    Notes:

    Joseph Keicher/Kyker was born June 9, 1779 in Rowan County. N. C.. His parents were Kuonrat "Conrad" Keicher and Margaretha Layrle, 2nd-generation German immigrants. The Keichers migrated from Rowan County in the mid-1790s to a Lutheran (German/Dutch) community in present-day Washington Co., Tenn.

    Joseph had 3 brothers: John, Conrad Jr. "Coonie" and Peter. Coonie raised a family in Greene County, near Mosheim. Coonie's son Jacob and several other family members are buried in the Sinking Springs Cemetery. Peter, Joseph's youngest brother, raised two families in Madison County, Ind. He first married Elizabeth Peters in Greene County, Tenn. The had 8 children before Elizabeth died. His 2nd marriage was to Catherine Lambert, mother of his 3 youngest children.

    Joseph had 5 sisters: Catherine, Marguerite "Margaret," Susannah, Barbara and Mary Ann. Catherine married Nicholas Linebarger. They lived in Sevier County, where she died soon after marriage. Margaret married George Biebel/Bible. They raised a family in the Deep Gap Community near Del Rio in Cocke County. Barbara married James Chandler. They moved to Sevier County. Susannah married Jeremiah Boyd. They raised a family in Monroe County, near Riceville. Mary Ann married Gordon Brown. They moved to Madison County, Ark.

    On March 31, 1802 in Washington County, Joseph married Jane Booth, daughter of Joseph Booth and Sarah Dutton, who came from Virginia.

    Notes:

    Jane Booth was born April 19, 1782 in Virginia. Earlier English spelling of the family name was "Boothe." Jane's parents were Joseph Boothe (born in Pennsylvania) and Sarah Dutton (born in Virginia). The Boothe family moved to Virginia while it was still a British colony. In the mid-1790s, the family moved to Washington County, Tenn., near Jonesborough (before Tennessee was a state).

    In 1802, Jane married Joseph Keicher in Washington County where they raised their family, which is documented on Joseph's memorial (linked below).

    Jane had 8 siblings (3 brothers and 5 sisters). Brothers Joseph II and and John are buried in Washington County.
