MARTHA WHITE DIES AT HOME
Mrs. Martha Estep White, 59, wife of W. S. White, died at the family residence on 508 Maple street Wednesday morning, following an illness of two weeks of double pneumonia. Mrs. White's death was the second in the family this week, a son-in-law, Markie Willie, dying on Tuesday morning in the same house.
Funeral services for Mrs. White will be conducted from 508 Maple street residence at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning, Rev. C. L. Bowden, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Internment will be in the family cemetery at Horseshoe, the old home of the deceased. Music will be in charge of the church choir of the First Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will be T. A. Dugger, Charlie Shell, Godfrey Carriger, Lee Lingerfelt, Jake Brumit, J. C. Holden, Bud Pierce, M. L. Basket.
Flower bearers will include Misses Hazel Ritts, Sophia Dugger, Helen Dugger, Edith Dugger, Myrtle Moore, Stella Lowing, May Harrison, Bessie Hughes, Mesdames Grace Gibson, Francis Seachrest, Eula Felty, Lela Richardson, Pauline Hyes[sic], Eula Barnes, Lucile Hopkins, and Louise Fondren.
Surviving are her husband, W. S. White, and six daughters, Mrs. W. M. Whitson, Mrs. Markie Willie, Nelle and Carmelita White, Elizabethton; Mrs. R. E. Draughn, Lynch, Ky.; Mrs. W. A. Marron, Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. D. C. Nidiffer, Elizabethton; Mrs. R. C. Nave, Horseshoe; four brothers, Joe, Isaac, Bruce, and John Estep, also of Horseshoe.
The deceased was a loving and devoted mother, and a good neighbor. A home loving woman, she devoted her time to her home and family, who will greatly miss her. She was born at Horseshoe in Carter county. Several years ago she was married to Mr. White and a greater part of her married life was spent in Virginia, returning to her native heath about seven years ago, where she has since resided.
