    JOHNSON CITY - Dr. Paul D. Renfro, 85, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center.

    Paul was born in Elizabethton to the late David and Gladys Street Renfro.

    Paul practiced Pharmacy for 50 years. He started three local businesses: Corner Drug, West Towne Pharmacy and Princeton Drug. He was a Specialist 5th Class US Army veteran, having served from 1953-1956, during the Korean conflict. Paul was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, mainly because he was named after Paul Dean, the pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals the year they won the World Series, in 1934, the day Paul was born. He was a member of The Gideons International, First District Pharmaceutical Association and Tennessee Pharmaceutical Association. He was a past member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and a present member of Grace Baptist Church, where he was a choir director for many years.

    In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by: his wife of 59 years, Helen Jean Renfro, in 2015; and one brother-in-law, Jerome Christian.

    Survivors include: two sons, Larry S. Renfro and his wife Sherri and Lee Scott Renfro and his wife Martha; four granddaughters, Hannah Moore and her husband Nick, Sarah Renfro, Megan Renfro and Alyson Renfro; two brothers, David Lee Renfro, Jr. and his wife Janice and Richard "Dickie" Renfro and his wife Sheila; two sisters, Jane Christian and Janet Grant and her husband Robert; and several nieces.

    The family would like to sincerely thank Joyce Gillette for the care she provided to Paul for the last few years.

    The family of Paul Renfro will receive friends from 11 AM until 12 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Morris-Baker. The funeral will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Hobbie McCreary officiating. Pallbearers include: Paul Rose, Neal Whitten, Nick Moore, Jacob Richards, Allen Richards, Michael Griesen, Micaiah Griesen and Dustin Miller. Honorary pallbearers include: Jim Baker, Monty Brown, Bryan Sexton, Clint Donegan, Mark Reed, Doug Long, Chester Blankenship, Bob Roller, Earl Maden and Earl Gouge. The committal service will follow at 1:30 PM. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Roselawn Memory Gardens by 1:25 PM.

    M. C. RENFRO
    M. C. Renfro, age 76, died at his home on the old Johnson City highway, Wednesday afternoon at six o'clock. Death was sudden. Mr. Renfro was a merchant. He had been located in Carter county for the past nineteen years, was a member of the Watauga Point Methodist Church. Mrs. Renfro preceded him in death three years ago.
    Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Parnell, Spruce Pine, N. C., Mrs. Cora McCurry, Johnson City, route 5, five sons, David of Johnson City, Homer of Elizabethton, R. H. of Erwin, John, of Spartanburg, S. C., Luther, Green Mt., N. C.; two brothers, Dock Renfro, and John Renfro of North Carolina, twenty grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Centenary Methodist church at Erwin, Friday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. I. G. Crowder officiating, assisted by Rev. Jay B. Osborne. Burial will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery at Erwin. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
    Active pallbearers, Herman Banner, Howard Renfro, Glenn Renfro, Robert Renfro, Charles E. Peterson, Pvt. Harvey Davis, Edd Clarke.
    The body will be returned to the home at seven o'clock this evening.

    NANCY ABIGAL RENFRO
    Mrs. Nancy Abigal Renfro, age 72, died in the St. Elizabeth hospital, Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock after an illness of a few days. Mrs. Renfro was a native of North Carolina, but has made her home in Carter county for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Methodist church.
    Survivors: her husband, M. C. Renfro, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Parnell, Spruce Pine, N. C., Mrs. Cora McCurry, Johnson City, route 5; five sons, Luther Renfro, Green Mountain, CN. C., R. H. Renfro, Erwin, John F. Renfro, Spartansburg, S. C., Homer and David Renfro, Johnson City, route 5; four brothers, R. C. Peterson, Erwin, Hiram Peterson, Chesney, S. C., James Peterson, Lenoir City, Tenn., Jus[sic] Peterson, Green Mountain, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. George Allen, Erwin, Mrs. C. C. Garland, North Carolina, and 20 grandchildren, 11 gree4at grandchildren.
    Funeral services were conducted from Central Methodist church in Erwin this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. I. G. Crowder and Rev. C. H. Williams officiating. Burial was made in Evergreen Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers: Howard Renfro, Charles Renfro, Glen Renfro, Robert Renfro, W. M. Garland, Holder Garland.
    Mrs. Renfro was returned to her home, route 5, Johnson City, Sunday afternoon from the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home.
