MILLARD F. MICHAELS…
… 72, Mountain City, Rte. 2, died Saturday morning, Oct. 4, following a heart attack.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Michaels; two sons, Fred of Mountain City and Cad of Ferndale, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Emmett Parsons of Mountain City; three brothers, John and Robert of Trade, Dewey of Elizabethton; three sisters, Mrs. Eula Bryant of Shouns, Mrs. Lillie Trivette of West Jefferson, N. C.; and Mrs. Alma Mundy of Hickory, N.C.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the New Hope Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Blaine Eggers, H. T. Mabry and Gerald Carlton officiating.
Burial was in Donnelly Cemetery.
Gentry Funeral Home in charge.

Millard married Sylvia Easter Strurgill about 1903 in North Carolina, , , . Sylvia (daughter of Jackson Strurgill and Naomi Miller) was born about 1885 in North Carolina, , , ; died on 30 Jun 1966 in , Avery County, North Carolina, ; was buried in Donnelly Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee. Sylvia E. Michael. . .
Sylvia E. Michael, age 80, of Mountain City, Route 2, Laurel Community, died in the Cannon Memorial Hospital Thursday at 10:55 p.m. after a short illness. She was a native of Ashe County, N.C. but had made her home in Johnson County many years. She was the widow of the late Millard F. Michael and daughter of the late Jackson and Naomi Miller Sturgill. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Michael, Mountain City and Cad Michael, Detroit, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Emmett Parson, Mountain City; one brother, M.L. Sturgill, Parker, N.C. 17 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the New Hope Baptist Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Blaine Eggers, Rev. H.T. Mabry and Rev. A.E. Brown and Rev. Ernest Rash officiating. Burial was in the Donnelly cemetery.
Palbearers[sic] were grandsons and flower bearers ladies of the church and neighbors.
Lewis Gentnry[sic] in charge.

We wish to express our gratitude to our many friends and our neighbors for their helpfulness and sympathy at the time of the death of our loved one, Mrs. Millard Michael.
The beautiful flowers, the nice food and each kind word and thoughtful act meant so very much to us in our time of sorrow.
Especially are we indebted to Rev. A.E. Brown, Rev. Blaine Eggers and Rev. Ernest Rash for their comforting ministry; also each one who assisted in any way in the services and Lewis Gentry Funeral Home.
