A holiday hunting trip for Anthony Abraham (Linkard) Lipford, age 81, one of Johnson county's most entusiastic fox hunters, and his son, Dana, yesterday ended in the tragic death of the elder LIPFORD in an automobile accident.
Mr. Lipford was struck by an automobile driven by a Butler serviceman home on leave, at 10 o'clock last Wednesday morning as he attempted to cross the Mountain City highway about one-half mile from his home.
The aged man's son said he was partly across the road, but turned back when he saw the automobile approaching. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Elizabethton, and never regained consciousness before he died as a result of a skull fracture, attending physicians said.
