T.B. Gryder, age 85, Elk Park, N.C., died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Blaine Miller at Butler after a lingering illness.
Mr. Gryder was a native of Alexandria County and a retired farmer.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William Dugger, Route 1; five sons, Gaither and Herbert Gryder, Blowing Rock, N.C., Dwight Gryder, Rockingham, N.C., Clyde Gryder, Lenoir, N.C., Rufus Gryder, Stuart, Fla.; one brother, Arlie Gryder, Butler; two sisters, Mrs. A.I. Greene of Boone, N.C., Mrs. Will Sheffield, Vilas, N.C.; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

JOHN ROSWELL GRYDER
John Roswell Gryder, 92, died at his home, Route 2, Butler, Saturday at 9:00 a.m. after a short illness. He was a member of the Lower Elk Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Tiltel Gryder of Avery County and Arlie Gryder of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Green, of Heaton, North Carolina and Mrs. W. E. Sheffield of Vilas, North Carolina; and one sister, Mrs. Venie Barnett of Hiddenite, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Lower Elk Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Potter and the Rev. Tommy Stansberry officiating. Burial will be in the Whitehead Cemetery.
