Nina Lee Hackler

Notes:

Nina Lee Hackler Ellis, 92, (born April 11, 1910), of Mount Carmel, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2003.

She was born in Comer's Rock, Grayson County, Va., and had resided in Hawkins County since 1927.

She was a member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was a director of the United Methodist Women's Circles. She was director of the Mount Carmel Senior Citizens for many years.

Mrs. Ellis was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Eugene Ellis; and one son, Raymond Lynn Ellis.

Surviving are two daughters, Frances Carpenter and husband Jack of Kingsport, and Maude Smith and husband Homer of Kingsport; three sons, James E. Ellis and wife Janie of Kingsport, Donald C. Ellis and wife Frances of Mount Carmel, and Rev. E. Lee Ellis and wife Evelyn of Greensboro, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Bernice Brickey Ellis of Mount Carmel; one sister, Lucille H. Wright of Kingsport; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Funeral Hill.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Oak Hill Chapel with the Rev. Harry Hight Jr. and the Rev. E. Lee Ellis officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Wills Cemetery in Hawkins County.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons; Rick Carpenter, Steve Carpenter, Roger Ellis, Ronnie Ellis, Jason Huff, Jarrad Morelock, Gary Hylton, John Wing, Joshua Glawson, Brandon Morelock, Adam Ellis, Benjamin Ellis, Isaac Ellis, Jacob Ellis, Wesley Stokes and Daniel Stokes.

Nina married Edgar Eugene Ellis on 9 Jan 1927 in Iron Mtn, Grayson, Virginia, United States. Edgar (son of Wiley McTyeire Ellis and Louvenia Maude Winegar) was born on 16 Sep 1905 in Snowflake, , Scott County, Virginia; died on 1 Feb 1991 in Mount Carmel, , Hawkins County, Tennessee; was buried in Wills Cemetery, , Hawkins County, Tennessee. Funeral services for Alexander R. Hackler, 79, who died on Wednesday, May 9, 1951 at his home in Church Hill, Tenn., were held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Comers Rock.

Mr. Hackler is survived by the widow, Mittie W. Hackler; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Wright and Mrs. Edgar Ellis, both residents of Church Hill, Tenn.; five brothers, E. K. Hackler, J. G. Hackler and E. C. Hackler, all of whom live at Comers Rock, J. W. Hackler, Galax, and T. C. Hackler, Ridge Farm, Ill.

Interment was in the Comers Rock cemetery.

Mrs. Mittie Wright Hackler, 90, Rt. 10, Moreland Dr., Kingsport, died at 4 a.m. Monday at her home following a lengthy illness.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Henry Wright of Kingsport and Mrs. Edgar Ellis of Church Hill, Tenn.; one brother, Bowman Wright of Chilhowie, Va.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
