JOHNSON CITY - Floyd Hershel Buchanan, 91 Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the Waters of Johnson City.

A native of Buleadean, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Clyde & Helena Gouge Buchanan. He was Manager of Park Belks for 46 years. Mr. Buchanan was a founding member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 71 years: Geraldine Archer Buchanan.

Survivors include his children: Shelby Jean (Blaine) Shoun, Sharon McKenzie, Whitney Bowling and Susie (Jim) Muller. Two Grandchildren: Corey (Keisha) and Jeremiah (Heidi) Shoun. Three Great Grandchildren: Darcie Dosher, Lyla Shoun and Cora Shoun. A Sister: Myrtle Buchanan, Several nieces & nephews.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2019 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Walker Roberson officiating. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday will be: Hershel Bennett, Corey Shoun, Jeremiah Shoun, Blaine Shoun, Tim Archer, Chris Bowling and Nick Powers. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family.

Geraldine Archer Buchanan, 90, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late James Earl & Ollie Buena Jones Archer. Mrs. Buchanan was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening, working in her yard and working puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Collins, a brother; Rev. James Archer, Jr. and a sister, Doris Woods.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years: Floyd Hershel Buchanan. Four Children: Shelby Jean Shoun and husband Blaine, Limestone, Sharon McKenzie and Whitney Bowling and husband Chris all of Johnson City and Susie Muller & husband Jim, West Palm Beach, Florida. Two Grandchildren: Corey Shoun and wife Keisha, Jeremiah Shoun & wife Heidi. Two Great Grandchildren: Darcie Dosher and Lyla Shoun. Several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family & friends.
