William C. "Bill" Morton

William C. "Bill" Morton, age 79, of Hampton, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at his residence, following an extended illness.

Mr. Morton was born in Hampton, to the late William Carmel and Letha Leone Campbell Morton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Smith Morton; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Mr. Morton retired as a truck driver and attended Hampton Baptist Church. He was an avid model car collector and enjoyed NASCAR.

Survivors include an aunt, Dorothy Goodwin, Hampton; brothers-in-law, Steve Smith and Bart and Sue Smith; a sister-in-law, Sandra and Carroll McKinney; several nieces, nephews and cousins, along with his special friends, Bobby Trivette and Joe and Wilma Williams, also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. William C. "Bill" Morton will be conducted at 12:30 PM on Friday, July 10, 2015, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday.

The committal and entombment service will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

William married Letha Leona Campbell on 1 Jul 1935 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Letha (daughter of Nicholas D. "Nick" Campbell and Callie C. Rambo) was born about 1913 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 28 Jan 2013 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee. ELIZABETHTON — Opal Campbell Jessee, 96, Elizabethton passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Hermitage Health Care following an extended illness.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Nick D. and Callie Rambo Campbell. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. Mrs. Jessee was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation where she was employed for several years. She was a member of the Siam Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Lawrence Campbell who died in 1967, her former husband Thomas Clyde Jessee, a son: Dean Campbell, A Grandson: David Montgomery, a son-in-law: Jack Montgomery, Two Sisters: Ora Hardin and Leona Hipps Nave and Two Brothers: Winford and Gatha Campbell.

Survivors include a daughter; Charlotte Campbell Montgomery, Elizabethton. Two Grandchildren: Dani Sue Thompson and her husband Cory, Murfreesboro and Deanna Davis and husband Wesley, Cameron, NC. Three Great Grandchildren; Nicole Davis, Jessica Rattelade and husband Dave, Raleigh, North Carolina and Kaylen Hall and husband Drew, Murfreesboro. A Great Great Granddaughter: Natalee.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Roddy officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Nicholas married Callie C. Rambo about 1900 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Callie was born in Jan 1882 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
