Notes: Alvin was born to John Nave Hardin (b. 1808) and Mary Fletcher (b. 1811). He married Margaret Evaline Lewis 28 Feb 1867 at Carter, TN. They had nine children. After Evelyn's death, Alvin married Sarah Richardson. Alvin's grandson Guy Hardin said, "If it hadn't been for Sarah, the family wouldn't have survived. Sarah married Alvin, with all those kids, and raised them as her own. She deserves some honorable recognition." Alvin is buried by his first wife, Eveline Hardin, in the Forbes Cemetery. But, Sarah's burial place is unknown. Her death record says she is buried at the "Harly" cemetery. It has been guessed that she is buried in the Hurley Cemetery in Carter TN where other Richardsons are buried. Any assistance with this mystery would be appreciated. Alvin raised his family in the head of Liberty Hollow. The property is still called the Alvin Lot at the foot of Iron Mountain to this day by the coon hunters. Alvin's middle name is almost certainly Powell, as two nephews are known to be named Alvin Powell Hardin. Civil War Service: Enlistment: 9 Aug 1863, Company C, 47th KY Infantry at Perry, KY; Discharge: 26 Dec 1864 at Lexington KY. Alvin married Margaret Eveline Lewis Peters on 28 Feb 1867 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Margaret (daughter of Robert Allen Peters and Jemima (Peters)) was born about 1843 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died about 1884 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Forbes Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.
