ABSTRACTS OF PENSION & BOUNTY -LAND RECORDS
for service in the Rev War, War of 1812 & the Indian Wars
RILEY DELOACH, of Lowdnes Co Ga, Indian War soldier
On Nov 28, 1850, in Lowdnes co before William Patter, JP, personally
appeared RILEY DELOACH who made his declaration to obtain bounty-land
under Act of Congress passed Sept 28, 1850; that he was a private in a
company of volunteer Militia commanded by Wm. C. Newbern in the Florida
Regiment commanded by Col William Bailey, in the Indian War; that he
volunteered at Sandy Ford in FL. 9/20/1839, for 3 mos & was honorably
discharged at Fort Fanning 12/20/1839.

On April 22, 1853, Mrs DORYANN DELOACH, age 37 yrs, made her declaration
before Wm. Smith, JP in Lowndes Co Ga to obtain bounty-land under same
Act of Congress. Husband's application above apparently had never been
approved. She stated she was the widow of said RILEY DELOACH and that
they were married in Lowndes Co 3/5/1843, by Shadrach Griffin, JP and
that she was DoryAnn Mathis before marriage;that he husband died in said
county 4/3/1852. John E. Mathis & M.A. Mathis vouch for her as said
widow & for the death of said Riley. Attached is a certified copy of
the marriage license from Lowndes Co marrriage Records. She was granted
120 acres of bounty land 9/26/1856. On 9/24/1869, she made her
declaration before D.D. Mahon JP at Stockton, Clinch Co for adfditional
bounty-land and was vouched for by Wm.M. Tyler & R. DELOACH; no action
was ever taken on this application.

Riley married Dora Ann "Dory" Mathis on 5 Mar 1843. Dora (daughter of James Mathis and Rhoda Monk) was born on 17 Jan 1825 in Bulloch County, , , Georgia; died on 17 Aug 1895 in Tift County, , , Georgia; was buried in New River Cemetery, , Tift County, Georgia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. James DeLoach was born on 25 Dec 1844 in Lowndes County, , , Georgia; died on 5 Mar 1903 in Tift County, , , Georgia; was buried in New River Cemetery, , Tift County, Georgia.
3. William DeLoach was born about 1846 in Lowndes County, , , Georgia.
4. Hiram C. DeLoach was born on 1 Dec 1847 in Lowndes County, , , Georgia; died on 21 Dec 1920 in Duval County, , , Florida; was buried in Lowndes County, , , Georgia.
5. John DeLoach was born in Feb 1850 in Lowndes County, , , Georgia.

Served in the Cherokee war under Col. Richard Richardson whose men were mainly from Camden District of Craven County and some men from the western area of Williamsburg County.
