Bobby L. Oliver, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at his residence. He was the son of the late James and Rosa Lee Dunn Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Oliver. Bobby was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Connie Cole Oliver, of the home; a daughter, Rebecca Lubag of Elizabethton; two sisters, Wanda Elkins (Joe) of Asheville, N.C., and Brenda Payne (Ray) of Weaverville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Joshua and Cassidy Lubag of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Peggy Oliver of Elizabethton; and his angel and kidney donor, Destiny Baker-Davidson, Big Stone Gap, Va.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 8, at Richardson Cemetery with Mr. Evan Wolfe and Mr. Bob Allen officiating. Music will be under the direction of Karalee Sprinkle. Active pallbearers will be Dean Buckles, Eugene Grindstaff, Joe Carrier, Kurt Johnson, Tim Cobb, Scott Elkins, Jeremiah Payne, Timothy Payne and Noah Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Arnold, Joe Elkins, Ray Payne, Dawson Grindstaff, Dwight Proffitt, Lester Perkins, Melvin Myers and the Gentlemen of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of Poplar Ridge Christian Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:20 p.m. Sunday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice and special friends, Kurt and Linda Johnson, Tim and Karen Cobb and Katie Coppola for the love and care shown to Bobby during his illness.

James married Rosa Lee Dunn about 1950 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Rosa was born on 12 Apr 1919 in Monroe County, , , Tennessee; died on 3 Apr 2014 in Buncombe County, , , North Carolina; was buried in Ensor Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

She was born in Tellico Plains, TN to the late Robert and Ethel Tate Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Oliver; a son, Raymond Oliver; and six siblings, Theodore Dunn, Robert Dunn, Herman Dunn, Franklin Pearson, Irene Dunn and Luella Pearson.

Rosa was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. While she lived in Elizabethton, she attended Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church.

James married Loretta Cassie Grindstaff about 1923 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Loretta was born on 28 Dec 1905 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died about 1986 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Ensor Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
