    Edna Fair Pope, 98, Johnson City, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013, in Oakwood, GA. A native of Elizabethton, she was the daughter of the late Mary Jane and Thomas Fair. Mrs. Pope was a lifelong member of Pinecrest Christian Church, Johnson City. She loved children, flowers and animals. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Pope, who passed away in 1973; and a daughter, Betty Paisley, who passed away in June. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Rick Pope and wife, Susan, of Johnson City; two daughters, Barbara White, of Oakwood, GA, and Patricia Green and husband, Jac,k of Melbourne, FL; a son in-law, Tommy Paisley; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 12:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. Pastor Nick Bradshaw will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service hour. A Graveside Service will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City. Pallbearers will be Richard Moore, Tommy Gastiger, Nathaniel Marcus, Jeff Holsclaw, Mark Rutherford and Doug Rutherford. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Neth and John Randolph.

    TOM FAIR
    Tom Fair, 53, died Monday evening at 6:30 at his home, 212 East Street.
    Mr. Fair was born April 25, 1883, to the late Samuel J. Fair and Annie Short. In 1904 he was married to Mary Bradshaw.
    Survivors of the deceased are the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Deloach, Mrs. Earnest Guess and Miss Edith Fair, all of Elizabethton, Mrs. Orville Pope of Johnson City. He is also survived by three brothers, the Rev. James Fair, Bob Fair and S. S. Fair; and two sisters, Mrs. John Merritt and Mrs. Bob Nave, all of Elizabethton.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Freewill Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Clarence Howington officiating.

    MRS. ANNIE E. SHORT
    Funeral services for Mrs. Annie E. Short, 78, who died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Merritt, 401 South Main street, will be held at the Free Baptist church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. The last rites will be conducted by the Rev. M. P. Murphy and the Rev. J. C. Howington. Interment will be made in the Highland cemetery.
    Mrs. Short had been married three times, first to S. H. Fair, second to W. A. Carter, and third to John H. Short.
    She is survived by two brothers, Mack Turner and Saul Turner of Coeburn, Va.
    Children surviving are James Fair, Mrs. Maggie Cooke, Bob Fair, S. S. Fair, Mrs. John Merritt, Tom Fair, Jerry Fair, Mrs. R. R. Nave, all of Elizabethton, and Mrs. W. A. Robinson of Huntington, W. Va.; George Short, step-son of Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Short had fifty-three grandchildren and fifty-two great-grandchildren.
    The pallbearers are Hacker Carringer, R. L. Peeks, J. C. Lowrie, L. D. Chambers, J. A. Denny, and Avery Bowers.
