Deloris R. Garrison

Dolores R. Holsclaw (Cordell), age 84, of Hammond, passed away peacefully in her home on July 16, 2017 surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Dolores was preceded in death by her son Dennis Cordell; parents, Walt and Leone McCoury; husbands: Lloyd Holsclaw and Edward Cordell. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Dolores was born on April 27, 1933 in TN. She was Valedictorian of her high school and had many fond memories of her life in TN that she liked to share. She moved to Hammond in 1950 where she worked for the Post Office for 39 years before retiring. She loved her job and talked about it often. After retirement Dolores took a job at Wal-Mart as a greeter to stay active and put a smile on peoples faces. Dolores was also an active member in T.O.P.S. for almost 40 years, where she met her best friends. Dolores was a loving mother a devoted grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed being with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Leona (daughter of Samuel Alexander Garrison and Sarah Etta Jennings) was born on 15 May 1901 in Mitchell County, , , North Carolina; died on 23 Oct 1990 in , Avery County, North Carolina, ; was buried in Garrison Family Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.
