    JAMES FAIR, 15, DIES FROM INJURIES HE RECEIVED AT PLAY
    James Fair, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fair, East street, succumbed last night at six o'clock in a local hospital from injuries received Sunday afternoon while out playing.
    Young Fair, with several playmates, was sliding near the reservoir Sunday afternoon. He struck a stick, which passed through the rectum into the intestines. An emergency operation was performed on Monday.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Freewill Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Clarence Howington officiating. Interment will be in the Hyder Cemetery.
    Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Fair; three brothers, Jess Willard, John Paul, and James Robert Fair; his grandmother, Mrs. M. M. Blackburn, and grandfather, James H. Fair; also five aunts and three uncles.

    John H. Fair, died Sunday at 2 p.m. in Veterans Hospital at Roanoke, Va., after a prolonged illness.
    Survivors are, his wife Mrs. Bell Fair, and two daughters, Mrs. L. R. McDonnell and Miss Oma Fair both of San Diego, California. Five sons, Don and J. C. of Elizabethton, Bill of Baltimore, Md., Howard of Veterans Hospital, Baltimore, Md., and Harold of the U. S. Navy.
    Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Roy Hathaway Funeral Home in charge.

    Funeral services for John H. Fair will be conducted Thursday morning at 10:00 o'clock from the Post chapel at the Mountain, Johnson City. The chaplain at the Mountain Home will officiate. Burial will be made in Veterans cemetery with full military honors accorded at the grave.
    Survivors are the widow Mrs. Bell Fair; two daughters, Mrs. L. R. MacDonnell, Miss Oma Fair, San Diego, California; five sons, Van and J. C., Elizabethton, Bill Fair, Baltimore, Md., Howard, Veterans Hospital, Baltimore, Harold, U. S. Navy.
    The body will lie in state in the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home chapel until time for the services.

    MRS. MARTHA BLACKBURN
    Mrs. Martha Malinda Blackburn, 93, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Charlie Turner, Monday night at 10:20 following a short illness.
    Survivors are one son, Clifton Blackburn of Elizabethton; three daughters, Mrs. Una Belle Fair and Mrs. Ida Deloach, both of Elizabethton; and Mrs. Julie Moody of Elk Park, N.C.; 44 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted at the First Freewill Baptist Church Thursday at 1 o'clock with the Rev. Clarence Howington officiating. Assisting in the service will be the Rev. R. E. Rice and the Rev. Joe Potter.
    Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Active pallbearers will be John Roberts, Frank Barker, Arnold Arms, Charlie Turner, Gene Nidiffer and Roger Turner.
    Flower bearers will be Mrs. Robert Bowling, Mrs. Mary Fair, Mrs. John Roberts, Mrs. Emma Carden, Mrs. Lou Crosswhite, Mrs. Nell Scalf, Mrs. Charlie Guess and Mrs. Rachel Bradshaw.
    The body will remain at the home of Mrs. Una Belle Fair on East Street until Thursday at noon.
    Dillow Taylor Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge.

    MRS. ANNIE E. SHORT
    Funeral services for Mrs. Annie E. Short, 78, who died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Merritt, 401 South Main street, will be held at the Free Baptist church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. The last rites will be conducted by the Rev. M. P. Murphy and the Rev. J. C. Howington. Interment will be made in the Highland cemetery.
    Mrs. Short had been married three times, first to S. H. Fair, second to W. A. Carter, and third to John H. Short.
    She is survived by two brothers, Mack Turner and Saul Turner of Coeburn, Va.
    Children surviving are James Fair, Mrs. Maggie Cooke, Bob Fair, S. S. Fair, Mrs. John Merritt, Tom Fair, Jerry Fair, Mrs. R. R. Nave, all of Elizabethton, and Mrs. W. A. Robinson of Huntington, W. Va.; George Short, step-son of Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Short had fifty-three grandchildren and fifty-two great-grandchildren.
    The pallbearers are Hacker Carringer, R. L. Peeks, J. C. Lowrie, L. D. Chambers, J. A. Denny, and Avery Bowers.
