in Morely[sic] Cemetery.
The body will remain in the chapel of the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home until time to be removed to the church for service.

George W. Cress, aged 94, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. E. N. Matherly of Butler, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., after a brief illness.
Cress, a native of Johnson County, was one of the oldest citizens of this section. He was a prominent farmer and a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. E. N. Matherly, Mrs. R. H. Crosswhite of Bakersville, Calif., and Mrs. J. E. Thompson of Serman Oaks, Sal.[sic - ?Sherman Oaks, Ca.]; three sons, R. G. of Elizabethton, J. C. of Milton, Ore., and J. B. of McKinley, Ore., one sister, Sue Anna Mumgardner[sic] of North Carolina, and 30 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be conducted at Cobbs Creek Baptist Church at Butler today (Thursday, March 20) at 10 a.m., with Rev. M. H. Carder and Rev. Clarence Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Morley Cemetery.

3405 George was the son of Paul and Lillian (Hoss) Ellis.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in Alaska.

George graduated from University of Tennessee in 1960 with an engineering degree. He began his career as an industrial engineer in Roanoke, Virginia and eventually moved to High Point, North Carolina.

He lived in High Point for 40 years, and he enjoyed fishing, basket weaving and watching UT sports in his retirement.

The funeral service was conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton, Tennessee.

Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1919, in Avery County, NC, to the late Mack Hughes and Della Ollis Hughes.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband: Auttie Carpenter; Son: Wayne Carpenter; seven sisters and one brother.

Georgia was a member of Mt. View Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and anything to do with flowers.

Georgia leaves behind to cherish her memory her two Daughters: Jean Barksdale of Morganton, NC, and Tammy Brandon of Morganton, NC; Four Granddaughters: Barbie (Eric) Sebens of Champagne, Ill., Brieanna Brandon of Morganton, NC, Stacey Burleson of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Priscilla (Wade) McGuire of Cranberry, NC; Two Grandsons: Steve Rader of Morganton, NC, and Drew Brandon of Boone, NC; Seven Great Grandchildren: Chelsey Lajara, Lexi Sebens, Lyndsey Carpenter, Caleb McGuire, Amanda McGuire, Michael Burleson and Morgan Burleson; along with several nieces and nephews.

3407 Georgia Danner Buckles, 93, 10 Hemlock Street, Bristol, Tn. passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010 in the Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Johnson City.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lee and Eva Sarah Mae Hodges Danner. She had lived most of her life in Carter County before moving to Bristol three years ago. She was a homemaker and was a carrier for the Johnson City Press for a number of years. She was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church, Bristol. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clay R. Buckles, a son: Sonny Clay Buckles, three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include Three Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Carolyn Janette & Robert Buck, Elizabethton, Goldia Rebecca & John Sommers, Johnson City and Sherry Anne & Gary Montgomery, Bristol. A Daughter-In-Law: Marcy Buckles, Johnson City. A Brother & Sister-In-Law: Charles Worley & Lois Danner, Mt. Juliet, TN. 9 Grandchildren: Lisa Buck Reavis, Robin Clay Sommers, Matthew Clay Buckles, Rev. Robert "Tom" Buck, John Christopher Sommers, Gary Wayne Montgomery, Michael Clayton Buckles, Micah Gamaliel Montgomery and Jared Robinson Montgomery. 4 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Gary Montgomery and Dr. Herb Reavis officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be her Grandson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.

3408 Georgia L. Morgan, 91, of Johnson City, was called to Heaven early Sunday, August 30, 2015, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

Georgia was a native of Stoney Creek, TN. She was a daughter of George Wiley and Annie Blevins Lowe. Georgia graduated from Science Hill High School in 1941. Her career was that of a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Georgia was an avid reader, spending much time at the Johnson City Public Library. She had a talent for caring for her flowers.

She was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

She was an unmistakable beauty who swore by Noxzema, Aqua Net, and cod liver oil. She fiercely loved her family and spoke her mind freely and often. She was a masterful storyteller with perfectly coiffed hair just the right shade of Frisky Fawn and precocious, crystal blue eyes. She loved having her nails painted, visiting, and the Miss America Pageant. She loved "those grandbabies" and sending them cards with McDonald's gift cards tucked inside, always elegantly signed "Grandmother Budgie". May she now rest eternally with the Lord. Amen to a beautiful life!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her former husband, James S. Morgan; son, James R. Morgan; brothers, James, Lonza, Dan, Eugene, Roby, and twin brothers, Thomas Selmer and William Delmer Lowe. Sisters preceding her in death are Ethel Sheets, Thelma Crocetta, and Bessie Peters.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Morgan of Johnson City, Betsy Morgan Jernigan of Knoxville, and Robin Morgan Visser of Frederick, Maryland. Surviving grandchildren are Alison Poor (Joe) of Columbus, Ohio; Jonathan Visser (Lauren) of Carrollton, Virginia; Amy Visser Lee of Frederick, Maryland; Stephanie Jernigan of Knoxville; and Molly Jernigan of Paris, Kentucky. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Spencer, and Scarlet Poor of Columbus, Ohio; Josie, Natalie, and Corbin Lee of Frederick, Maryland; and Cody Visser of Carrollton, Virginia. Other survivors include sister, Yvonne Lowe; special nieces, Teresa Smalling, Barbara Tucker, and Pat Lowe; and special friends, Sandy McClain, Karen Hale, Sharon Johnson, Wilma McClain, and Nina Bingham.

The family of Georgia L. Morgan will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015, in Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

Following the visitation, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for a 2:45 p.m. graveside service. Chaplain Ken Solly will officiate.

3409 Georgia Lee Bennett Laws, 96, of Marietta, SC, wife of the late Charlie Jefferson Laws, passed away on December 15, 2019 at River Falls Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Buladean, NC, she was a daughter of the late, Nathan William and Edith Hill Bennett. Mrs. Laws was retired from Stone Mfg. where she worked in the Samples Department and she was a member of Marietta First Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Claudette Laws; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Dunn (Jerry); 3 sisters, Ruby Hyder, Ruth McKinney and Wileda Johns and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two sons, Lester Jack Laws (Vivian) and William "Bill" Charles Laws; 4 brothers, Cecil, Clifford, Harry and Gene Bennett and 2 sisters, Ottolene Tolley and Nadine Googe.

Georgia Lee Willis Radford, age 89, formerly of Erwin, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Agape Healthcare Center. She lived most of her life in Unicoi County. Georgia is a daughter of the late Dave and Myrtle Jones Willis.

She was a homemaker. Georgia was of the Baptist Faith. She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing her guitar, banjo and autoharp. Georgia loved making music and singing. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Duncan Effler; husband, Dean Radford; five brothers and seven sisters.

Georgia leaves behind to cherish her memory, four sons: Jerry Duncan (Charlotte), Unicoi, Randy Duncan, Jonesborough, Johnny Duncan, Erwin, Keith Duncan (Angel), Erwin; two daughters: Connie Carter (Kim), Jonesborough and Sheila Jones (Kevin), Lawton, OK; thirteen grandchildren: Joey Duncan (Jessica), Terry Duncan (Jessica), Christy Cross (David), Tammy Maldonado, Bobby Jones (Nicole), Cam Carter (Stephanie), Jason Duncan, Michelle Effler, Erik Arnett, Katie Arnett, Tiffany Sluder (Dakota), Craig Duncan (Melissa) and Chad Duncan; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

3411 Georgia Marie Shomate, age 88, of Mountain City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Mountain City Care Center. She was born October 19, 1933 to the late Carl Walsh and Ollie Furches Walsh. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Shomate; son, Jesse Robert Shomate; sister, Virgie Stout, Louise Eller, Lonetta Owens; brothers, Richard Walsh and Frank Walsh.

Georgia liked to read her bible and loved going to church. She took care of others and loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and sitting on the porch.

She was a member of Berea Baptist Church and later attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Georgia is survived by daughters, Dixie Widener and Diana Wagner; sons, David Shomate, Rick Shomate(Sheila) and Bill Shomate(Joyce); sisters, Janet Martin(Bob) of Ashland ,OH; brothers, Orville Walsh(Suzy) of Grundy, VA and James Walsh of Mountain City, TN; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great- great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5,2022 at the Rainbow Cemetery with Pastor Steven Spencer and Pastor Sam Icenhour to officiate. Pallbearers will be Ari Halberg, Chad Shomate, Mark Miller, Tommy Eller, Danny Eller, and JC Walsh

3412 Georgia Massengill Warren, age 100, of Bluff City passed away peacefully Sunday March 6, 2016 at the home of her daughter Nancy W. Taylor.

Georgia was born November 8, 1915 to George and Margaret Massengill in Bluff City, TN, on Southern Valley Farm. She was one of six girls. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Margaret Massengill, husband Paul A. Warren, daughter; Edith L. Davis, Son-In-Law; Coy Davis, sisters; Irene Wagner, Edith Quinn, Betty Ann Morrell, Mabel Southwick and Margaret Rutter.

She is survived by her daughter; Nancy W. Taylor, Grandchildren; Myers Davis of Schererville, IN, Timothy W. Davis and wife Lee Ann of Johnson City, Gregg A. Taylor and wife Sandra of Clinton, TN and Eric P. Taylor and wife Misti of Bluff City, half sister; Linda Kay Finney of Bluff City, great step granddaughter; Kayla Rushing of Wilmington, NC, great step grandson; Morgan Estes of Oak Ridge, TN, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was a loving wife to Paul Warren for 49 years, a charter member of First Christian Church of Bluff City and an avid farmer, gardener and substitute teacher. She loved flowers and tended her garden and flower beds till the age of 97. She loved music and singing in the choir at church. At the age of 12, she sang with the Tennessee Mountaineers and the performed on August 2, 1927 at the Bristol Recording Sessions by Ralph Peer, they recorded two songs that can still be heard on the Bristol Sessions. She is the last performer of the Bristol Sessions to pass away.

A service to honor the life of Georgia will be held Tuesday, March 8,2016 at 8 pm at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel, visitation will be prior to the service from 6 – 8pm. Graveside services will Wednesday 9, 2016 at 11 am at Morrell Cemetery in Bluff City those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50am. Pastor Tim Carlson of Walnut Grove Christian Church and Tom Edwards will be officiating, music will under the direction of Kris Carlson.

Active pallbearers will be John Holsclaw Sr., John Holsclaw Jr., Jerry Morrell, Darrell Taylor, Anthony Comer and Mason Sherve. Honorary pallbearers: Tony Morrell, Michael Morrell, Wayne Torbett, Dean Torbett, Don Warren, Brady Harkleroad and Gerald Utsman.

3413 Georgia Maxine (Hambrick) Shade, 75, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Hillview Health and Rehab Center of Elizabethton. Georgia was born in Elizabethton to the late William and Katherine (Vestal) Hambrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Shade; two sisters, Bernice Guinn and Patsy Street; one brother, Carl Hambrick; and an aunt, whom she took care of, Lucille Miller. Georgia worked as a housekeeper and always kept a clean and tidy home. She always took good care of herself and never went anywhere without her eyebrows drawn on. Georgia was very kind and giving and willing to help anyone that was in need. A very outgoing and talkative person, Georgia never met a stranger. She was a natural caretaker and had taken care of her aunt, Lucille, until her passing. Georgia was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church for 30 years and loved watching her soap operas, gardening, Christmas time, dancing and singing to music of all kinds. Her greatest joy, however, was her family and her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Those left to cherish and remember Georgia include her sons, James W. Estep Jr. and wife Debbie and James Jefferson Estep, all of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Chris Estep, Casey (Michael) Waters and daughter Eleanor Waters, and Cassidy Estep, all of Elizabethton; and three brothers, William “Bud” Hambrick and R.L. Hambrick (Teresa), all of Elizabethton, and Elwood Hambrick (Linda) of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, February 19, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later time.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late G.L. and Lockie Pilk Turbyfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lace, Homer and Dale Pilk and Doran Turbyfield; one sister, Eula Morrell; and several nephews including a special nephew, Gurney Pilk. A graveside service will be conducted at noon Wednesday, February 15, in the Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Nick Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

3416 Georgia Ray Tolley, 75, loving mother and grandmother, entered into eternal rest with our Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2021, peacefully at her home in the Fairview Community of Hampton, Tenn.
Growing up as a child in the Tiger Creek Community, Georgia was the daughter of Frank and Pearl Caroline Byrd Blevins. She married the love of her life, Cecil, at the age of 16, and they moved to the Simerly Creek Community of Fairview. The couple was married 54 years and parents to five children.
Georgia was of the Freewill Baptist Faith, a homemaker and caregiver. She loved to farm, garden and quilt, grow crops of tobacco/flowers and care for her many animals over the decades such as dogs/cats, chickens, goats, and doves. Many a family member or neighborhood friend was welcome to eat a meal, tell a story or drink a cup of coffee, especially during the holidays. She never met a stranger and always wanted to make people laugh.
In her later years, she was an avid collector of Cabbage Patch dolls and enjoyed making them new again for “Granny’s Cabbage Patch Garden.” She cared for her ailing husband for more than 20 years and her youngest granddaughter Courtney with whom she shared a special bond.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Cecil in 2016, her much loved dog “Bubba” and her granddaughter Victoria Faith McQueen.
Georgia is survived by the couple’s children, Betty and Jobe Tolley, Kitty (Marshall Simerly) Tolley, son Cecil Wayne Tolley, all of Hampton, and daughters Shelby and David McQueen and Annie and Danny McQueen of Elizabethton; her granddaughters, Danielle (Bobby Furches) and Abigail Bates, Alexandria McQueen (Logan) Craft, Katarina McQueen (David) Finney and Izabella Sue Davida McQueen, Courtney Tolley, and a grandson Jobe Tolley “JT”, as well as her great-grandchildren, Elana and Joshua Furches, Lucas Bates and Nathan Peters. Special friends/family, Mabel Tolley, Brenda Tipton, Junior Blevins, Norman Coffey, Freddie Jack Davis, and Landon Lingerfelt, her first son-in-law, with whom she shared many a cup of Nescafe coffee and a joke with, survive along with extended siblings and family members.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 14, at 11 a.m. at the Tolley-Cornett Cemetery in the Fairview Community located off Whittemore Road. The Rev. Shane Whittemore will officiate with some of Georgia’s favorite songs of “I’ll Fly Away,” “Gathering Flowers For The Master’s Bouquet,” and “Life’s Railway to Heaven” being played. The family requests that anyone attending the service please wear a mask. Pallbearers will be Danny McQueen, David McQueen, Logan Craft, David Finney, Robert Potter, Bobby Furches and Landon Lingerfelt.

3417 Georgia Williams, age 90, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Gail.

She was born April 16, 1922 in Unicoi County and had been a lifelong resident of Unicoi County, a daughter of the late James Willard and Anna Lee Tipton Lewis.

Mrs. Williams was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her church and church family at Mountain Dale Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams loved to travel and had been to 48 states, Canada, and Novia Scotia.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Glen English, her second husband, Fred Williams; infant twin children, Fate and Kate English; son, Clyde Williams; beloved granddaughter, Rebecca Keever; grandson, Gary Dean English, Jr.; two brothers, Jay Lewis and Fred Lewis; five sisters, Thelma Gouge, Edith Wilson, Reva Hensley, Jean Barnett, and Billie Wright.

Mrs. Williams is survived by four children: Kay Effler and husband, Robert, Unicoi, Gary English and wife, Betty, Erwin, Gail Radford, Erwin, and Joy Williams, Jonesborough; nine grandchildren: Kathy Estep, Glen Effler, Linda Tipton, Robbie Effler, Michelle Zundel, Janet Townsend, Tammy Radford-Williams, Jennifer Davis, and Tia Hammitt; eleven great-grandchildren: Travis Tipton, Brooke Humphreys, Chase Effler, Lacey Tipton, Caleb Hoilman, Zane Zundel, Jesse Zundel, Samantha Townsend, and Bryan Townsend, Amber Radford, and Thatcher Keever; four great-great-grandchildren: Iziah Townsend, Raziel Townsend, Alura Zundel, and Ciena Zundel.

Funeral service for Mrs. Williams will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012, at Mountain Dale Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Tommy Hensley will officiate. She will be taken to the church one hour preceding the service.

Active pallbearers will be Everett Hughes, Ray Chandler, Ray Wilhelm, Steve Price, F. C. Peterson and R. L. Peterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Wright, Troy Zundel, Gerald Nordeen, Howard Townsend.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Joseph R. & Ina May Chambers Williams. He was a retired Millwright. In earlier years he attended Fellowship Community Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Delores Gail Williams and his sister, Mary Jo Fair.

Survivors include his children: Debbie Williams and Jeri-Kay Williams both of the home and Melissa (Gary) Bare, Johnson City. One Grandson: Corey (Maggie) Bare, Elizabethton. Two Great Grandchildren: Madelyne and Carson Bare.

3420 Gerald S. Grindstaff, 65, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Grindstaff was born in Elizabethton and was the son of the late James B. and Doris Anderson Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathaleen Grindstaff.
Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, Albert Grindstaff and his wife, Teresita, of Missouri, and Larry Grindstaff of Elizabethton; and an aunt, Mary Anderson, Elizabethton, who was also his best friend and caregiver. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Grindstaff enjoyed listening to music and to ballgames. He was a loving brother and nephew who will be missed by his family.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Grindstaff will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late James Earl & Ollie Buena Jones Archer. Mrs. Buchanan was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening, working in her yard and working puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Collins, a brother; Rev. James Archer, Jr. and a sister, Doris Woods.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years: Floyd Hershel Buchanan. Four Children: Shelby Jean Shoun and husband Blaine, Limestone, Sharon McKenzie and Whitney Bowling and husband Chris all of Johnson City and Susie Muller & husband Jim, West Palm Beach, Florida. 3422 Geraldine Bowers Baker, age 88, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her residence. A native of Elizabethton, Jerri was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Joe C. and Victoria Ellis Bowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Frank Baker; her three sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Johnny Luker, Ruth and Ed Alexander, and Jean and Bill Curtis; and just recently a nephew, Crawford Alexander.

Jerri loved to read, paint, travel (having traveled to all 50 states), and sing. She was a 1947 graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Carson-Newman College, where she met the love of her life, William Frank Baker, Jr. She later graduated from ETSU in 1972 with a degree in education. Upon her graduation, Jerri taught a year in the Carter County School System. Additionally, she taught first grade at Harold McCormack School in Elizabethton for 15 years.

Jerri was a life-long member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, helped with vacation bible school and taught a children's Sunday school class.

Those left to cherish her memory are her much loved daughter, Sarah: eleven nieces and nephews; their children and grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Geraldine Bowers Baker will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Todd Hallman of First Baptist Church, officiating. Music is under the direction of Nancy Earnest. 3423 Geraldine Brewer Crawley, 77, of Morganton, NC, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019. She was born on Jan. 6, 1942, in Roan Mountain, Tenn., to the late Finley Jerome Brewer and Emma Mae Moody Brewer. She was a longtime member of Amherst Baptist Church where she served many years in the nursery. She retired from Hanes Textile. Geraldine never met a stranger and was known for her outgoing personality.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Brothers: James Sidney Brewer, Finley Ray Brewer and Sonny Jerome Brewer; Sisters: Marjorie Brewer and Zelma Brewer Puett; Brothers-in-law: Tom Sluder, Gene Clark, Dean Johnson; Sisters-in-law: Lena Brewer and Norma Brewer.

She is survived by her Husband of 58 years: James Franklin Crawley of the home; Daughters: Beverly Canipe (Kevin) and Kim Long (Barry), both of Morganton; Granddaughters: Heather Canipe of Boone, Katie Canipe Ramsier (Doug) of Wilmington, NC, Kristen Canipe of Richmond, Va., and Dana Long Myers (Zach) of Morganton; Great-granddaughter: Paisley Myers; Sisters: Alma Sluder, Janvea Clark, and Nancy Johnson; Brothers: Finley Brewer, Jr., John Brewer (Kim); Sister-in-law: Joyce Brewer; Brothers-in-law: Lewis Puett and Cecil Lewis.

3424 Geraldine S. Livingston, age 92, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her residence. Geraldine was born in Carter County to the late Joe and Reatha Goodwin Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Livingston; her sisters, Betty Nave, Christine Oxendine and June Steffin; a brother, Vernon Smith; and a stepmother, Florence Leah Smith.

Geraldine retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 50 years of service in the beaming department. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

3425 Germaine Braswell Greer, 91, Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at Cambridge Health Center in Snellville, Ga.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Williams Braswell.
Germaine was a 1948 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She loved to quilt, cook and work in her garden. She was a member of Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Almond Greer, who passed away August 4, 2014, and by three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Andree Greer, Lawrenceville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Michael (Anna) Greer and Alysia (Blain) Jackson; and her great-grandchildren, Madison and Alexander and Cooper and Caroline; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

3426 Gerrell Lequieu, 87, much-beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly May 3, 2022. Gerrell was born on October 2, 1934 to Jess and Martha Honeycutt in Buladean, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Emma Honeycutt and her sister, Lorena Webb.
Gerrell is survived by her loving husband, SGM Richard Lequieu, U.S. Army Ret. to whom she was married for 67 years. She is also survived by her children Sharon Lequieu Brockwell, Sabra Lequieu Morelock and Richard Lequieu II, son-in-law Johnny Morelock, daughter-in-law Jessica Lequieu and grandchildren Rachel Brockwell, Jarrod Brockwell, Noah Morelock and Jonah Morelock. She is also survived by her sister, Roma Gray, cousin Betty Davidson, nieces Donna Jolly and Lisa Hencherick, nephew Rodney Gray, great-niece Anna Hencherick, and great-nephew Will Hencherick.

Born Aug. 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late G.S. and Rosa Ann Franklin.

Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church for 43 years.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. F.C. Calhoun; brothers, James D., Clarence, Russell, Don and Robert Franklin; sisters, Mary Calhoun and May Oakes; and her son-in-law, James P. Hunter.

Those left to cherish her loving memory include sons and their wives, the Rev. Gertrude is a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late David Carson "D.C." and Martha Miller Shell. Gertrude was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church and a member of the Blue Ridge Pottery Club. In addition to her parents Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred "B.E." Rice; sisters Mary Slemons and Ruth Buchanan; brothers Harry Shell, Lester Shell and Floyd Shell.

He was born June 25th, 1923 in Pulaski County Kentucky, a son of the late Ebb Helton and Mary Myrtle Lowry.
He was a retired insurance agent for Prudential Life Insurance Co., member of Burnside Masonic Lodge No. 634 F &AM, a member of Scottish Rite 32nd degree, of Valley of Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Somerset, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife, Alpha Peggy (Tolley) Helton,
whom he married on December 10th, 1951 in Georgetown, Kentucky;
two daughters, Ruby Lee Helton Reeser Vedar and Vickie Lynn (and Michael) Cornell;
one brother, Jesse T. Helton, Dixie Bend Community;
four grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren and a godson, James F. Cornell.

He was preceded in death by his parents;

3430 Gilbert William 'Bill' Manuel, age 84, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away on Monday morning, March 19, 2018 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on May 16, 1933 to the late Ira and Effie Blevins Manuel. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ann Pruitt Manuel; sister, Ima Lee Cretsinger and brother, Louis Ray Manuel.

Bill was a proud farmer and took great pride in his work. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting and yard selling. He loved going to church at Shady Valley Church of Christ, where he was also a member. Bill loved his family, especially his grandchildren who he loved to spoil.

3431 GILBERT, SC - Chrisley Jay Loveless, 66, of Gilbert, SC on January 7, 2023 surrounded by his family at home. Chris was born and grew up in Elizabethton, TN. After graduating from Happy Valley High School in 1974, he worked for several manufacturing and retail stores in management. More importantly to him, Chris (Jay to his people in Elizabethton) began to work with several bands in Johnson City, TN before joining the band Hickory Switch and traveling around the west. It was there that he met the love of his life Mary on August 5, 1985. The two were engaged in August 23, 1985 and Chris married Mary and her 2 children on November 9, 1985. The next 4 years welcomed 2 more children in 1986 and 1989 and a move to Gilbert, SC in 1991 where they raised their family.

Chris is preceded in death by his mother Tempie D. Loveless, and 2 brothers Leonard Clay and Emmert Ray Loveless. He is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Anita Shelek (Todd) in Wheeling, WV, his son Danny Jumer (Norma) in Gilbert, SC, his daughter Aubrey Vaughn in Columbia, SC, and his son Forrest Loveless in Gilbert, SC; two sisters, Evelyn Stroud, of Statesville, NC, Gaye Loveless, of Elizabethton, TN; two sister's-in-law, Brenda Loveless, of Elizabethton, TN and Linda Loveless, of WY; along with 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild on the way and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Chris was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt the deserved. His family was his whole world.

The family will have a service to honor the life of Chrisley “Jay” Loveless on Saturday January 14th, 2023 at 1 pm with Pastor Charles Swann officiating and Aubrey Vaughn will be presenting the eulogy. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Clifford and Mageline Swanner Tolley.
He was a retired employee of Empire Furniture. Gilmer was a member of the Fairview Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Roger, Marvin & Harlan Tolley.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Mabel Tolley. His Children: Ester Tolley and Lester Tolley and wife Petrica. His Granddaughter: Brittany Rhinehart. One Sister: Louise Stout and husband Tommy. Two Nieces, Two Nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 in the Cochran Cemetery (Fairview Community), Hampton, with the Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow the service. Rev. Henry Berry will provided the music.

3433 Gilson O. Collins was a Union supporter during the Civil War, and took part in the destruction of bridges as a member of the 'Bridge Burners'. He and his brother Watson served in the Second East Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. He served briefly as the Carter County Registrar in 1872.

CAPTAIN GILSON O. COLLINS, CO. M.
Gilson O. Collins is a Carter county man, and remained steadfast to the Union
cause through many dangers and difficulties. Being a man of decided opinions
and with courage to assert and maintain them, he early lost favor with the
Confederate authorities. After assisting to burn the bridge at Union, or
Zollicoffer, as detailed elsewhere, and engaging in the Carter county
rebellion he fled to Kentucky and joined the 2d Tennessee Mounted Infantry and
served with that regiment until its capture, Nov. 6, 1863. Collins, at that
time a private soldier absented himself from his command on account of
striking a Federal officer for making disparaging remarks about Tennesseeans,
and though his absence was known and approved by Col. Carter he was marked on
his company rolls as a deserter. Since the war the facts were made known and
he received an honorable discharge from th? 2d Tennessee Infantry as well as
from the Thirteenth Tennessee Cavalry. Captain Collins was commissioned as
Captain March 22d, 1865, and assigned to duty with Company M. He was in
command of his company in the last Stoneman raid in pursuit of President
Davis. Captain Collins is still living near Valley Forge, Carter countv. Tenn.

3434 Ginger Lou Harris Rutter Buchanan Vance Hoyle, age 75, Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She is a daughter of the late Oscar Clinton Harris and Elaine Murphy Hall. Ginger was born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina and she lived most of her life in Erwin.

She was of the Christian Faith. Ginger retired from Premier Refractories where she worked as Quality Control Manager and Plant Buyer for twenty-four years. She enjoyed camping, flowers and she was a loving caregiver to her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant sister, Robin Harris; one nephew, Anthony "Todd" Chapman and her stepfather, David Hall.

Ginger leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of twenty-one years, Terry Hoyle; two daughters: Angela Sullins (Robbie), Erwin and Amy Rutter, Marshall, NC; four stepchildren: Sabrina White (T.J.), Amanda Cooper (Nathan), Andrew Hoyle (Kirsten) and Kimber Hoyle, all of Erwin; nine grandchildren: Jonathan Sullins (Sidney Shelton), Hannah Carter (Eric), Matthew Pate, Trenton White, Laken White, Noly Cooper, Rowdy Hoyle, Brandy Hoyle and Laura Riddle; three great grandchildren: Aiden Gouge, Breonnah Lane and Zaylah Sullins; two sisters: Sharon Bellamy and Beverly Harris, both of Erwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.

3435 Gladys "Gerry" Stout, 74, of Butler (Poga Community), passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at her residence. Gerry was born in Avery County, N.C., to the late William and Ora Trivette Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mattison E. Stout; one son, David T. Stout; and several brothers and sisters.
Gerry was a homemaker and a member of Stout Hill Church of Christ. She loved to cook, bake and decorate cakes, gardening and spending time with her family.

Gladys was born in Elizabethton to the late Paul "Dijon" Simerly Sr. and Mamie Lewis Simerly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Eugene Webb; two brothers, L.D. Simerly and Paul Simerly Jr.; and the father of her children, Eugene Mack Webb.
Gladys was a homemaker and a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. She had a degree in the Arts from ETSU and enjoyed reading (having read over 1,000 books), sewing, cooking, painting and watching television. Gladys also enjoyed traveling extensively.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Deborah Jean Webb and April T. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Joseph Trivette; father, Millard Potter, and mother, Bessie Potter; sister, Ellen Potter; brothers, Enoch Potter, Boone Potter, Roy Potter and Noah Potter; and son, Michael Danny Trivette.
She was a member of Stone Mountain Baptist Church.

She was born December 10, 1927 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Ronder Hubert Goodwin and Beulah E. Rambo Goodwin. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Byron Butler Mizell also a brother Ronder H. Goodwin Jr., sisters Loraine Snyder, Betty Jo Rhudy and Anna Stout Ethridge.

Ailene graduated Emory and Henry College in 1951. She worked as a legal secretary at the Dean Atchison Law Firm in Washington, DC, and later in civil service at Eglin A.F.B. prior to retiring to become a homemaker.
She was an early and long time resident of Poquito Bayou in Okaloosa County, FL.

Ailene enjoyed decorating, gardening, traveling and studying history and current events. She was a member of the Doe Valley United Methodist Church, the Augusta Jane Evans Wilson Chapter 2640, United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Princess Hirrihigua Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her daughter Lunelle Siegel McCallister and her husband David McCallister of Temple Terrace, FL; three nieces and five nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday June 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Shoun Goodwin Cemetery, 123 Old Butler Road, Mountain City, TN.

She was a daughter of the late Dave Howard and Susie Potter Howard. Gladys was a member of Berea Baptist Church and she loved reading, cooking and especially loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Osborne.

Survivors include her husband, Archie Roberts; one daughter, Sallie Hall of Chicago, IL; six sons, Doug Osborne and wife Camilla, Delbert Osborne and wife Sheila, Charles Osborne and wife Denise, Darrell Osborne and wife Evelyn, Archie Roberts, Jr. (Mack) and wife Lisa, all of Mountain City, TN, Lynn Osborne and wife Kim of Kingsport, TN; one sister, Pauline Miller of Mountain City, TN; one brother, Edward Howard of Ashland, OH; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

3441 Gladys Forbes Snyder, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 21, 2017 following a brief illness. She was born October 27,1923 in Washington County, TN to William M. Forbes and Etta May Boone. She was an excellent homemaker and loved cooking family meals, canning, and gardening.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Dudley Sherman Snyder on April 7,1993 and three brothers, Earnest Forbes of Princeton, WV, Paul Forbes of Princeton, WV and L H. Forbes of Portsmouth, Va; sisters, Eliza Jenkins of Elizabethton, Va; Emma G. Forbes of Johnson City, Tn, Ella Marteen Forbes of Johnson City, TN, and Hazel Foster of Johnson City, Tn.

She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Challengers Sunday School for over 40 years. She had a servant's heart and all who knew her will remember her sweet disposition and service to her church.

She leaves behind two children to cherish her memories, daughter: Dianne M. Snyder of Johnson City, Tn; son, Chris S. Snyder and his wife Jane of Jonesborough, TN.; one grandson, Michael Martin of Elizabethton, Tn. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Gladys Irene Norris McCracken, 91, of the Central Community, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, March 5, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. She was born in the Laurel Fork Community on Buck Mountain in Carter County on May 29, 1919, to the late Bynum Lee and China RoseAnn Church Norris. She was a homemaker and an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was blessed to live 91 active years enjoying the love of her family, and took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Grandma Mac.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Herman McCracken and a brother, Melbourne Norris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, William Bill Nunley, James “Bunny” Nunley, Jerry Nunley, Jack Farmer; and one sister, Shirley Baird.

3444 Gladys Marie McCloud, age 73, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on April 1, 1942 to the late Ray and Venia Loggins Icenhour.

Gladys is survived by her husband of 54 years, Derl H. McCloud; daughters: Alesia Marie McCloud-Chan and husband Paul H. Chan of Denver, CO and Teresa Pearl McCloud Chaplain of Zionville, NC; sister, Laura Ann Davis and husband Charles of Mountain City, TN and her two daughters, Anita Perry and Dianne Wilson; grandchildren: Johnathon Dwight Chaplain, Jessica Lauren Chaplain, David McCloud Chan and Andrew McCloud Chan and many other special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gladys graduated from Johnson County High School in 1960, attended Garner-Webb College from 1960-61, and then later received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Carson-Newman College in 1989. She was an active 4-H member and a member of both her high school and college debate teams.

Gladys and her husband, Derl, published The Tomahawk newspaper until 1986, and she wrote a weekly column, "Gabbing with Gladys." After they sold the newspaper, Gladys returned to college and finished her degree, and Derl took seminary classes and entered the ministry. In 1990, Gladys began working as a teacher with Johnson County Public Schools. She taught second grade at both Neva School and Roan Creek School and after retiring from the classroom in 2007, she continued to work as a certified reading tutor through December of 2014. During this time, she also worked alongside Derl as pastor's wife in four churches: State Line Baptist Church, Roan Creek Baptist Church, Shady Valley Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church.

Raised in Rainbow Baptist Church, Gladys was a devout Christian woman who read her Bible every morning and night. After she and Derl were married, they became members of Roan Creek Baptist Church. Then, when their daughters were teenagers, they joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where Gladys and Jean Wilson began an Acteens program. They rejoined Roan's Creek Baptist Church after Derl retired from the ministry. In every church home, Gladys was involved in WMU, Vacation Bible School and a host of other church and Watauga Baptist Association activities. Over the years, she and Derl also organized and participated in over 25 mission trips across the United States, including trips to Florida, Missouri, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

In addition to church related activities and spending time with family, Gladys enjoyed quilting, reading and being outside. She and Derl also loved to travel and visited 47 states, as well as England and Scotland. In 2012, they shared a special trip to Alaska in honor of their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Roan Creek Baptist Church with Pastor David Hankal officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will follow the funeral at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, May 2, 2015, at Roan Creek Baptist Church.

She was a member of Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Blevins; two sons, Denver and Danny Blevins; and by five sisters and three brothers. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Earl Trivette, Her children, Patsy Galliher and husband Chris, Benny Rupard and wife Phyllis, Judy Howard, Tammy Grindstaff, and husband, Bob. She has 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Everyone in the community knew her by “Maw.” She was a friend to anyone that knew her. She will be deeply missed by so many. Special Thanks to Barbara Denney, Becky Goins, and Amedisys Home Health for helping with care during her illness.

Graveside services for Gladys “Maw” Rupard will be conducted on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 3 pm from the Reece Memorial Cemetery with John Hammett and Spencer Roark to officiate.

3447 Glen Allen Maupin, 80, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 20, 2022, at his residence, after a courageous, twenty-year battle with cancer.
Glen was born July 29, 1941, in Johnson City, to the late Preston Allen and Ollie Perry Maupin
He lived in Cooper Landing, Alaska, for twenty-five years, where his heart will forever remain. Glen temporarily resided in Gray.
He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, where he served more than twenty-five years. Following his retirement from the service, Glen worked as an Engineer for Sprint Telephone Co. for more than twenty years.
He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Gray, and at Kenai Lake Baptist Church in Cooper Landing. Glen had strong ties to family and his many friends. He loved fishing the banks of the Kenai River in Alaska.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by wife Debbie, sister Betty Postma, brothers Roger and Roy Maupin.
Those left to cherish memories of Glen include brothers, Harold (Linda) and Randall (Deb) Maupin; daughters, Donna Dearing and Karen Rutledge (Chris); grandchildren, Crystal Day, Brittney Rogers, Amber Turley and James Rogers; great-grandchildren, Abigail, William, Luke and Oliver; uncle, Jack Maupin; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends, including a very dear friend, Grace Reger.
The family will honor Glen’s life with a graveside service on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 12:00 P.M., in Roselawn Memory Gardens, with Clinton Andrews, Minister, officiating.

3448 Glen Ensor, 85, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the residence of his daughter after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John and Mary Kress Ensor.
Glen served in the United States Army and was a retired employee of Inland Container after 36 years of service. He was an active member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Velma Davis, Ida Conley, Ella Mae Bishop and Moilee Lewis, and three brothers, Ivan Ensor, Robert Ensor and Elbert Kress.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pauline Wilson Ensor; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Mick Kyte, Blountville; one granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Kyte; one sister, Jesselene Ensor; two brothers, Aubrey and Denny Ensor; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Glen Ensor will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family, former employees of Inland Container and his special friend, Hope Pearson.

3449 Glen Frazier Hardin, 84, of Erwin, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Center on Aging and Health. Mr. Hardin was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Clyde and Maude Brackins Adkins Hardin. Glen served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for the former National Casket Company, the former G.M.F. and the National Forest Service. Glen loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren and gave suckers to people as a way of making friends. He was a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hardin is preceded in death by wife, Bernice Smith Hardin; brothers, J.B. Hardin, Dewey Adkins, and June Adkins; sisters, Mafery Smith, Edith Adkins, Patsy Hardin, and Ruth Hardin.

3450 Glen O. Tester, 69, Hampton, TN went home to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Carter County and was the son of the late Ben and Lillie Baird Tester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Estes Tester. Mr. Tester was a teacher at Cloudland High School for over forty-four years where he taught chemistry and physics. During his time teaching he was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award, Outstanding Teachers Awards and the Crystal Apple Award. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he served the church as a deacon and as the custodian. His favorite things in life were teaching school and working for his church. Mr. Tester is survived by his wife, Velma Tester, of the home; a son, Scotty Tester and his wife, Amanda, Hampton; two grandchildren, Marissa Marie Tester, Mark Scott Tester; a brother, Richard Tester and his wife, Betty; a sister-in-law, Glenda Ranshaw and her husband, Doug; three nieces, Tiffany Arnett, Amy Lowe, Amanda Blair and a nephew, Travis Ranshaw. Several great-nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Tester will be conducted on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 8:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Dr. Danny Bright, Rev. Mickey Beal and Rev. Danny Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dr. Danny Bright. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday prior to the service and at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard Winters, Dan Winters, Randy Birchfield, Michael Miller, Steve Branton, Smith Davenport, Kenneth Rainbolt and Doug Ranshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Union Baptist Church, Ralph Yates, Harvey Presnell and Jerry Edminsten. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 9:50 AM.
