    CHARLES M. WAGNER…
    … 77, member of a pioneer family of Johnson County, died at his home here Monday at 7:00 p.m., following a lingering illness.
    Mr. Wagner was in the mercantile business for 35 years, and later became affiliated with the state finance department. He was an active member of the Methodist Church, and served as superintendent of the Sunday school for a number of years.
    He was twice married. His first wife, the former Miss May Murphey, died in 1918. His second wife, the former Mrs. Elizabeth Whitaker, survives him.
    In addition to Mrs. Wagner, he is survived by four children of his first marriage: Paul M. Wagner, Dallas, Tex.; Mrs. Charles Ball, Middleburg, Va.; Mrs. J. Q. Thomas, Mountain City; Mrs. J. Hughes Mast, Damascus, Va.; and one step-son Malcolm Whitaker, Abingdon, Va.; and four grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Newberry, Monroe, Ga.; Mrs. Carrie Donnelly, Johnson City, and Mrs. R. P. London, Johnson City. Also by three brothers, Hugh Wagner, Salisaw, Okla.; James I. Wagner, Mountain City, and King Wagner, Tulsa, Okla.
    Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. yesterday at the Methodist Church in Mountain City, Rev. Parker, pastor, assisted by W. F. Ledford, A. E. Browne, and Joel Ponder, officiated. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers were J. C. Rambo, J. B. Mount, V. L. Walker, Justin Smythe, Ray Shoun and J. W. Branson.
    Honorary pallbearers were Robert Brown, M. E. Farris, J. C. Muse, Allen Stout, T. H. Smythe, Dr. Paul Madron, Dr. R. C. Blevins, R. O. Glenn, Dr. Mock, R. J. Howard, J. W. Smythe, E. L. McDade, W. W. Hawkins, T. M. Vance, Harry Goodman, Jerry M. Wilson, W. B. Mount, O. C. Wills, Frank Murphey, W. C. Wright, and R. W. Jackson.

    Out-Of-Town Friends Attend Wagner Funeral
    Mountain City, November 16 – Among those from Abingdon, Va. attending the funeral of Charles M. Wagner last week were Mr. and Mrs. John L. Musick, Mrs. Ollie Whiteaker, and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Gilmer, Miss Emily Gilmer, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Branson, Charles H. Butt, Mrs. Ray Wright, Mrs. Ralph Hayter, Mrs. Arthur Butt, Mrs. Charles Hagy, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marsha.
    Also Mrs. Wagner's son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Whiteaker and her niece, Eileen Blevins, all of whom had assisted in caring for Mr. Wagner in his last illness.
    Mrs. Julia Newberry has returned to her home at Monroe, Ga. after being at the bedside of her brother, Charles M. Wagner for several days.
    The Rev. and Mrs. W. F. Ledford of Morristown came to the funeral of Mr. Wagner, the Rev. Ledford participating in the services.

    MRS. C. M. WAGNER'S FUNERAL VERY SAD
    A large crowd composed of the citizens of the town and surrounding community gathered at the M. E. church last Thursday morning to attend the funeral of Mrs. C. M. Wagner, mention of whose death appeared in these columns last week. The services were conducted by the pastor of the church, Rev. G. W. Matney, who was assisted by Revs. H. S. Hutsell and A. E. Browne.

    Mrs. May Murphy Wagner, the wife of our neighbor, friend and kinsman, Charles M. Wagner, died at St. Luke's hospital at 10 o'clock in the evening of Feb. 12, 1918.
    Mrs. C. M. Wagner, up to the time of her death, was a member of the Wednesday Music Club.
