Notes:

Mae was married at 15. The cow was dry and Mae helped her mom with it.
Grannie thought Mae went out back but Mae and Hass slipped away and
eloped. Mae and Hass met in Carter Co. at Midway School. (Grannie
Stout to Mom)
She had a hysterectomy at 26.

MRS. LUCY MAE DELOACH
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Mae DeLoach, 22, who died in Detroit, Michigan Sunday morning, will be conducted at the Dungan Chapel Church Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. J. R. Brooks and the Rev. C. Y. Elkins officiating.
Burial will be in the Ensor Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be selected from friends at the services.
Flower bearers will be Fannie Timbs, Addie Hurley, Mary White, Naloma Peters, Geneva Timbs, Beulah Stout, Earell Arnold, Betty Bishop, Mary Alice Hodge and Margaret Street.
She is survived by her husband Dana Hasvard DeLoach; one son, William Paul DeLoach and one daughter, Martha Janet DeLoach, both of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stout of Route 5, Elizabethton; one brother, William Stout of Route 5, Elizabethton; and five sisters, Mrs. Cassie Smith, Mrs. Lona Reed, Mrs. Cammilla Arnold and Mrs. Patsy Long all of Route 5, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Wanda Arnold of Route 1, Doeville.
The body was taken to the home of her parents this afternoon from the chapel of the Tetrick Funeral Home.

Jan. 20: Funeral for MRS. LUCY DeLOACH, was conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. at Dungan Chapel Church, with Rev. J. R. Brooks and REv. D. Y. Elkins officiating. Burial was at Ensor cemetery.

Survivors include the husband, Dana DeLOACH, a daughter, Martha Janet, and one son, Paul; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe STOUT, Rte. 5, Elizabethton; one brother, William STOUT, Rte. 5 by five sisters, Mrs. Cassie SMITH, Mrs. Lona REED, Mrs. Cammilla ARNOLD, and Mrs. Pansy LONG, all of Rte. 3, Elizabethton; and Mrs. Wanda ARNOLD, Rte. 1, Doeville.

Notes:

Joe Stout left home at age 12 because he found out Joe Arney was his
real dad, and not James D. Stout who raised him. At age 12, he went to
work for a wealthy farmer, Bid Lowe until Bid died, grandad was 18 at
that time. He then went to work for Nick Cammel (Campbell?) until he
married. After he married, he went to work for Uncle Stans's dad
cutting timber. At one point he went to work at a Rock Quarry in
Stoney Creek where Aunt Wanda thinks he was injured. (Aunt Wanda) Joe
and Martha Stout lived in Stony Creek along Hodge Branch.

Discripency in birth year. SSDI had 1884, Grannie Stout said 1885.

Martha attended Doeville School. It was a small school house which had
25 to 30 children and went from First Grade to Eighth Grade. The water
was carried from a well in a bucket and when one of the children needed
a drink, they would raise their hand and all used the same dipper.

Martha and Joe lived on a farm that was given to them by her
family.

8/28/1942 - Relocation interview by TVA. Living in the Doeville community, Johnson County, Mrs. DeLoach lives in the house behind the Doe Post Office on the property of D.B. Grindstaff. 25 years in the community. this is a three-room boxed house owned by Jesse Grindstaff, Mrs. DeLoach is supported by her daughter, Mildred who works at NARC. Mrs. DeLoach died during the interim period.
