Notes: Karla Annette Isenberg Birchfield, 53, 711 Hamilton St., Johnson City, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004 at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was the daughter of Lois E. Isenberg and the late Karl Marx Isenberg. Karla was a 1969 graduate of Science Hill High School. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa Robin Wilhoit, a brother Keith Isenberg, and stepson Doug Birchfield. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her lifelong partner, James Morris, sister, Janet Isenberg and stepsons, Jody Birchfield and David Usary; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Karla Birchfield will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the home of her mother, Lois Isenberg, 709 Hamilton Street, Johnson City. It was Karla’s wishes to be cremated and to have no formal memorial service. Condolences may be sent to the Isenberg family at 709 Hamilton Street, Johnson City, TN 37601. Notes: Joe DeLoach was a lumberjack, saw mill operator and woodsman. When he was in his early 20's (in about 1905), he travelled to Oregon to work in the Redwood groves. For reasons unknown, he worked instead on a cattle ranch in Dallas, Oregon. In conversations with his son J.A. Mike DeLoach, he stated that he learned to break-in new broncos, and did all the normal work of a ranch hand. He said that on most days, he could see Mount Hood off to the east. He returned to East Tennessee in about 1909. It was said that he was probably the best horse rider in Johnson County, and that if anyone one had problems busting in a new horse, they would call on him. Notes: Samuel Carter DeLoach grew up in Carter County, Tennessee. Ha and his family moved to Johnson County, TN on 1 Sep 1881. He was a farmer, a carpenter, and a Baptist minister. He was one of the first ministers at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church in Butler, Johnson County, Tennessee. He was a minister at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church near Laurel Bloomery, and took part in the construction of that Church. His Johnson County home was in Campbell Hollow, near Doeville. His daughter, Celia, her husband Johnny Heaton, and their family lived with Samuel for several years. His youngest son, Joseph Alexander, his wife Dovie C. Williams Arnold, and their family lived there at the time of his death, and they inherited the property. Samuel and his wife Louisa Garrison are buried in a small family cemetery on a hill overlooking the place where their house once stood. Samuel married Martha Louisa Garrison on 27 Jan 1865 in Carter County, , , Tennessee.
