    Theodore Roosevelt Potter, 94, 137 Ted Potter Road, Butler, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in the Asbury Center, Johnson City, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late William and Emma Stout Potter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Irene Potter, Nov. 10, 1998, a daughter, Grace Cable, in 1996, two sons: Ray and Ralph Potter; a sister, Sarah Hollifield; five brothers: Bronlow, Harrison, Millard, Blaine and George Potter. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Stone Mountain Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War I. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Larry Potter, of the home; Dennis and Wanda Potter, Elk Park, N.C.; and James "Red" and Betty Glover, Hampton; five daughters and three sons-in-law: Gayle Ashley, Mary and Howard Estep, all of Elizabethton; Linda Potter, Betty and Daniel Hill, all of Johnson City; Ruth and Wayne Harmon, Butler. Twenty grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

    William H. Potter, 81, died at the home of his son, Ted Potter, Route 2, Butler today at 6:30 a.m. He was a member of the Poga Christian Church.
    He is survived by six sons, Ted Potter, Millard Potter and George Potter, all of Route 2, Butler, Harrison and Blaine Potter of Heaton, N.C. and Dewey Potter of Valley Forge; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Ann Hollyfield; two brothers, Ham and Carrick Potter, both of Heaton, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Susan Stout of Fremont, Virginia; thirty-three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Potter Cemetery Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Calvin Potter[sic] officiating.
    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Tetrick Funeral Home.

    A member of Poga Christian Church, he is survived by five other sons, Millard and George Potter of Rte. 2, Butler; Harrison and Blaine Potter of Heaton, N.C.; and Dewey Potter of Valley Forge; a daughter, Mrs. Sara Ann Hollyfield; two brothers, Ham and Carrick Potter of Heaton, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Susan Stout of Fremont, Va.; 33 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
    Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Potter Cemetery, with the Rev. Calvin Guy officiating.

    Mrs. Emma C. Potter died at one o'clock yesterday afternoon at her home, Butler, route 2. Mrs. Potter was 76 years old and a member of the Elk Mills Christian Church.
    Survivors are her husband, William H. Potter; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Hollyfield of Shell Creek; six sons, Millard and Harrison of Butler route 2, George and Ted of Butler, Blain of Heaton; and Dewey of Elizabethton; one brother, Bill Stout, route 2, Butler; and 38 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the home with the Rev. John Mathis of Valley Forge officiating. Burial will be made in the family cemetery.
    The Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge.
