  1. 4.  Eddie William B. Arnold was born on 28 Aug 1899 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee (son of John Henry Arnold and Elizabeth D. Robinson); died on 10 Nov 1989 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.

Eddie married Eliza Ruth Pleasant on 15 May 1920 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Eliza (daughter of Garfield Abraham Pleasant and Eliza J. Morley) was born on 23 Jun 1904 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 5 Jun 1975 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Eliza Ruth Pleasant was born on 23 Jun 1904 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee (daughter of Garfield Abraham Pleasant and Eliza J. Morley); died on 5 Jun 1975 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.

    Notes:

Family lore says that Eliza Ruth Pleasant was the daughter of Garfield Pleasant and his first wife Eliza J. Morley. Further research is required to prove this. Eliza Ruth Pleasant would have been the third child of Garfield and Eliza J. Morley, and was born on 23 Jun 1904. Eliza J. Morley Pleasant died on 18 Aug 1904. Prior to the 1910 Johnson County census, Garfield married Ella O. Treadway. The 1910 census lists:
    Household 237
    Garfield Pleasant 28 TN
    Ella O. 28 TN
    Clarence E. 10 TN
    Maude O. 8 TN
    Arthur C. 2 TN
    Martha E. 1Mo TN

Eliza Ruth is not listed here, but rather in the household of Garfield's father:

    Household 53
    William H. Pleasant 68 TN
    Martha 49 TN
    Blane H. 15 TN
    Walter B. 13 TN
    Nellie E. 12 TN
    Randall 7 TN
    Eliza R. 5 TN [Granddaughter]

Eliza R. is also listed in William Pleasant's household in 1920:

    Household 125
William H. Pleasant 78 TN VA PA
    Rondal 17 TN TN TN
Lizzie 16 TN TN TN Granddaughter

Garfield PLeasant's second wife, Ella O. Treadway died on 21 Jun 1918. He married his third wife, Eunice H. ____ prior to the 1920 census, which lists:

    Household 129
Garfield A. Pleasant 38 TN TN TN
Eunice H. 21 NC NC NC
Maude O. 18 TN TN TN
    Arthur C. 14 "
    Eva M. 12 "
    Harry A. 3 "

So, Eliza Ruth Pleasant is never listed as a member of Garfields household, but is listed as a granddaughter of William H. Pleasant.

Reportedly, Garfield did not want the responsibility of raising a newborn child, and so Eliza Ruth Pleasant was raised by her grandparents. Hopefully, a birth record can be found which will prove this relationship.

He appeared in the 1850 Johnson County, TN census as an 11 year old son of Meredith. He could not be identified in subsequent census records for Johnson County, meaning he either moved out of the county, or that he died.
The second John H. Arnold appears in the 1860 Johnson County census as a 5 year old member of Meredith Dugger's household. In this listing, he is placed out of birth year sequence, and is listed at the bottom. In the 1870 census, he is listed as 15 year old John H.
