    I, WILLIAM BUNTON, of the County of Johnson and the State of Tennessee, being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manor and form following:
    Firstly: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, FANNY BUNTON, all my land that lies in Johnson County, and my personal property of every kind to be and remain to her proper use and benefit her lifetime, then to vest to my two youngest sons, that is ANDREW and ELIJAH BUNTON to be equally divided between them. I devise that my wife shall pay my debts out of my estate. I hereby revoke all former wills by me made, in witness whereof, I have set my hand and affixed my seal this Eleventh day of June, 1839.
    Assigned, sealed and delivered in the presence of us to be the last Will and Testament of the above named William Bunton, in our presence who has unto subscribed our names.

    From Tami Colbaugh: He was. a Revolutionary War Soldier. He was a great hunter, trapper and fur trader and much wealth. He was the next Bunton on record to own land in Carter County, Tennessee. Deed Book A, pages 466-467, William Griffin sold him 128 acres of land for 100.00 Dollars and located on Fitzgerald Branch. He owned acres and acres of land where the present Buntontown is located in the lower portion of Johnson County. Buntontown was named from him

    Godfrey Daniel Stout was my husband's gt.gt.gt. grandfather and we visited the cemetery he is buried in "Asa Shoun." On his stone it is written

    From Tami Colbaugh: William was in the "War of the Revolution", as a Private,Captain Burnam's Company; Col. Michael Jackson's 8th. Regt.; from November 19, 1777 to January 16, 1778; He was reported mustered by Nathaniel Barber, Muster Master; also was reported deserted. He was the first Bunton Family to own land in Carter County, Tennessee, On April 29, 1776 he owned a parcel of land lying on both sides of the Watauga River above Iron Mountain. He also served as a Jurror in Washington County, North Carolina in 1778.
