Jeffrey Cole Howard, 62, was born in Shady Valley, Tennessee on April 25, 1956, to Earl B. Howard, Sr. and the late Capriece Cole Howard. Jeff departed this world to be with the Lord on February 19, 2019, at his residence in Shady Valley, TN.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Capriece Howard (Nov. 10, 1927 – Dec. 22, 2010) and an infant sister, Sarah Elizabeth Howard.

Those left to cherish their memories of Jeff are his beloved son, Jeremiah Cole Howard; his father, Earl B. Howard, Sr; a brother, Earl B. 'Erby' Howard, Jr. and wife Dianna Pleasant Howard; a niece, Tuesday Howard Pope; a nephew, Joseph B. Howard and wife Ashleigh Maze Howard; two great-nephews, Gavin I. Pope and Bridon K. Pope; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Jeff was a life long resident of Johnson County and graduated from Johnson County High School in 1974. After graduation he attended Virginia Highlands Community College and National Auto & Diesel College, graduating at the top of his class. Jeff was member of Shady Valley Presbyterian Church. He had a humble kind spirit and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. In his spare time, Jeff enjoyed hands-on activities like cooking, woodworking, artistry, and working on automobiles and other machinery.

SHADY VALLEY — Capriece Howard, age 83, of 527 Hwy 91, Shady Valley, TN, passed away December 22, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Edger P. Cole and Lena Blevins Cole. She was a native of Shady Valley and a former school teacher in the Johnson County School System. She graduated from Johnson County High School in 1946 and was also a graduate of ETSU.

Capriece loved sewing, quilting, gardening and studying her Bible. She was very active in her church, Shady Valley Presbyterian. She also took part in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Cranberry Scholarship Committee in Shady Valley.

Survivors include: Husband of 63 years: Earl Howard, Shady Valley, TN; Sons and daughter in-law: Earl B. "Erby" Howard Jr. and Dianna, Shady Valley, TN; Jeffrey C. Howard, Shady Valley, TN; Brother and sister in-law: John Cole and Diane, Shady Valley, TN; Grandchildren: Tuesday Howard Pope, Joseph Howard and Cole Howard; Two Great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010, from the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church in Shady Valley, TN. Dr. Tom Peak and Rev. Jack Stevens will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. To 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2010, at Shady Valley Memorial Gardens in Shady Valley. Pallbearers will be Terry Anderson, Terry Peters, J.L. Hamby, Dick Righter, George Brown, Roger Miller and David Arnold. Honorary Pallbearers are Curtis Sluder, Dr. Peter Haibach, and George Triplett, Members of the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church, Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. and Johnson County Rescue Squad.

JACOB SNYDER
Jacob Snyder, 84, died in Grace Hospital, Banner Elk, N. C., Saturday, May 14, following a short illness.
He was a prominent farmer of Johnson County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain City.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. James H. Wilson of Shouns; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Antioch Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. A. E. Browne and Rev. Keene Roark officiating.
Burial was in the Hampton Cemetery.
