J. A. HEATON
J. A. Heaton, age 70, died at his home on Beach street, Saturday morning after a lingering illness. Mr. Heaton, born in Doeville, was the son of William J. and Rebecca Heaton.
Funeral services will be conducted from the First Baptist church this afternoon at 2:30 with Dr. C. L. Bowden in charge.
The deceased was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He is survived by the following children, Mrs. Cora Lyons, Martha, Dencie, Celestia Heaton of this city, Earl Heaton of Myssa, Oregon, Haddon, Winford, Paul, J. Lewis and Samuel Heaton of this city; four brothers, E. S. Heaton of Somerset, Ky., William G. Heaton of Oregon, Samuel Heaton of Long Island, N. Y., Curtis Heaton of Roseburg, Oregon; one sister, Nancy Jordan Blevins of Roseburg, Oregon; also twelve grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Roy Wilcox, Robert Brumit, Edward Jordan, R. W. Nave, A. T. Bradley, John Keyes.
Those in charge of the flowers will include Anna Mae Jack, Mrs. Roscoe Collins, Jr., Frances Bradley, Ella Mae Parks, Mrs. H. R. Collins, Mrs. H. H. Patton, Stella Jones, Elizabeth Jordan, Wanda Smith, Bernice Smith.

Samuel Carter DeLoach grew up in Carter County, Tennessee. Ha and his family moved to Johnson County, TN on 1 Sep 1881. He was a farmer, a carpenter, and a Baptist minister. He was one of the first ministers at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church in Butler, Johnson County, Tennessee. He was a minister at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church near Laurel Bloomery, and took part in the construction of that Church. His Johnson County home was in Campbell Hollow, near Doeville. His daughter, Celia, her husband Johnny Heaton, and their family lived with Samuel for several years. His youngest son, Joseph Alexander, his wife Dovie C. Williams Arnold, and their family lived there at the time of his death, and they inherited the property. Samuel and his wife Louisa Garrison are buried in a small family cemetery on a hill overlooking the place where their house once stood.
