    There has been no proof found, but it is assumed that Malachi DeLoach got a nickname of Mack DeLoach during his Civil War service. This assumption is based upon:
    (1) No further record of a Malchi DeLoach, and no previous record of a Mack DeLoach in Lowndes County.
    (2) The close date of birth for both Malachi and Mack DeLoach.

    Ebenezer DeLoach was born in Tattnall County in 1815, a son of Abraham and Elizabeth Rowe Deloach. His parents were married in Bulloch County in 1804 and moved from Tattnall to Lowndes County about 1835. Ebenezer DeLoach was married in 1836 to Jemima Monk, youngest child of William Monk, R.S. (Vol.1). She was born Dec. 10, 1816, in Bulloch County.
    Mr. DeLoach served as a private in Capt. Hamilton W. Sharpe's volunteer company of militia in 1836, and also as a private in Capt. William C. Newbern's company of Florida militia, Sept. 20th to Dec.20, 1837. He died about 1870, and was buried at Union Church; grave unmarked.

    Mrs. Jemima DeLoach was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She was baptized into Friendship Church, Lowndes County, and transferred by letter to Unity Church. Aug. 10, 1867. She died a member of Unity Church, Dec. 15, 1878, and was burled at Union Church; grave is marked.

    EBENEZER DELOACH, Indian War Soldier, Widow's Bounty Land Application
    Mrs. JEMIMA DELOACH on 9/20/1869, in Clinch Co GA made her declaration
    to obtain land for service of her deceased husband; and she states that
    she was the widow of EBENEZER DELOACH who was a private in Capt.
    Studstill's company in the Indian War, and was married to her said
    husband in Lowndes Co. GA. on 2/10/1835 by Joshua Sikes, JP & that her
    maiden name was Jemima Monk, and that her husband died at his home in
    Lowndes Co Ga. on 8/30/1860 and that she is 53 years of age & has not
    remarried. She knows of no eye-witnesses to her marriage, now living.

    John J. Carter & James Walker of Lowndes Co Ga , certify that they were
    aquainted with the said widow & her dec'd husband for 30 years prior to
    his death on 8/30/1860; that deponets never heard their marriage
    disputed by any one; and that they were good citizens & received into
    society as husband & wife, & had often heard dec'd speak of her as his
    wife. Sworn to before D.D. Mahon, JP Clinch Co GA 9/20/1869.

    The Auditor on examining the application, found there was no file of
    Capt. Studstill's militia Co, but that deceased served in Capt.. W.C.
    Newbern's Co, 9/23/1839--12/20/1839. Widow was granted 160 Acres
    2/24/1870.
