JOHNSON CITY - Thomas "Tommy" W. Altman, age 77, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord following a lenthgy illness.

Mr. Altman born on February 15, 1940 in Greene County to the late T.D. and Earlene Altman. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Altman was formerly employed at Interstate Foundry, Johnson City Foundry, and Kingsport Foundry. Tommy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a maintenance man and a great mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Dugger; brother, Jerry Atman; sister, Jean Deloach.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Becky Gillette Altman, Johnson City; a daughter, Teri Vines and husband Tim, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Andrew Dugger and Audrey King, both of Johnson City. Several great grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Altman will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Gillette, Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Frank Forbush.

JOHNSON CITY - Everetta Bailey Altman, 82, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 18, 2023 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was the daughter of the late Everett and Shirley Truitt Bailey. Everetta was a member of Maranatha Tabernacle in Unicoi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Kathy Jo Altman Dugger.

Known as Mom, Gramamma, Ms. Everetta, Wonder Woman, and A Hoot, Everetta was everyone's other Mother - filling roles of counselor, teacher, prayer warrior, friend. Nanny by trade but loved traveling, cooking, movies, concerts, birds, plants, photography, miniatures, and had a knack for teaching vegan nutrition through drama and humor.

Everetta leaves behind her daughter Teri Altman Vines, grandchildren Andrew (Sharon) Dugger, Audrey (Ricky) King, and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Everetta will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday, June 30, 2023 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. Special music will be provided by Queenie Wheeler. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Private graveside services will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Johnson City.
