Mrs. Georgia Anna Williams Lewis, 93, 114 Bernie Lewis Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, November 9, 2002 in the Life Care Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Abraham B. and Loretta Rachel Frazier Williams. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie B. Lewis, July 12, 1991; by a daughter, Betty Jo Lewis, in 1933; a son, George McBernie Lewis, in 1947; by six brothers, Albert, Dewey, Lonnie, Rex, Ted and Harry Williams, and four sisters, Pearl Williams, Daisy Grindstaff, Ruby Nidiffer, and
Josie Hodges.

LIEUT. ALFRED C. WILLIAMS, CO. F.
Alfred C. Williams was a native of Stony Creek, Carter county, Tenn., and was
a true Union man. The Adjutant-General's report gives no record of his service
except that he was 2d Lieut, of Company F. We have been unable to obtain
further information from his friends or relatives.

According to our recollection he was mustered into the service on the
organization of the company September 22, 1863, but we do not know the date of
his resignation. We know that he served for a considerable time as an officer
and that he performed his duties faithfully as far as his physical ability
would permit. He was frequently off of duty on account of ill health. After
the war he returned to Carter county where he lived a respected citizen until
his death, which occurred at Elizabethton, Tenn., Aug. 28, 1900.
