2701 ELIZABETHTON - Wanda Lou Ward Sparks, 81, Elizabethton, passed away, peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Honard & Mary Sue Patton Ward. Mrs. Sparks was a graduate of Happy Valley High School, and East Tennessee State College. She taught at T.A. Dugger Junior High School for 28 years where she was the Home Economics Teacher. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Her Hobbies were her family, scrap booking, sewing, and working in her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Carol Bradley and a brother: Ralph Ward.

Survivors include the light of her life, husband of 57 years: Charles Sparks. Three Daughters: Regina Gouge, Leanna Morgan and Dara Murray & husband Glenn, all of Elizabethton. Her very special granddaughter: Brianne Lyons & husband David, Johnson City. Her sister: Betty Shelnutt, Daytona Beach, Florida, her brother: Raymond Ward & wife Pam, Elizabethton, and many nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with The Rev. Darrin Smith officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Patton-Simmons Cemetery. Music will be provided by Jamie Schaff. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Amedisys Hospice and her care givers: Kevin Whitehead and Carolyn Jackson.

2702 ELIZABETHTON - Wanda Louise Chesser Blevins, 86, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1935 in Johnson City to the late Monte & Mae Sheets Chesser. She was a homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt and work with crafts. Mrs. Blevins was a member of First Baptist Church but attended Valley Forge United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Blevins who passed away July 19, 2008, by two brothers: Alfred & Harold Chesser and a sister, Mary Benfield.

Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law: Carter & Terri Blevins and C.J. & Leslie Blevins all of Elizabethton. A daughter: Christine Hardin, Johnson City. Four Grandchildren: Sarah Putland & husband Steve, Abigail Blevins, Brock Morell and Tatum Morell. Her Sisters: Eunice Hicks and Peggy Hicks both of Jonesborough, a brother: MD Chesser, Elizabethton. Her special friends: Shirley Fender, Dorothy Little, Hester Layne, Barbara Anthony and Ruth Barnett.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

2703 ELIZABETHTON - Wayne Clinton Shoun, 72, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Hubert Clinton Shoun & Wenonah Proffitt Williams. He was a 1963 graduate of Unaka High School. He retired after 22 years of service as a chemical Technician with Great Lakes Research Corporation. Wayne was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to fish Golf and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father: Clifton Williams, several aunts & uncles.

Survivors include his children: Tracey Shoun and Ryan Shoun & wife Jennifer, all of Elizabethton. Two Grandchildren: Sadie Mae and Gavin Wayne Shoun. His brother & sister-in-law: Eddie & Della Shoun, Elizabethton. Two Nieces: Laura & Stephen Coleman and Madison and Joy Shoun & Kennedy His step-mother: Wilma Shoun. Two Aunts: Ada Nave and Barbara Blevins. His very special friends: Burless Campbell, Rick Church and Larry Greer.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Solid Rock Trio. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday will be: Thomas "Woody" Martin, Steve Lowe, Rick Church, Larry Greer, Bobby McGee and Hugh Buckles. 2704 ELIZABETHTON - William "Bill" Russell Roberson, age 71, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on his birthday, Saturday, May 28, 2016, from the Hillview Health Care Center of Elizabethton, following an extended illness.

He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Floyd Charles Roberson and Margaret Virginia (Dye) Roberson. He was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. He was a carpenter and a dedicated caregiver to his mother and father until their death. He was also an avid outdoorsman.

Other than his mother and father, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Elbert Roberson.

Bill leaves behind to cherish his memories, two brothers, Kermit C. Roberson and wife Reba, of Jonesborough and Floyd Walker Roberson and wife Diane, of Elizabethton; three sisters, Joyce Loving, of Jonesborough, Jeanette Fitzwater and husband Jim, of Morristown, and Wilma Lyons and husband Jerry, of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. William "Bill" Russell Roberson will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 30, 2016, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with his brother, Pastor Floyd W. Roberson and his brother-in-law, Jerry Lyons, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday; or at the residence of his sister, Wilma Lyons, at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Luther Norris, Jim Sams and Bill's nephews.

2705 ELIZABETHTON - William "Bill" Zane Peters, age 85, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Bill was born in Hampton, Tennessee to the late Mike and Texie Calhoun Peters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Peters; and two sisters, Louise Hazlewood and Gail White; his second wife, Peggy Smith Peters; and his dog and companion, "Pandora".

Bill had worked as a pipefitter and was both a United States Army veteran and a United States Navy veteran. He was of the Protestant faith and attended Prayer Tabernacle, where he served as a deacon. Bill enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, shooting muzzleloaders, riding horses and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles sports fan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty three years, Mary Tyree Peters, of the home; six children, Billy Manwaring and wife Carmen, of Dallas, TX, Kitty Moore and husband Ralph, of Elizabethton, Gregory Zane Peters, of Elizabethton, TN, Charles "Cowboy" Webb, of Johnson City, TN, Wendy Webb Avery, of Johnson City, TN, and Jeremy Daniel Peters, of the home; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Zane, Julia, Stephanie, T.J., Kristi, Tamrah and Rylan; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, George "Buster" Peters and wife Nancy, of Deer Park, NY and Steve Peters and wife Sherrie, of Jonesborough, TN; and one sister, Carolyn Magnuson and husband Terry, of Mishawaka, IN.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of William "Bill" Zane Peters will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Johnny Hilton and Pastor Mack Presnell, officiating. Music will be provided by Ralph Moore, soloist. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday, or at the residence at other times.

The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Garcia, Shawn Rivers, Joe Currington, Jim Kiser, Smokey Boling and Darrell Wagner.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the emergency room staff at Johnson City Medical Center and also to the strangers who helped at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Johnson City.

2706 ELIZABETHTON - William (David) Bartz, 68, Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 8, 2021 at the residence of his sister: Deborah in Stephenson, Michigan after a lengthy illness. Dave was born March 21, 1953 in Elizabethton. He worked as a truck driver and factory worker before joining the National Guard where he obtained his GED. He obtained the rank of E-4 and served in Operation Dessert Shield and Dessert Storm. He enjoyed going to the Casino, Bowling and spending time with the family on the boat. He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and June February Bartz, his wife of 23 years: Billie Christine Smith Bartz, his brother: Charles Hyatt, sisters: Gail Campbell and Carol Staples as well as niece Lori Adams and nephews Stacy Adams and Steve Hyatt.
He is survived by his son: Charles Daniel Bartz, Step-Daughter: Regina (Brad) Shepherd, Grandsons: Danny Bartz, Josh Bartz, Conner Bartz and Luke Shepherd, Brother: Bobby Joe (Glenda) Hyatt and Sister: Deborah (David) Carlson. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Mountain Home National Cemetery (New Section) 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home. 2707 ELIZABETHTON - William C. "Wimpy" Hampton Sr., age 91, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 01, 2018, at the Mountain Home V.A. Hospital.

Wimpy was born in Elizabethton to the late James and Daisy Mae Headrick Hampton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Shortt Hampton; two brothers, Preston Hampton and Lester Hampton; one sister, Mozella Orr.

Wimpy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to many. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church where he served as an Elder. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Navy who proudly served his country in World War Two. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hampton, #750. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and playing golf. He will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Vickie Mottern and her husband Joe, of Elizabethton; two sons, William C. "Wimpy" Hampton Jr. and his wife Kim, of Elizabethton, Kevin Sam Hampton and his wife Kristen, of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Nikki Robertson, Anthony Payne, Maleah Hampton, Emilia Halstead, Chelsea Hampton, Abigail Hampton, Joey Mottern, Faith Mottern; eight great grandchildren, Sydney Robertson, Sierra Robertson, Miah Collins, Wesley Martin III, Kaytie Mottern, Joseph Mottern, Ben Jimenez and Ashely Jimenez.

2708 ELIZABETHTON - William Charles LaPorte, "Dude", went to be with the Lord on Dec. 23, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Elizabethton, TN. He was just shy of his 90th birthday.

He was born in Carter County on January 13, 1930. He served in the National Guard US Infantry as a Corporal from 1950-1952 and fought in the Korean Conflict. He received his Bachelor of Science in 1956 from East Tennessee State College.

Early in his career, he was the bookkeeper for Presnell Motors and was the manager for Lakeshore Restaurant and Cabins for several years. In 1962, Dude decided to be his own boss and started LaPorte Construction and became a well-known residential and commercial contractor. Around 1984, Dude decided to spend his life traveling and retired, leaving his construction company to his oldest son, Charles LaPorte, who continues to this day.

Dude was known as a true Carter Countian being born, raised and spending his entire life in the area. He was known not only as a jokester, but also for his love and generosity for Carter County. He generously donated his time and money for many years for Habitat for Humanity.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Minnie Lee Combs LaPorte and his siblings, Tony, Sarah, Joe and Frank. And his niece, Leslie LaPorte Westberry and his nephew, Lee Frank LaPorte

He is survived by his wife, Helen Darlene LaPorte, his four children, Charles LaPorte (Cheryl Tupper), Kazel Lee Carbone (David), Mark LaPorte (Jana) and Camille Liebbe (Jerry). His six nephews which include, Sam, Chris, Steve, Joe Jr. LaPorte, Anthony and Greer. As well as his twelve grandchildren and soon to be great-grandchild.

A memorial service to honor the life of Charles "Dude" LaPorte will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, December 27, 2019 in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton with Rev. Raymond Amos and Rev. Estel Williams officiating. The family will greet friends and share memories with those in attendance at the end of the service. Music will be the under the direction of David Arney, organist, Loretta Bowers, soloist and Bob Carroll soloist.

Private inurnment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

2709 ELIZABETHTON - Willie Nave, age 90 of Elizabethton, TN went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 2, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late Croy and Virgie Nave. Willie was the last remaining of his siblings. He was employed at H.T. Hackney Company for 65 years. He was very hardworking, generous and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Willie was very dependable and well respected. He was a member of Eastside Freewill Baptist Church for 40 years. During various portions of that time he held the responsibility of Treasurer, Youth Director and Choir Director. He also held these responsibilities at East Fairview Freewill Baptist Church earlier in life.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tina Hyder; step-granddaughter, Sharon Griffith Compton; son-in-law, Larry Shorter; and grandson, Curtis Blaine Hyder, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 73 years, Ruth Nave, of the home; son, Gary Nave (Mary), of Las Vegas; daughters, Pat Shorter and Patricia Bradford (Billy), both of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Heather Bradford Merritt and Michael Nave; great-grandchildren, Emily Merritt and Austin Hyder; five step-granddaughters, Sandy, Susan, Nikki, Summer and Lindsey and several step great-grandchildren.

2710 ELIZABETHTON - Wilma J. Clemons Honeycutt, age 87, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at her residence. Wilma was born in Carter County, a daughter of the late Elbert and Okie Bowers Clemons. In addition to her parents, Wilma was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Honeycutt; and a grandson, Jesse Williams.
Wilma retired as a registered nurse and was true lady full of grace and beauty. Wilma was member of Hunter Memorial years ago but was a current long time member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. She loved to sing in the choir and sing at nursing homes- as a member of J.C. and friends. Wilma enjoyed crocheting, reading, word searches and loved laughing and enjoying her family.
Those left to cherish Wilma’s many wonderful memories include her sons, Stephen (Mary) Honeycutt and Andrew (Melanie) Honeycutt; her daughter, Rachel Williams; her grandchildren, Nicole (Kurt) Walker, Amanda (Kelly) Cain, Joshua (Allison) Honeycutt, Alyssa (Billy) Douthitt, Tasha (David) Wright, Drew Honeycutt and Nora Honeycutt; her great grandchildren, Jaylee, Jordan, Jett, Holden, Colin, Juliette, Exa, Hunter, Abby, Lucas, Leon and one grandchild on the way; one brother, Roger (Hazel) Clemons; and a sister, Brenda Smith.

2711 ELIZABETHTON - Wilma P. Lowe Williams, 81 years old, Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at home. She was the daughter of Steve and Belle Grindstaff Lowe. Wilma retired from Iodent Chemical Company. She was a faithful member of Unaka Baptist Church, Elizabethton and the Red Hat Ladies Sunday School Class and a member of the choir. She enjoyed gardening and making apple butter with Joe and breaking beans on the carport with the family. On Sundays, you would find her cooking for her family. Everyone knew Wilma enjoyed having her dessert first. Wilma’s homemade vegetable soup was famous for helping others feel better. Her potato salad and egg salad sandwiches could be found at any church function. Wilma’s servant heart and sweet smile will be missed by all. Nana loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, even if it meant “washing their mouth out with soap” or “switching their behinds”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe in December 2020, brothers: Clarence, Landon, Carl, Junior, Charlie and Sister, Myrtle Estep.
She is survived by her children: Kane (Geri), and Melissa Elsea (Tim), Grandchildren: Dana Potter (Brad), Kayleigh Gouge (Ryan) and Kameron Elsea (Hannah). Great Grandchild, McKenna Gouge – whom she adored. Siblings: Mary Cole, Jemema Ensor, Lonnie Lowe. Many nieces and nephews and her two best friends, Barb Grindstaff and Kate Rodgers.
A service to celebrate the life of Wilma Williams will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson & Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park following the service. Music will be provided by Diane Roberson, Pianist and Christina Lewis, Soloist.

2712 ELIZABETHTON -- Clarence Earl Garrison, 78, 1628 Central Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 1995, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was a Carter County native and a son of the late W.C. and Bessie Headrick Garrison.
Mr. Garrison was a former employee of Elizabethton Steam Laundry and Freeman Taylor Laundry. He retired from Tennessee Chair Co.
He was a member of east Side Christian Church.
Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Garrison; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Richardson, Elizabethton; one brother, Cale Garrison, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson, Brandon Derr, Elizabeththon; and several nieces and nephews.

2713 ELIZABETHTON -- Dora Rena Carr, 99, of Route 3, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1996, in Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
She was a native of Carter County and was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church. She was the widow of Canie Carr.
Survivors include two sons, J. C. Carr and Ray Carr, both of Bluff City; nine daughters, Mrs. John (Gladys) Ward, Watauga, Mrs. Orville (Edith) Richards, Bluff City, Zula Carter, Beulah Buckles, Wanda Minton, Evelyn McDuffie, Ann Dula and Mrs. Robert (Ollie) Bradley, all of Elizabethton, and Lucille Brooks, Bluff City; two sisters, Ida Morris and Ollie Massingell, both of Watauga; one brother, Rudy Shipley, Watauga; 45 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

2714 ELIZABETHTON -- S.E. "Gene" McLaughlin, 81, 1628 Central Ave, formerly of Unicoi, died Thursday afternoon in the Carter County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mr. McLaulghlin was employed with the Unicoi Highway Department for 40 years retiring in 1967.He was also a member of the Unicoi Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife, Rachel Linville McLaughlin, Johnson City; one son, Roy McLaughlin, Johnson City; four daughters, Mrs. Violet Garrison, Elizabethton, Mrs. Jewell Stewart, Johnson City, Mrs. Opal Bennett, Jonesborough, and Mrs. Charlene Church, Unicoi; one brother, Clinton McLaughlin, Unicoi; one sister, Mary Horton, Unicoi; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

2715 ELIZABETHTON -James Bradley (JB) Shepherd, age 89, of Elizabethton, TN went to be with his Lord surrounded by his family on July 27, 2021. JB was born in Carter County on January 25, 1932 to the late Carl Newton Shepherd and the late Ocea Lea Shell Shepherd.

JB graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1950, where he lettered in basketball. He then graduated from Milligan College in 1954 with a BA in Business Administration. He spent two years in the U.S. Army, 18 months of which were in the Army Attaché Office at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. He worked for Monsanto Chemical Company from 1957 to 1965 located in Pensacola, Florida; Greenwood, South Carolina; and Etowah, Tennessee. From 1965 to 1978 he worked at Beaunit (formerly North American Rayon Corporation) where he was a member of management. In 1978 he became the President and part owner of Builders Supply Company in Elizabethton and Mountain City. He was the President of Alliance for Business and Training (AB&T). He was appointed as a member of The Private Industry Council (PIC) in 1983 and served as the Director until he retired in 2008. He also worked with Randall Birchfield Real Estate and Auction as a realtor and worked at a funeral home.

JB served on the Elizabethton City Council and was elected as the Mayor of Elizabethton from 1977 to 1981 and was the chairman of the First Tennessee-Virginia Development District. He was made Honorary Sergeant at Arms in the Tennessee Senate in 1978. JB was also recognized by the VFW Post 2166 in 1978 as the Outstanding Male Citizen of the Year for his outstanding contributions to Carter County. JB was a charter member of the Jericho Temple Shrine and Watauga Lodge 622 F & M (York Rite and Scottish Rite). He was a member and former President of the Lions Club. JB was a member of the Rotary Club and also served as the President of the Etowah Rotary Club.

JB was a longtime member of West Side Christian Church where he loved to sing in the choir. JB also enjoyed playing cards at the Elizabethton Fire Stations.

He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Dorothea Dean Kyte Shepherd and his siblings, Carl Newton Shepherd, Jr., and Glenola Frances (Sissie) Shepherd Mottern.

Survivors include his wife, Nan L. Shepherd, his four children: Janie Shepherd Harding (Daniel), Tracey Lee Shepherd Clock (Bob), Steven Daniel Shepherd (Tamra) and Nathan Bradley Shepherd (Regina), six grandchildren, Lindsey Jane Stagner (Harley), Daniel Lee (Bo) Harding ), Kathryn Dean (Katie) Barton (Mark), Ryan Andrew Clock (Sarah), JonWyatt Shepherd and Nathanial Luke Shepherd, and eight great grandchildren: Olivia Knapp, Lila Belle Harding, Bodhi Barton, River Dean Harding, Ocie Barton, Alice Clock, Theodore Clock, and West Harding, and his sister, Mary Lynn Phillips. In addition many several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Greg Key, Minister officiating. Music will be provided by Scott Reynolds and Ryan Eggers. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021 in the Mausoleum of Faith, Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Daniel Stacy "D.S." Wallace, 85, 300 S. Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, died
Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at his residence.

A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Daniel S. and Mary
Alice Stout Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his wife, Effie N. Wallace, May 4, 2005.

Mr. Wallace had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. He was a retired
employee of Allied Sheet & Metal, Johnson City, and was also a farmer. He was
of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Wallace served in the United States Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sherry Wallace,
of the home, and Carl and Iris Wallace of Roan Mountain; a daughter and son-in-
law, Rebecca and Brian Harrison of Elizabethton; his stepchildren, Betty
Taylor, Pam Pierce and Jeff Pierce, all of Elizabethton, and Pat Winters of
Spring City, Tenn.; a sister, Pearl Wallace of Florida; a special sister-in-
law, Geneva Scott of Washington; his grandchildren, Michael Harrison, Greg
Wallace, Stacey Wallace, Amanda Metros, Katie Wallace, Matt Winters, Jennifer
Winters, Amanda Worley, Kacei Pierce, Gary, Kathy, Carol, Shannon and Angie
Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Alexis Wallace, McKenzie Wallace, Natalie

Mrs. Ladora Meredith, age 67, succumbed to a short illness this morning at 8 o'clock in St. Elizabeth hospital where she was a patient for the past week.
Mrs. Meredith, daughter of Marion and Martha Hyder of the Gap Creek section and a member of a prominent pioneer family of Carter county, was the widow of Jim Meredith who preceded her in death a number of years ago. She was an active member of the Methodist church of Gap Creek.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Rex Slagle of Elizbethton, Mrs. J. C. Bergandine of Decauter, Illinois, Mrs. Eunice Myers of Roanake, Va., & Mrs. Aaron Sams of Milligan: three sons, Milburn, Fred & Robert Meredith of Gap Creek: one sister, Miss Beulah Hyder of Decauter, Illinois: two brothers, R. D. Hyder or Elizabethton, & Dr. H. P. Hyder of Washington, D.C.: ten grandchildren & four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Gap Creek Christian church, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. John Hall, assisted by Re. J. J. Musick in charge. Thomas R. Bradshaw, 93, formerly of 500 West Mill Street, Elizabethton,
died Friday, August 18, 2006, at Hermitage Health Center after an extended
illness.

Mr. Bradshaw was a native of Carter County and the son of the late William
and Madge Deloach Bradshaw.

Mr. Bradshaw attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton. He
was an employee of North American Rayon Corporation for over 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Berdie
Barnett Bradshaw, February 3, 1984. He was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Charlotte Bradshaw White; a grandson, Stephen Rasnick; four sisters,
Laura Noel, Rachel Bradshaw, Ina Maude Bradshaw and Grace Katherine Campbell;
three brothers, George Elbert Bradshaw, John Ed Bradshaw and James Bradshaw;
and two sons-in-law, Howell Rasnick and Lewis White.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy Rasnick,
Watauga, and Rita and Tim Holtsclaw, Hampton, and a son and daughter-in-law,
James "Sam" and Jeannette Bradshaw, Elizabethton. Eight grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and

The funeral service for Mr. Bradshaw will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday,
August 20, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Nick

Guerney T Pierce
Guerney Thomas Pierce, 72, 233 Berry Hill Road, Elizabethton, went up to live in Heaven on Thursday morning, February 4, 2010, at his residence.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Armstrong B. and Donna Grace Smith Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was a 1956 graduate of Unaka High School and a retired Lab Technician at North American Rayon Corporation after 33 years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962.

Mr. Pierce was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and served as caretaker at the Caldwell Springs Cemetery for several years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Grindstaff, and a brother, James O. Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Buckles Pierce; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randy Wilson, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Paula Pierce, Afton, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Emma Grace Wilson and J.T. Pierce; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and John Williams, Elizabethton, and Patsy and Ronnie Stout, Gray; four brothers and four sisters-inlaw, Ron Pierce, Hampton, Lawrence and Pauletta Pierce, Dean and Loretta Pierce, Dallas and Carolyn Pierce and Wanda Pierce, all of Elizabethton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rev. James A. Markland

Rev. James Allen Markland, 72, 1820 E. Myrtle Avenue, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

A native of Carter County, he had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Melvin and Jennie Nidiffer Markland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Keith Markland, and a brother, Melvin Markland Jr. Rev. Markland was a member of the Freewill Baptist faith and had been a minister of the gospel for over 30 years. His last pastorate position was at True Faith Chapel in Elizabethton. He had also been a member of the Joyland Singers Quartet.

Rev. Markland had served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was also well known as Sky Hawk on the CB Radio; also known as Jim Allen on various radio stations. He had also worked at Empire Furniture and Trailways Bus Lines and had retired from City of Johnson City Transit System. Survivors include his wife, Ruby McKinney Markland; a stepdaughter, Debbie Thomas of Johnson City; a son, Lanny Markland of Johnson City; three daughters, Sherry Ann Lowe and Robin Bowers, both of Elizabethton, and Nancy Greer of Roan Mountain; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a special grandson, Randy Thomas, who made his home with Papaw and Mamaw; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. J. A. Campbell died at her home Butler, Route 2, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. after a short illness. Mrs. Campbell was a native of Carter County, and member of the Campbells Chapel Christian Church at Fish Springs. Survivors are her husband, J. A. Campbell; two sons, Earl and Bruce; two brothers, Bill Campbell, George Campbell, Butler; three sisters, Mrs. Jane Bailey, Lebanon, Mo., Mrs. Lona Trivett, Mrs. Della Duvall, Butler; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from Little Milligan Church with the Rev. W. W. Ward officiating. Burial was made in Campbell Cemetery. J. H. Williams, 91, Succumbs To Complications Of Old Age
J. H. Williams, 91, one of the oldest and most prominent residents of Carter County, died at his home on Blue Spring Branch this morning at ten o'clock of complications.
A former Carter County teacher, Mr. Williams received his education at what is now known as Milligan College and was a classmate of Alf, Bob and Hugh Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of the county, and led an active live until the past few years. For a number of years he served as a member of the board of education.
He was the son of Capt. A. C. Williams of 13th Tennessee Infantry. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Hunter for the past fifty years.
Survivors are two sons, A. C. and T. B. Williams; two daughters, Mrs. Red Nave of Siam and Mrs. Ethel Salyer of Knoxville; three brothers, D. C., Levi and R. J. Williams; also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will probably be held Saturday afternoon from the home. Interment will be in the Buckles Cemetery.

Mr. Lambert was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Arthur Isaac and Ethel Dugger Lambert. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Scott Lambert, Fred Lambert, Roscoe Lambert, Edward "Booge" Lambert, Roy Lambert and Dewey Lambert; a sister, Ethel Clawson; an infant sister, Mary Lambert; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ruth Greene Oliver.
Mr. Lambert was the former owner and operator of L & S Produce, Boone, N.C., and Linville, N.C. He was a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ.

She was born in Mountain City, Tenn., to the late Herbert Cross and Flora Olive Hall Church. She had lived in Carter County for several years.

Ethel impacted the loves of many people by her respectful nature and was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Tolley was a member of the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Matthew Tolley; and children, Norma Jean Cox, Emma Dean Tolley and Terry A. Tolley.

She is survived by three Daughters: Barbara J. Gould and husband, Bob, of Elizabethton, Teresa A. Tolley, of Johnson City, and Jacqueline R. Birchfield and husband, Donald, of Bluff City; One Sister: Cledith Perkins and husband, Ed, of Mountain City; Two Brothers: A.G. Church and wife, Joyce, of Johnson City, and Walter R. 2737 ELIZABETHTON – At the age of 99, Edith Clark Forbes peacefully went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Hermitage Health Care Center, Elizabethton.

She was born February 25, 1920 and was the daughter of the late J. Frank and Maggie Treadway Clark. Edith was a wonderful, loving mother and devoted grandmother, and dearly loved her extended family. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and making crafts. Anyone who had a meal around her table was blessed by her excellent skill as a cook. She was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor. Edith was the oldest member of Hopwood Memorial Christian Church, where she was active for many years. She loved attending the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center, where she had many friends. Edith participated in the Pinecrest Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed their activities.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Forbes was preceded in death by her husband W. T. "Bill" Forbes; brothers, Ray, Ralph and John Clark, sisters, Alta Smith, Dorothy Webb and Helen Lewis. She is survived by a son, Larry W. Forbes and his wife, Carla; a grandson, Brandon W. Forbes and his wife, Sarah and a granddaughter, Laura Forbes Allman and her husband, John; a sister-in-law, Alma Tester Clark and a brother-in-law, George W. Lewis.

2739 ELIZABETHTON – Mrs. Loretta A. Miller,100, formerly of 314 Lincoln Drive, Elizabethton, passed safely into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late Rufus and Mollie McQueen Cress and was born in Johnson County, TN. She had also lived Indiana.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lattie Miller, on January 25, 1983; five sisters, Ruby Wenzel, Jean Wenzel, Sally Jones, Winnie Ornduff, Floy Daily and two brothers, Blake Cress and James Cress.

Mrs. Miller was the oldest living member of Hunter First Baptist Church and was a former employee of Elizabethton Hosiery, Bemberg and she retired from U.S. Steel. She loved to crochet, embroider and especially to read her Bible.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth C. and Mary June Miller, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Pamela Miller, Johnson City, Michael Miller and his wife, Tammy, Elizabethton, Susan Gibson and her husband, Don, Donna Taylor and her husband, Sam, Julie Beale and her husband, Sam, all of Johnson City; six great-grandchildren; and a favorite nephew whom she fostered when he was a child, Nolan Miller, IN. Many other loving nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be conducted for Mrs. Miller on Friday, February 19, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Sherrel Nave and Rev. Grant Whittenbarger officiating. She was born April 5, 1928 on Buck Mountain to the late Clarence H. Jones and Agnus Banner Jones. Bernice had a passion and talent for cooking, canning and sewing. She loved her family dearly and was the ultimate example of kindness and patience, always serving others.

She was a long time member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late David & Bertha Rambo Greer. She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was a homemaker. Beulah was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Proffitt; her second husband, Geroge Carr; and son, Jackie Bruce Proffitt.

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Jean Lowe, Mountain City, Judy Brockwell and husband Donald, and Nancy Matherly and husband Harold, all of Elizabethton; one son, Jerry Proffitt, Elizabethton; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Greer, Norfolk, VA; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Greer and Selma Morgan; one brother-in-law, A.B. 2742 ELIZABETHTON – Mr. Ivan E. Morley, 90, 1266 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at his residence.

He was the son of the late W.B. and Cassie Lowe Morley and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vanetia Elliott Morley; and his second wife, Yvonne Garland Morley.

Mr. Morley was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Unaka Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was a former employee of Sears, Raytheon and Bonanza Steak House and was a lifetime farmer.

Mr. Morley is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, J.B. and Ava Nell Morley, Elizabethton, Dale and Beverly Morley, Johnson City; four grandsons, James Morley and his wife, Janet, Todd Morley and his wife, Regina, Terry Morley, all of Elizabethton; David Morley, Greeneville, TN; three great-granddaughters, Kristin Taylor and her husband, Jacob, South Carolina; Jamie Morley, Elizabethton; Kasey Morley, Bristol; three great-grandsons, Tristan Morley, Jacob Morley and Ivan Morley, all of Elizabethton. 2743 ELIZABETHTON – John William McKeehan, Jr., age 70, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at his residence after a brief but intense battle with cancer.

John was a lifetime resident of Elizabethton. He was born on March 4, 1952 to the late John William McKeehan, Sr. and Laura Elizabeth Rowe McKeehan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rada and three brothers, Louis, Ted and Terry.

John joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1976, serving 8 years as an infantryman. He then joined the Tennessee Army National Guard and served another 27 years, where he retired as Sergeant First Class. In the guard he served as both a mechanic and Mess Sergeant. Serving throughout Operations Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom, he was twice deployed to Iraq and once stateside, along with countless other voluntary missions.

John touched many lives during his long military and professional driving career, leaving his unique and distinctive mark on all those he met. A man who could drive anything with wheels, he surely logged millions of miles in his lifetime. He had a work ethic beyond compare. John has worked for Kenan Advantage Group for the past 7 years, hauling hazmat tankers. The family would like to express a special thanks to all John’s friends and colleagues for their kindness during this challenging time.

John loved to be outside, whether it be farming, gardening, logging, driving or just a good ole fashioned bonfire. He was an avid collector his whole life, leaving behind a vast accumulation of assorted treasures for his family to discover.

Those left to cherish and honor his legacy include his loving wife of 25 years, Leigh Chambers McKeehan, who was by his side to the end; his sons, John III (Lori), David, Eric and Chris (Kurt); grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Cody), Dylan and Waylon; great grandchild, William Brody; his sister, Linnie (Frank); and his brothers, Charlie (Cherryann), Tony (Jane), Bud (Loretta) and Jackie (Kim). Many other nephews, nieces and cousins of McKeehan Ridge and surrounding areas, many army and trucking buddies and his special canine companion, Lacy.

She was born to the late Lloyd and Estalee Carden on September 22, 1946. Margaret was the eldest of four children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Margaret treated every child that came into her life as one of her own. She loved having a house full of kids. Margaret always said when the kids were there, she knew they were safe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Carden, Jr. and daughter, Carrie Ann Campbell. 2745 ELIZABETHTON – Ruth Irene Massengill Hendrix Wagner, age 92, 1633 Hillview Drive, Elizabethton, formerly of Bluff City, died Monday, December 11, 2006 at Hermitage Health Center.

A native of Bluff City, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Plank Massengill. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Bluff City First Christian Church and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cody Hendrix and second husband, C.J. Wagner, two sisters, Margaret Rudder and Mable Cain, and one son, George Hendrix. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Holsclaw, Johnson City, three sisters, Georgie Warren, Bluff City, Edith Quinn, Knoxville, and Betty Ann Morrell, Bluff City. Six grandchildren, Tammy Holsclaw Jones, John Holsclaw, Kim Buckner, Jan Mobly Hendrix, Melony Hendrix; Steven Hendrix; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wagner will be held at 8:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the Tetrick Funeral Home — Bluff City Chapel with minister Roby Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 — 8:30 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service in the Chapel or at the home of her daughter, Donna, anytime. The graveside service will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Morrell Cemetery, Bluff City. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:15 A.M. Active pallbearers will be Brian Buckner, Randy Jones, Timothy Davis, Eric Taylor, Jerry Morrell and Willie Holsclaw.

2747 ELIZABETHTON — Edith Elizondo, 82, of 157 Mayfield Drive, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.

Edith was born in Carter County to the late Herman and Fina Stout Grindstaff. She later moved to Alton, Illinois, where she lived most of her life before returning to Elizabethton. In Alton, she retired from the Owens Glass Company after 30 years of faithful service. Edith was a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church and was a Gold Star Mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Elizondo, and her only son, Frederick Herman "Freddie" Elizondo.

She is survived by two sisters, Edna D'Andelet and Zola Shankle, both of Elizabethton, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service for Edith Elizondo will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Richard Estep and Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Janice Estep, soloist. The family will receive friends Tuesday from Noon to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service or at her residence, 157 Mayfield Drive, other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2008, in the Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Edwardsville, Illinois. Active pallbearers are Michael Amtsberg, Richard Yankosky, Matthew Yankosky, Robert Eichers, Dan Wilkins, Maynard Peters, Henry White, and Ernest Grindstaff.

2748 ELIZABETHTON — It is with God's peace that we announce the soul of Ralph Howard Fletcher, 86, of Elizabethton, went to join his Lord on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, with his family by his side.

Mr. Fletcher was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Andrew J. and Mary Nave Fletcher. In addition to his parents, Ralph has now joined his three brothers and two sisters in heaven.

He was a 1942 graduate of Unaka High School, worked for 23 years and retired from ITT Corporation.

Ralph was known for his faithfulness and the loyalty he gave not only to his family but also extended to his friends and business associates.

Mr. Fletcher belonged to the following organizations: Member and Past Master of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #622, Past High Priest of R.D. Keller Chapter #214, Past Illustrious Master of B.E. Wooten Council #119 and Carter Commandery #37, Charter Member of Jericho Shrine Temple, 32nd Degree of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Knoxville, Past President of Upper East Tennessee York Rite Association, Illustrious Grand Master of Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Tennessee, Member of Knight Cross of Honor, received Order of the Purple Cross, Member and Past Worthy Patron of Sycamore Chapter #163 Order of Eastern Star and member of Grand Chapter of Tennessee Order of Eastern Star, Member and Past Governor of North East Tennessee York Rite College #153, Member Red Cross of Constantine and The Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest.

He was also a member and former Deacon of Oak Street Baptist Church.

Ralph leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia Davis Fletcher; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Joe Reed, one granddaughter, Dena Michelle Richardson, all of Daytona Beach, Florida; two special nieces and caretakers, Angela Richardson and Diana Wright, both of Elizabethton. Several other nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating.

Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Roscoe Peters, Carroll Mick, Foye Manning, Frank Richardson, Franklin Wright, Dylan Wright, Thomas Tester and Will Andrews. Honorary Pallbearers will be His Nieces & Nephews, His Church Family and all the Masonic Bodies. Masonic Honors will be provided by Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238.

2749 ELIZABETHTON — Mr. Eugene F. (Jack) Buckles, formerly of 159 Buckles Road, Elizabethton, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.

He was born on December 13, 1921, to the late Frank and Emma Buckles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Juanita G. Buckles; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pearl and Luther Buckles and Effie and Carmack Danner; two brothers, Clay Buckles and Claude Buckles. He was a native of Carter County, TN.

Mr. Buckles was a life-long farmer in the Blue Springs Community of Carter County, he also served in the United States Army and saw combat in Europe during WWII. He was employed at North American Rayon Corporation for many years and served two terms on the Carter County Commission. He was a member of the Blue Springs Christian Church.

Mr. Buckles was fond of bluegrass music, gospel music and old time fiddle tunes. One of his favorite songs was "What a Day That Will Be" with which he often sang along. He especially enjoyed the gospel music of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.

Mr. Buckles is survived by four children: Vivian Hammonds, Wayne L. Buckles, Barbara Jean Lotshaw, all of Elizabethton, and Debbie Dotson, of Watauga; two sons-in-law, Howard Hammonds and Mark Dotson; four grandchildren, Melanie Harkleroad and husband, Tim, of Bristol, Nathan Arnold and wife, Shelley, of Norman, OK, Frank Arnold and wife, Caryn, of Tulsa, OK, Dustin Buckles and wife, Jessica, Elizabethton; five great-grandchildren, Martin and Sarah Harkleroad, Bristol, Mason, Haley and Brett Arnold, Norman, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law, H.J. and Helen Buckles, Ivan Buckles, Earl and Helen Buckles, Elizabethton, Paul and Peggy Buckles, of Mt. Carmel, TN; sisters, Margaret Garland, of Casco, MI, Edith Buckles and Myrtle Pierce, Elizabethton, Brenda and Bill Taylor, of Johnson City; sisters-in-law, Georgia Buckles, of Bristol, and Myrtle Buckles, Elizabethton; and a special brother-in-law, Harold Grindstaff, of Goode, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, including his church families and his friends at Big Red's also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Buckles will be conducted Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, and Dr. William Duncan officiating.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday prior to the service and at 1331 Blue Springs Road at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, July 16, 2010, at 10:00 AM at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Blue Springs Christian Church, the men of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, "Big Red" Carrier and the regular attendees of the Liar's Club. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

2750 ELIZABETHTON — Alma Bailey Clark Hicks, 85, Elizabethton, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Tuesday July 12, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mrs. Hicks was born in Johnson City but lived most of her life in Carter County.

She was a daughter of the late Joel McKinley and Mary May Bailey. She was a graduate of Science Hill High School and attended East Tennessee State College. Mrs. Hicks was a longtime member of East River Park Christian Church. She was employed by North American Rayon Corporation and the Carter County School System for several years. Later, she had a private day care center for ten years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, Robert F. (Bud) Clark, March 30, 1987; and her second husband, Harold A. Hicks, August 14, 2003; and by a sister, Elizabeth Bailey Ervin, of Erwin.

She was a very loving person and will be missed greatly by those who knew her.

Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law: Joel & Rita Clark, Elizabethton, and Robert & Carol Clark, Mountain City; A stepson, Patrick Hicks and wife, Connie, A stepdaughter: Rebecca Hicks and her husband, Ronnie, all of Elizabethton; A brother & sister-in-law: Edward & Charlene Bailey, Elizabethton. Several nieces, Nephews, cousins and grandchildren also survive.

The family, friends and pallbearers will assemble at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday and proceed to Happy Valley Memorial Park for a service at 2 p.m. Graveside Service will be conducted by Mr. Charles Fitzsimmons, Minister. Active Pallbearers will be: Charles Pearce, Blake Taylor, Jamie Clark, Larry Nave, Cameron Bailey and Johnny Clark. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mr. John H. Smith, Mr. Joel Stauffer, Mr. Barry Petit and church family of East River Park Christian Church, Kenneth Hartley, Tom Barkes, Phil Pearson, Dr. Robert Allen, Dr. Douglas Cole and office staff, Franklin Shoun, Clark Ervin, Lee Ervin and Lynn Ervin.

We are very grateful to the Castle Clinic Office Staff for the many years of health care of our family. We extend deep appreciation to the Mountain States Hospice Staff, Johnson City Medical Center Nursing Staff and employees for their kindness. The family was blessed with special caregivers who provided loving care to our mother during her illness.
