ARNOLD, Delmer C., 74, went to be with his Lord at 12:47 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 1995. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary A. Minopoli-Arnold of Naples, Italy; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Tom Roubal; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie W. and Dianne; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Delfrari; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Richard Rosler; 12 grandchildren and two grandchildren’s spouses; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Berneice Matherly; brothers, Park, James and Elwood Arnold of Johnson County, TN; as well as a brother-in-law and family from Italy who live in Tucson. Born in Johnson County, TN, he served in North Africa and Italy with the 5th Army Medical Corps during World War II and was awarded two bronze stars. Living in Tucson for 48 years, he was employed as manager of Mulcahy Lumber Company and retired from Grant Road Lumber Company. He was awarded “Outstanding Salesman of the Year’in Tucson prior to retirement. Services will be at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 1995 with Dr. Bill Parker officiating.

Delmer married Maria Anna Minopoli about 1945. Maria was born on 22 Sep 1928 in Provincia di Napoli, , , Italy; died on 21 Jan 2019 in Pima County, , , Arizona; was buried in South Lawn Memorial Cemetery, , Pima County, Arizona. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Birth:
Due to WWII bombings in Italy in her youth, original birth records were destroyed. The only documentation remaining only showed the year of 1928. When Mary immigrated to the United States in April of 1946 - her official date of birth became Jan 24, 1928. This is the date found on all official U.S. documentation.
However, many years later Mary also started observing a birthday of Sep 22, 1928. This is the date that was generally observed and celebrated with family.

With great sorrow the family of Mary Arnold announces the final journey she has made on Monday, January 21, 2019 to her heavenly home at the age of 90 years old. She will join her one and only true love Delmer with her loving parents, brothers and sisters at his side. Mary is survived by her children, Ruth (Tom) Roubal, Eddie (Dianne) Arnold, Jennifer (John) DelFrari and, Dianna (Richard) Rosler. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Lisa, Bobby, Bryan, Jason, Jennifer, Kristen, Danny, Melissa, Jeffrey, Kimberly, Julie, Michelle, 33 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Tina Minopoli, Margarita Minopoli, Sue Arnold; brother-in-law, Elwood Arnold and many nieces and nephews. Mary made her first journey to America in 1946 from Italy as an Italian War Bride. Just a young bride of six months and with child she journeyed by herself on an American Red Cross ship to this new land full of hope and wonderment of what it would behold. With her husband still in Italy, he would join her several weeks later in Tennessee. Due to the health of Delmer, they came to Tucson, Arizona. This became Mary's home for the next 72 years. In that time Mary created her own dynasty of over 65 family members and accomplished many great things in her life. The most treasured gift was doing and giving to her family. She will be greatly missed and she leaves this world of pain for a King of peace. Services will be at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Viewing at 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Family will officiate her service. Interment South Lawn Cemetery.

Eddie married Eliza Ruth Pleasant on 15 May 1920 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Eliza (daughter of Garfield Abraham Pleasant and Eliza J. Morley) was born on 23 Jun 1904 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 5 Jun 1975 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee. Family lore says that Eliza Ruth Pleasant was the daughter of Garfield Pleasant and his first wife Eliza J. Morley. Further research is required to prove this. Eliza Ruth Pleasant would have been the third child of Garfield and Eliza J. Morley, and was born on 23 Jun 1904. Eliza J. Morley Pleasant died on 18 Aug 1904. Prior to the 1910 Johnson County census, Garfield married Ella O. Treadway. The 1910 census lists:

Garfield PLeasant's second wife, Ella O. Treadway died on 21 Jun 1918. He married his third wife, Eunice H. ____ prior to the 1920 census, which lists:

So, Eliza Ruth Pleasant is never listed as a member of Garfields household, but is listed as a granddaughter of William H. Pleasant.

Reportedly, Garfield did not want the responsibility of raising a newborn child, and so Eliza Ruth Pleasant was raised by her grandparents. Hopefully, a birth record can be found which will prove this relationship.

Notes:

There were two persons named John H. Arnold. The first was a son of Meredith Dugger Arnold, and was born in about . He appeared in the 1850 Johnson County, TN census as an 11 year old son of Meredith. He could not be identified in subsequent census records for Johnson County, meaning he either moved out of the county, or that he died.
The second John H. Arnold appears in the 1860 Johnson County census as a 5 year old member of Meredith Dugger's household. In this listing, he is placed out of birth year sequence, and is listed at the bottom. In the 1870 census, he is listed as 15 year old John H. McQueen in the household of Clara McQueen, who is the daughter of Meredith D. Arnold. Clara had married Wiley A. McQueen on 7 Oct 1860 following the 1860 census. Their daughter Hannah is also listed in the Clara Arnold McQueen's 1870 household. Since the marriage of Clara Arnold to Wiley A. McQueen follows the birth of John H. Arnold by five years, it is uncertain who his father is.

John H. Arnold, age 85, died at his home, Butler, Tenn., RFD Route 3, Thursday night at 11:45 o'clock after a short illness.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Doe Baptist church Saturday morning at 10:00 with the Rev. Gregg, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will be in the Arnold cemetery.
Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Nell Pleasant, Mrs. Aradia Davis, Mrs. Elsie Davis, Mrs. Ruth Stout, Mrs. Maude Stout, and Mrs. Lottie Gentry, all of Johnson County; three sons, G. G., A. J. and E. W. Arnold, all of Johnson County.
Pallbearers: Robert Allen, Edward Rainbolt, Homer Stalcup, Blaine Gentry, Wayne Stout, and Cleo Garland.

John married Elizabeth D. Robinson on 26 Aug 1875 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Elizabeth (daughter of Nicholas G. Robinson and Mary Ann Howard) was born on 8 Nov 1857 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 8 Apr 1926 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in John Arnold Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee. Garfield married Eliza J. Morley about 1898 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Eliza (daughter of William Alexander Morley and Elizabeth J.
