Mary P. Morgan, 96, formerly of 150 W.B. Mitchell Road, Roan Mountain, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 10, 2004, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center, Roan Mountain, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Morgan was a native of Falls Mills, Va., and had lived in Roan Mountain most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Matthew Henry and Willie Swecker Alley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Morgan, in 1973, twin brothers, Claude and Clyde Alley, and two sisters, Nellie and May Alley.
Mrs. Morgan was a member of St. John Free Will Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Richard Sheppard officiating. Music will be under the direction of the J.D. Cook Family. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, in the Johnson Cemetery, Crabtree Community. Everyone is requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at other times at the home of a son, Roger Morgan, 150 W.B. Mitchell Road, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Mark Morgan, Chris Hicks, Todd Morgan, Jonathan Morgan, Jeff Morgan and Dana Young. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of St. John Free Will Baptist Church and friends.

WILLIAM MORGAN
William Morgan, 57, died at his home on Gap Creek yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Mr. Morgan who was a Spanish-American war veteran, is survived by his wife, one son, Henry Morgan; two brothers, John and James Morgan and one sister, Mrs. Mary Owens. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock, the Rev. John Coleman officiating. Interment will take place at the Lyons cemetery on Gap Creek. Nave Funeral Home in charge.
